The Gibson 70s Les Paul Deluxe is more than a blast from the past. It's a shrine to Gibson's insanely high standards of craftsmanship and knack for getting the feel and tone of their creations just right. You'll be blown away by the rich, purring tone of the Mini Humbuckers, which were first introduced in 1969 - they kicked off the sound of the '70s. Hum-free, they deliver an ultra-clear sound, with slightly more brightness and punch than their larger counterparts - they'll shine in any genre. Feel your riffs like never before. The Rounded C mahogany neck gives a glimpse of what the player so the '70s would have felt in their hands. Smooth, satisfying, and incredibly easy to play, it'll let you riff all night long. An Indian rosewood fretboard provides unbeatable sustain and a powerful response, whilst the Tune-O-Matic bridge keeps your tuning steady as a rock. The maple top lends itself to a beautiful finish, whilst the cutaway design enables superb upper fret access. This is modern, professional craftsmanship combined with inimitable '70s Gibson charm. Prepare to be blown away.

Starting with the good. This guitar has great sounding pickups and I love the neck. Unfortunately it arrived with multiple quality issues. The first thing I noticed was when I opened the case to find the remnants of a shattered volume knob. After a quick call to customer service I was refunded 25$ for a new pack of knobs and I thought my issues were done. Unfortunately after looking it over some more it looks like someone attacked the neck binding with a chisel from the low e side of the 12th fret to the end of it on the body. There’s also glue dripping out onto the fretboard in that section.Great player but I feel like I paid full price for a damaged item. Please be aware this is my first issue with an item from AMS after ordering from them for years.

I used one of these exclusively in the 70's and 80's. Hands down, the best playing, best sounding guitar ever made. The mini humbuckers cut through the mix, and screamed with the most fabulous tone ever when plugged straight into my 120 watt Peavey Duce! I worked this guitar hard, and it always put a smile in my face, and I was constantly asked how I was getting that wonderful tone. Some of the best guitar players of the 70s and 80s used this guitar. A lot of iconic recordings were made using this guitar. Nothing Compares. I made enough money with this guitar to buy my first home and several new cars, and finance my first business. A trusted friend that I could always count on for every show I played. It was always constant and never let me down.If you can live ... MoreI used one of these exclusively in the 70's and 80's. You won't be sorry! The original 70s Deluxe had a slim taper neck. A true delight to play for hours. Learning new songs and 4 hour gigs were a breeze. As you move up and down the neck on any guitar, your wrist changes position. A slim taper compensates for this change and makes the transition seamless and effortless. The big club neck guitars force you to compensate, causing fatigue and errors. I actually had one of these new Deluxe in my cart and was ready to happily pull the trigger, then I saw that for some reason, they changed the neck. I waited for days. I tried hard to justify the baseball bat neck, but after about a week, sadly I removed it from my cart. Hopefully next year they will make a real 70s Deluxe, and I will be first in line. I'd say a lot of players are waiting and hoping they will give us a slim taper neck on this fabulous guitar. If you are a fan of big Gibson necks, and want the best guitar you will ever love, buy this guitar. You will never be sorry.

The Gibson brand has bounced back and is showing just how much of a world renowned entity they really are. Most people into guitars have played a Gibson at one time or another. It's truly the best quality musical instrument being made today. Of course, no one is perfect but Gibson is as close as it gets/ the new CEO has made a big difference already. there's no doubt that this company has proven over the years that it's about being in it for the long run and delivering the products the musicians truly desire. My Gibson Les Paul Deluxe has mini humbucking pickups with a lovely satin tobacco burst finish. The controls are solid and high quality. They feel great in my hands. It is a non weight relieved guitar so the weight feels really good to me. much like the guitars ... MoreThe Gibson brand has bounced back and is showing just how much of a world renowned entity they really are. Better than the original.
12 March 2022

This will not be my everyday guitar. This will not be my number one when I gig out. It is just like my first "real" electric guitar that I bought in 1975. It's as solid as that one was and sounds maybe even a little bit better. I will take it out with me sometime I'm sure, just for old time's sake. It plays great out of the box although I always have my guitars serviced for intonation and polish the frets as soon as I get them. That is a matter of personal taste. It's a great guitar and I'm very glad that once again Gibson is making quality instruments.

