A great monitor at a great price

I’m just happy the panel has been kind to me and is still working without any issues. I can finally play at 4K 120 on my PS5 and push my PC to its 4K limits with room to grow when I upgrade next. I’d say it matches the quality of the Samsung panel I tried previously, just without some of the bells and whistles. But a working monitor is a good monitor in my book.

Now the one complaint I do have....There is 1 dead pixel that I did not notice until about a month after I bought it. I will say though, I havent noticed it again since the day I saw it.... but still for 700 OOD, I would have expected something like that to have been caught by any competant QA at Gigabyte. Unfortunately, it seems to be somewhat common and getting a perfect panel is something of a lottery. That said, if it has 3 or more dead pixels, your eligible for a replacement through Best Buy's protection plan ... MoreDue to Best Buy's amazing return policy, the best thing for you to do is get this and see if you like it in person with your set-up.Personally, it checked all my boxes and sated my want for a monitor that could output all that my PS5 could muster. I do get why some people would be pretty ticked off though, as some people WILL notice it everytime they look at the screen. All in all, get this monitor for gaming, you will not regret it BUT check for dead pixels the second it is plugged in on an all white/black/ and colored background. If it passes, you won! If not, get an exchange until Gigabyte finally knocks the dust off their QA department and dead pixels aren't the norm.

Great monitor, but...
28 March 2022

TL;DR: Great monitor, problems with multi-monitor setup and nVidia graphics card/drivers (probably not the monitor's fault)This is truly one of the best 4K monitors on the market right now, while also being one of the most affordable. The picture quality and color accuracy are outstanding and my panel had almost no backlight bleed (that I could notice anyway). The KVM is helpful for anyone trying to add more than one device. The high refresh paired with a powerful graphics card allows you to experience high refresh rate gaming in 4K, but it comes with a huge caveat that ended up leading me to return the monitor. The high refresh paired with a powerful graphics card allows you to experience high refresh rate gaming in 4K, but it comes with a huge caveat that ended up leading me to return the monitor. To get that high refresh rate, both the DisplayPort and HDMI ports require Display Stream Compression (DSC) and there is a known issue with nVidia's drivers where there are issues having multiple displays if any of them use DSC. This has led to me getting random black screens that last a few seconds every time I'm on the computer. I'm not sure if AMD cards suffer the same sort of issues and from what I saw online single-monitor setups don't have as many issues (if any). Some people have reported that you can also turn down color settings and/or lower your refresh rate to keep the display bandwidth under the point where DSC gets enabled. However, that didn't work for me. If Gigabyte had gone with a full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 port instead of relying on DSC, it would be a non-issue because I could still use that port without DSC kicking in. Hopefully they implement it in the next generation.

