I've used an electric razor for pretty much all my adult shaving years, so when I had the opportunity to review the Gillette Fusion ProShield Razor with Flexball Technology I had to take the challenge and see what it was all about. So here it is!I received the razor a few days ago for free from Gillette (thanks so much!) with a can of their ProGlide shaving gel to use as well. The razor is simply packaged in plastic and at first glance looks like no other manual razor I've ever seen. Now don't forget, I've only ever used an electric razor for shaving, so I don't really know much about manual razors to begin with. This razor is almost like a Dyson vacuum with it's 'swivel' head that pivots in many directions because of the 'FlexBall'. The cartridge has 4 blades which I figure is a good thing as 4 is better than 1! I'm not one that has a lot of facial hair to shave (as seen in the pics) so I waited as long as I could before giving it a try. So on with the shaving gel and away I went giving this product a go! Since I'm not one that uses a manual razor it took a little getting used to, but over all it does exactly what it's supposed to do and that's give a nice close, clean shave. Aside from cutting myself 3 different times (my fault for going against the grain of the hair and not with it!) the razor easily went through the hair on it's first pass. The most difficult areas were around the chin and lip which needed a couple passes to make it nice and smooth, but the razor was able to do it smoothly with little difficulty. Not sure if it was because I was going the wrong way, or if it's typical of a manual razor shave, but once I was finished I did have a slight 'burning' type feeling on my face (razor burn maybe?!), but I don't believe it's because of the razor but because of how I was actually shaving and my lack of experience with a manual razor. Comparing it to an electric razor I do feel this makes your face smoother thus it cuts the hair down shorter. The next day my face still feels pretty smooth which normally from an electric razor I have a little stubble already growing in. As for the 'FlexBall' and whether it makes a difference, well the razor seemed to hug every little curve on my face and didn't appear to lose contact when shaving so I would have to say it does what it's supposed to do as well. Over all I would give this razor a 4/5 stars and would recommend it to anyone who wants a close, comfortable shave which a quality razor.Pro:4 bladesFlexBall holds the razor around the curve of your faceLeaves a nice clean, smooth shaveCons:Had a little trouble shaving against the grain on the chin area (which is where I ended up with a couple small nicks)Gave me a little 'razor burn' from shaving wrong direction or too fast/many times in one area

I started shaving in 7th grade and back then I just had to worry about a few wimpy hairs above my upper lip. Now I'm outta highschool and I have places to be and people I want to impress plus a few more hairs than what I originally sported in 7th grade. Shaving to me was never something I dreaded (luckily I don't seem to have very sensitive skin and I am not too susceptible to bumps or ingrown hairs) but at the same time it wasn't something I enjoyed much either. Shaving to me was never something I dreaded (luckily I don't seem to have very sensitive skin and I am not too susceptible to bumps or ingrown hairs) but at the same time it wasn't something I enjoyed much either. This began to change though when one day I started getting curious and I wanted to adventure outside of some of the razors I was using (mostly disposables like the Gillette Sensor 2 which is a very nice disposable but not my preferred regular shaver and a couple cartridge razors from Gillette competitors that I had been gifted by family) I tried a safety razor and while I understand the appeal it just isn't for me. While you can get a real nice shave with one it takes practice to not nick yourself and even more practice to get proficient and consistent with one and even upon becoming proficient with one it is still much more time consuming shaving with a safety razor than going with a cartridge/disposable razor. Having had that experience I decided maybe I should look back towards cartridge razors but instead try a different brand and that's when I ran into the Proshield. The shave I get from this razor is amazing. It's quick and close and the 5 blades means there is never a need for more than 1 pass which saves so much time I'd normally spend doing multiple passes with a safety razor to get a similar close shave. The lubrication strips are a nice addition and help make the shave even more refreshing and can be a nice way to tell about how worn out your cartridge is. The handle has a little bit of weight to it which not only makes it feel high quality but also makes it so I don't need to apply much pressure at all and I can just let the razor do its job. Personally I am very satisfied with how much use I get out of each cartridge but this will vary from individual to individual based on your shaving habits, how well you take care of your cartridge, and in general just when you like to swap it out. Just be sure to keep your cartridge nice and clean and to store your razor in a good spot after you shave. Overall this razor has definitely earned its spot in my shaving routine and has made shaving much more enjoyable for me as well as giving me a quicker, closer, and more refreshing shave each and every time.

