Overall:In a word: ******* amazing. No matter the price, you would think a guitar sitting in a warehouse for any length of time would need a setup. Not with this Wine Red Les Paul Custom! The only caveat is it was completely out of tune (to be expected); a little "nut sauce" and it was good as gold. And that lacquer smell still haunts my house! Well worth it...Mere words are not enough to describe the sound and the power with this guitar. It blows away my 2014 Traditional (a nice guitar in its own right); it is not even a comparison. The neck is so much easier to play. Fit and finish are flawless. In closing: save your money, eat Ramen noodles for a year if you must, wear your hole-in-the-crotch jeans for as long as necessary and BUY THIS GUITAR!

The Custom Les Paul stands out for very obvious reasons. I own two other great Les Paul's but the Custom stands out in many ways. The finish on the neck, front and back are beautiful and the front and back binding is perfectly done. The black pinstriping on the binding is a nice touch which makes a nice frame on the headstock. The gold plating is very well done and is as beautiful on the white as the black Custom. The volume and tone controls are very responsive with even the smallest adjustment in level and the sound is incredible and just gets better with the addition of pedals. Overall, this is a beautiful guitar that anyone would be proud to own. I've heard many criticisms of Gibson's quality control but there is no lack of quality workmanship on this guitar. ... MoreThe Custom Les Paul stands out for very obvious reasons. Been wanting to have a real Gibson Les Paul Custom since I played a copy back in high school.Over the years, I acquired and still own a collection of non-custom shop Gibson LPs including Junior, Special, Classic, Standard, and recently a wine red Supreme. While I love them all, non plays and sounds as good as the LP custom. This guitar just sings effortlessly. However, there were some minor quality issues I found out of the box. Tuning peg nuts were loose so was the three way switch (spinning), action was too high as well. Fixed easily. Just disappointed that at this price range, Gibson misses on trivial things like that. Otherwise, the instrument is perfect!!! Still give it all the stars I think it deserves!

Sound:This is a great guitar but it came incomplete from the manufacturer. The set up was terrible. If I buy a Fender Custom Shop, PRS, or a Tom Anderson guitar in the same price range, the set up will blow this Gibson away. Corian nuts? Why? Are you trying to save pennies on a 5K guitar?Features:Again, corian nuts are a waste on this level of guitar. Should be bone.Ease of Use:It's a LP Custom so it does deliver, especially through a Fender tube or high gain amp.Quality:Beauty, for sure.Value:No. It's overvalued. Gibson has decided to charge up front for any appreciated value many of their guitars will accrue over the next 20 years. I guess I would, as well, if I could get away with it.Manufacturer Support:I have many dealings with Gibson from a ... MoreSound:This is a great guitar but it came incomplete from the manufacturer. I guess I would, as well, if I could get away with it.Manufacturer Support:I have many dealings with Gibson from a customer stand point as well in the course of general business. Not my favorite company under Henry, JC, or the current crew. The Wow Factor:Legacy of the LP Custom is evident. It's a great guitar once all the manufacturing issues have been fixed.Overall:I did not buy this guitar from zZounds (but have purchased other high end Gibsons here that were excellent out of the box). This LP Custom is a beauty, for sure. However, a corian nut is a disappointment, especially when bone is used on lesser models. Corian is what kitchen countertops are made from. The set up is less than desirable, mostly with the nut slot depths that make the guitar uneven and difficult to play. I am a certified luthier (build/repair) so I do all the work on my guitars. Nut slots are about .010+ over industry manufacturing standards. You'd expect more from a guitar with a 5K price tag.Getting past the lack of attention to detail with the final set-up, you'll have a great guitar.
Overall:I brought this guitar for my bf of that time. He was so amazing. He played the drums from a younger years of his days. Till that one fatal day in time, a moment we all would never expect in our life time. He has a major motorcycle accident, which had taken his will to play or even to continue to live life. I thank God that he picked his self up n moved forward. When I meet him, he is a wonderful rhythm guitar player. As I saw how he had conquer his way from a bad way to great way to life. I felt that he is worthy of this guitar. I worked at a convenience store and babysat to earn the money. I finely did and got him the #26 addition of the les Paul. I was very proud of him so much. It was ok. He married a wonderful woman n they r still together today, Yes he still is playing to this day, n from what here he is battling cancer now. Any suggestions on what I could get my friend something more as meaningful for him, like I did back in 1989. Thanks
I bought an Alpine White Custom Les Paul a few months back and have enjoyed everything about the guitar. The sound, playability, paint, binding features and hardware are all perfect. Recently I decided to buy the Ebony twin and can't add much in the way of variables, but the quality is consistent at every level which should be an asset for anyone buying a nice guitar. I also worked with my Platinum Sales Advisor through e-mail and by phone to cover my questions and to ensure the guitar met my satisfaction when it left Guitar Center. His direction and advise are much appreciated and I'm sure we will work together again. So, if you want a beautiful Custom Les Paul you won't be disappointed by either the Alpine White or the Ebony.
Overall:The certificate of authenticity was very cheesy. Just a piece of thick paper with the serial number written on it sloppily. Guitar is great though but come on out a little into it. It’s a 5000 guitar !
I play schecter almost exclusively, but my dream was to get one of these since I was little. This guitar can do absolutely anything, and feels just magical in your hands. I can't believe the quality and just, sheer beauty of this guitar. In person it's even better looking, a picture simply doesn't do it justice. If you have the money, It's worth it.
Overall:I've been playing guitar for over 50 yrs. I'm 66 and after having hundreds of guitars over the yrs: cheap & expensive ones this the nicest guitar I have ever played. I have a Gibson Les Paul Std now and this Custom beats even the the Std. The only thing that shocked and surprised me was the Pick Up Selector switch was loose which kinda pissed me off but I took off the back cover and tightened it. I would normally give a 5 star review to any and all the Gibson Std's (17 to date) first one I bought in 1977 new for $700. somehow this slipped by Gibson Custom Shop... I am a Professional Player since 1977.
Sure, it's fun to play with a good feel, love the hot pickups, and it's a real looker in black with the gold hardware, butFOR THAT PRICE???!!!For this kind of dough I would expect a better bridge, nut material, volume/tone control knobs, and fret board at least. A Richlite fret board on a guitar with this price tag? All gold hardware except the control knobs? REALLY???For a LP 3 times better in the same price range, the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess is a better buy for the money. Push/pull coil splitting pots to turn each humbucker into single coil independently, a piezo pup under the Floyd Rose bridge, slimmer body with a fast neck, and it's real looker too... MY OH MY...OR:Twice as good at half the price, the Les Paul Pro II is amazing. Features an additional push/pull pot for a 5dB lead boost along with the coil splitting pots mentioned above with the vintage control knobs makes it a real looker too. This Gibson LP custom is merely not worth the money compared to many other Les Pauls.