Even better than the original 70s Deluxe models
18 January 2022

Ever since I was a teenager I wanted a 73 Cherry sunburst Les Paul.Well I found a 76 and really liked the guitar except its weight and it had been modded too much for my taste so I sold it.I just bought the a new 70s Cherry burst Les Paul and love it. All the modern features plus those mini humbuckers really sound great. The neck is between a 60s slim and some of the traditional thicker necks. Just right! Its my favorite Les Paul now even after buying others. The weight is still heavier than a new standard, but the mini humbucker sound makes it worth it.

Excellent Les Paul Deluxe
18 March 2022

Overall:I've been a fan and owned a few Deluxe over the years. When I saw this online I had to get it. First of all, zZounds shipped it from their location in NJ to PA in one day! No wait. The guitar is absolutely gorgeous. The Gold Top looks great. Mine looks like it has a one piece mahogany body with a great grain on both the body and neck. The overall weight is about 9lbs in my estimation and balances well. The neck is very comfortable and it is not exactly thin. It's more like a fat "C" shape, but not as fat as my 58RI. The pickups really shine. I always loved mini-humbuckers & they are nice and bright almost like a thicker Strat or Tele bridge tone. The neck pickup sounds big and bright. I'm glad Gibson is producing these again & zZounds really delivered.

Gibson Les Paul Deluxe 70's electric guitar is awesome !

The Gibson Les Paul Deluxe 70'S is an excellent guitar. I got a scratch and dent for the reduced price and I am very happy with the guitar. It has an awesome sound, and the Cherry Sunburst finished looks good (even with a few scratches on it). The guitar is excellent.

Excellent instrument. Just needed tuning. Lovely hard shell case that matches the guitar. Fantastic instrument to play. Shall definitely consider PMT first for any future purchases. Don't need prize money. Just happy to write a review. Thanks PMT! Dean.

Great Sounding 2015 Les Paul Studio Deluxe III
24 January 2016

I have played my 2015 Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe III EX Electric Guitar daily for one month prior to this review. It was ready to play straight out of the box! It weighs exactly 8 pounds which is perfect for me. The Caribbean blue color is simply amazing. The Pleck machine fretwork is impeccable, and the action is set perfect on my guitar. When I first tuned the guitar I was fascinated that the intonation was spot on, and the guitar stayed in tune after playing it for a few hours! I love the Non locking Grover tuners which are perfect for me. I was skeptical on getting the 57 pickups but I got to tell you, the Classic '57 Front sounds simply amazing, and the Super '57 is ridiculous on solos! (Actually they both sound great on solos!) Not that I use this option ... MoreI have played my 2015 Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe III EX Electric Guitar daily for one month prior to this review. It was ready to play straight out of the box! I was skeptical on getting the 57 pickups but I got to tell you, the Classic '57 Front sounds simply amazing, and the Super '57 is ridiculous on solos! (Actually they both sound great on solos!) Not that I use this option much but I like that both pickups offer coil splitting for single-coil sounds and a boost circuit via push/push switching in the volume controls. According to reviews I read on this model, the Straight Split coil-splitting offers pure single coil tone and differs from LP Standards and Studios that have a Super Tap coil-tap, which still has a small amount of humbucking. A nice extra is the user-adjustable 10-dB boost for added power and frequency range for solos, single-note picking. Comes with a brown Gibson hard-shell case also. The 9 volt battery compartment for the adjustable 10-dB boost on the back of this guitar is redesigned and simply amazing. Simply depress the button and it opens right up and the battery slides right in or out, no screwdriver needed. It is very user friendly and in comparison actually blows away the battery compartment setup on other guitars I have owned. For me this guitar has all the goodies that I need and the price is definitely right. I've been playing since 1981 and this Gibson Les Paul Studio guitar passes the test with the added upgrades. This is a limited edition Gibson Les Paul Studio guitar so when it is gone it's gone forever. Good luck!