Has Input Lag. Bad for Comp Gaming
15 July 2021

I'll start with the Pros. For the price, this monitor has great specs (which is also why it's always sold out intermittently). This monitor has colors that pop and there is plenty of brightness that makes everything a joy to look at on the screen. The 4K and picture quality is really good. The Joystick on the back of the monitor is a great design. It feels durable and makes navigating the OSD an easy process. There is plenty inputs with two HDMI 2.1's, 3 USB's, headphone jack etc...The speakers actually sound decent to me and i dont know why other reviews on other sites say otherwise, they sound good for being built in. I would recommend this monitor for someone who wants a nice 4K experience for casual gaming, picture or video editing, or perhaps streaming movies. ... MoreI'll start with the Pros. For the price, this monitor has great specs (which is also why it's always sold out intermittently). I would recommend this monitor for someone who wants a nice 4K experience for casual gaming, picture or video editing, or perhaps streaming movies. However, if you're into competitive gaming and looking to get this for a next gen console like i did, i would reconsider.I bought this Monitor for my PS5 so i could experience 4K at 120 Hz on certain games but am dissapointed with the noticeable input lag. I play games like Apex, COD, Destiny etc... so every split second in game makes a difference for me. I also own an Asus VG249Q 23.8" FHD (not UHD) monitor and there is a very noticable difference with input delay between the two. My Asus is extremely snappy and quick and this Gigabyte monitor cannot match that one. I'm not sure if this is due to the difference in size but i know it's not the resolution because i also forced the resolution to 1080P and also tried 2K on my PS5 with the Gigabyte monitor and the input lag was still there. I could tell that when i move my joystick, the crosshairs and turning radius of my characters were slower and delayed compared to my smaller monitor. It actually caused me to do worse in games and i played many games while also trying and changing every single feature and setting on the Gigabyte monitor. I came to the conclusion that its just the monitor. It's almost like playing on my 55 inch 4k tv again with the relatable input delay. It's not fun knowing that you're milliseconds behind your enemies' actions and that they can aim at you quicker than you can them because of the display. Within the past 48 hours, i have been switching between both monitors i own and changing settings on the Gigabyte, the games, and my PS5 and there is nothing that takes away the input delay. So, i'm sad this monitor didn't work out. I really thought that HDMI 2.1 and the 144- HZ would be more than adequate to game on this display but i have exhauseted all the options with no real improvement. The input delay is not terrible, it is just noticeable to me and especially if you own another smaller monitor thats comparable and FHD, i would suggest to try competitive shooters side by side on them to see a difference for yourself because i noticed it and it did negatively affect me in games. I've never gamed on a 4k monitor before or one thats 27+ inches for that matter so i'm left wondering if this is a normal thing for bigger monitors or maybe this is just a weakness with the PS5 not outputting at its full peak with this monitor as opposed to my other (I dont game on PC). I'm surprised other reviewers haven't talked about input lag for this product. Perhaps they over look it? Does this matter to people? Moreover, if you're into console gaming but don't play too many competitive shooters or don't care about a greater input lag, then go ahead and try this out! This monitor is great for adventure or RPG games for an example. Also to mention, this thing is really heavy and the screen doesnt swivel side to side which i really wanted it to do. You can however adjust the height of the screen which i did appreciate. The supplied cords were too short and i would suggest to make them longer to allow more room for desk placement. From my expereince here, it feels that when picking monitors you will have to choose between the ultimatum of favoring either performance or picture quality. Bigger screens and better resolutions may provide worse performance with input lag. Smaller screens with less resolutions can provide minimal delays and better response times. Maybe the tech isn't ready yet, I know next gen consoles are still new and so are the few capable monitors to run the max specs.Anyhow, I'm still looking for that one display with superb picture quality, 120hz+, fast RT, and NO input lag. Unfortunately, this one was not it.

Nice looking monitor, bad burn in
9 February 2023

I cannot put in to adequate words just how nice the screen is on this monitor. Doing anything on it is a mind blowing step up from the previous IPS panels I have used in the past. It does what it says on the tin, I'm just disappointed that the burn in issue is so quick to present itself and in such stark fashion.Pros:- looks fantastic, can't stress this enough.- Easy to set up- Menu system is goodCons- I've been using it for a week and already have horrendous burn in, which is now visible whenever I watch films/shows or play games on it. I'm a bit disappointed that using a computer monitor for web browsing for literally one day has left a shadow bar on the top of the panel. Not sure if this is resolvable, but it certainly puts a bitter taste in your mouth ... MoreI cannot put in to adequate words just how nice the screen is on this monitor. After a few days of use, it started blinking every 3 or 4 seconds, which did my head in. Switched to a better quality DP cable and that seems to have fixed it, though it doesn't seem to like having an HDMI cable plugged in at the same time (using it as a second monitor for my work laptop).- Speakers are horrendous, but I didn't actually know it had them until my default sound device switched over, so I don't really care about that.

Pleasantly surprised

I was using a 4k 32" Dell U3219Q monitor for work, which has an excellent picture but was fixed 60Hz. Red was reduced to 92% and Green to 86%, and brightness increased to 90%. There are also six colour channels and I made some minor changes to hues and saturation in some of those but that's a personal preference. The only issue is white text on a black screen isn't as white and crisp as it is on the Dell, the whites aren't quite bright enough. and nothing I tried could fix that. Also sharpness could be very slightly better, but only noticeable when having the two screens side by side. It's the compromise that has to be made at this kind of price point. The VRR works well with my Nvidia 30 series GPU, no complaints there, though apparently it doesn't work below 48Hz.I don't tend to touch the other settings, though I've turned Overdrive off. I noticed in MS Flight Sim there was massive ghosting on the clouds. It mostly disappears when I set it to Picture Quality, but I don't play superfast games so I just switched it off completely.Build quality is good, but the large v-shaped feet are bigger than they need to be, preventing you from getting the keyboard as close I would like. The rough plastic effect gives it a bit of a cheaper fill, smooth would have been better. Also the 'chin' at the bottom of the panel is too large, it would have been better if they'd used the same slim bezel at the sides and top. Otherwise the design is nice and simple, no unnecessary fancy lights or features at the back. The OSD has a comprehensive set of functions such as the six channel adjustments mentioned above, though this is not available in all modes, so I used one of the three Custom modes for my preferred settings. The joystick at the back of the panel can get a bit tiring to use if you're spending more than a few seconds making adjustments, which is where the OSD Sidekick software is useful. You'll also need that to update the firmware.Note, if you want to use the KVM I believe you can only do this with a laptop that supports video and peripheral signal via a USB-C cable, like a Macbook Pro, and you'll need a Thunderbolt cable to do this, and these are not cheap. A normal USB-C charging cable won't work.

Still a very good 4K monitor value
11 November 2022

It's not the latest 4K UHD monitor model anymore, but it's still a very solid performer (especially when it's on sale). The screen size works well on my desk (anything larger would not be practical for me). The build is plain black plastic with no RGB, but it seems well made and it should suit most desktop situations. I'm not a gamer, but the $K screen is great for standard PC uses (e.g., email, productivity, web surfing, etc.). Watching streaming video is especially nice on the M28U.Cons: HDMI 2.1 ports are limited to 24 Gbps (instead of fulll 48 Gbps); 144 hz refresh rate only available with Display Port; no swivel adjustment; can be a little tricky to shut down (hard to tell sometimes if on/off button on the back of the monitor has been properly pressed); and ... MoreIt's not the latest 4K UHD monitor model anymore, but it's still a very solid performer (especially when it's on sale). The perfect display - 4K means tiny little pixels for clear text and beautiful detail. The high refresh rate and 1ms response time means no flicker ever. I use it as my primary work display with work laptop and a third screen along side. This display ROCKS for text. So smooth and clear. And as a gaming display it's flat-out gorgeous.Unboxing is impressive, with clear instructions so you don't touch the display, and it comes with US, UK and Weird power cords! Must be Euro? Plus a really good HDMI cord, DisplayPort cable and USB-a to that really big square USB.Didn't realize it had KVM also... I'll have to think about whether I can use that or not. I just bought a KVM from Amazon for $250. It'd be nice if I could return that...Beautiful monitor tho. Is 28" too ... MoreThe perfect display - 4K means tiny little pixels for clear text and beautiful detail. The high refresh rate and 1ms response time means no flicker ever. Leaving a curved 32" Dell for this, I don't feel like I have less room at all - in fact my desk feels bigger because there isn't a wall of crappy display in the middle of it.

100% satisfied with this product. at first i wasnt really happy with the way the picture looked, but luckily it comes with a wide array of picture options, and i eventually found one that i was happy with. the only downsides i can think of (other than the price) isnt really a downside, but the monitor has its fair share of what i would catt useless features like a built in FPS counter that doesnt actually display the current framerate of the application youre youre running, it just stays statically at whatever you set your computers max FPS to, so unless if you want to have a constant reminder what your computers max framerate is, its pretty much useless. theres also a dashboard feature thats supposed to show your current computers CPU temp, CPU voltage, mouse DPI, ... More100% satisfied with this product. at first i wasnt really happy with the way the picture looked, but luckily it comes with a wide array of picture options, and i eventually found one that i was happy with. the only downsides i can think of (other than the price) isnt really a downside, but the monitor has its fair share of what i would catt useless features like a built in FPS counter that doesnt actually display the current framerate of the application youre youre running, it just stays statically at whatever you set your computers max FPS to, so unless if you want to have a constant reminder what your computers max framerate is, its pretty much useless. theres also a dashboard feature thats supposed to show your current computers CPU temp, CPU voltage, mouse DPI, ect, but how would the MONITOR be able to know that? i tried turning it on, and not surprisingly it said N/A for everything.so overall, if youre looking into a good 4k monitor and are ok with some pointless features, definitely go for it