I came into this campaign not really sure how i'd feel about this new Gillette Fusion ProShield Chill Razor. It's been a very long time since I invested in a razor with more than 3 blades andthe price of razors has me shaving less and less. I was intrigued by the "Chill" associated with this razor, that was one of my reasons for joining this campaign. I new this razor would be coming soon, so I held off shaving at all until it arrived. I wanted to give it a fair shot and I don't grow facial hair at the fastest or densest rate! When it arrived the first thing I noticed was the blue "chill" lubricating strip surrounding the blades. After taking it out of the package I noticed the weight, it has a good, solid handle that is comfortable to hold with enough weight to make it feel well built without being too heavy. One thing I can't stand is a flimsy handle that isn't weighted properly and isn't comfortable in the hand. This razor earned it's first star for it's handle. I then decided to take this baby for a test drive, so I lathered up and gave the blades a quick rinse and dived right in. After a few swipes, you immediately begin to feel the cooling effect on your skin. This is a nice touch because when you have sensitive skin like I do, the slight burning that comes after shaving is uncomfortable and annoying. I usually use a nice, moisturizing after shave lotion. With this razor I could completely skip that step as the cooling sensation lasts for around 30-45 minutes after shaving! That earned this razor another star, with an added bonus star for allowing me to skip a step in my normal shaving routine. After shaving and rinsing off my face I ran my hand closely over my skin to inspect the closeness of the shave, I figured with it having the Flexball technology it would help the razor contour better to my face and eliminate the need for touch ups. It did provide me with a closer shave than i'm use to, but it did leave a few spots where it was just a tad rough. Still better than anything I was used to, but none the less I touched it up a bit and got rid of those minor rough spots. The 5 blades are definitely comfortable on the skin and eliminated a lot of the 'razor burn" i'm used to getting after a shave, albeit, that could also be from the "Chill" lubricating strips on the razor. All in all, I feel that this razor provided a clean, comfortable shave with a nice cool finish that helped eliminate the need for any aftershave. I am a little worried that the "chill" lubricating strip will not outlast the blade itself. I don't think I will be able to get more than 4 or 5 shaves out of this before it is completely gone when I typically can get around 8 shaves before needing to change blades. Thus I took off 1 star for the durability of the lubricating "chill" strip. I would recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin as it was very comfortable and if they can figure out a way to make the lubricating strip last the entire life of the blade, I may have finally found a razor worth spending the ungodly amount of money for blades!I received this product for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I am trying to go back to Gillette after using a different brand for the past several years. I wanted to switch back because the other brand seems to be giving me a worse shave and more irritation lately. I have used the Proshield twice now on my face and neck and it does give me a much closer and smoother shave, leaving much less irritation and essentially no tugging or discomfort during my shave. Although I like the shave it gives me, after 1 shave the "conditioning" strips started falling apart. After 2 shaves they are completely breaking down and were clogging up my bladder during use. I cannot justify continuing with these blades if they fall apart after a couple uses. I cannot justify continuing with these blades if they fall apart after a couple uses. The blade I was using, although somewhat irritating at times, would last 4+ weeks without wearing down. I was even shaving nearly my whole body with that razor. All Gillette blades are severely overpriced and needing to replace them potentially after just a few shaves makes ZERO sense. I will probably buy one more pack of blades but if they keep breaking down like this there is NO WAY I'm going to use Gillette. That's like $2 per shave...
I'm an avid shaver. I actually look forward to shaving (haha). I shave with both cartridge razors and when I feel like pampering myself I shave with a DE safety razor. So I'm always looking for fun, interesting razors to add to my collection.I saw this limited edition Gillette Fusion 5 Proshield razor and I had to get it, especially since I actually never shaved with a Fusion 5 product before. When it comes to Gillette I'm usually a Mach 3 guy.Pros: It comes in a very handsome package, it definitely feels like you bought something of value. It comes with a nifty razor stand. Its small but nice enough to elevate the décor of your bathroom and keep your handle clean and presentable. The limited edition razor handle is also very nice. Its half metal and half rubberized plastic. I'm actually a little disappointed there wasn't more metal in the handle but its still a very nice handleThe shave itself is very nice. There's always a huge debate whether you need more than 1 or 2 blades in a razor but I definitely feel like it makes a significant difference. I'm a Mach 3 guy and even though the Mach 3 is more than enough for any average shaver, the Fusion 5 Proshield shaves smoother and closer on the first pass. Its the first razor I used where I didn't nick or cut myself on the first shave. Super comfortable and I had no skin irritation, skin burn or bumps afterwards.Cons: Even though the razor price is reasonable, when its time for a replacement head, its pretty expensive. To be fair to Gillette, a cartridge should last you about a months worth of shave (shaving 3 times a week, which is what I do) so a pack of 8 should last you 8 months. But even so, understandably, some guys don't want to spend 28$+ for refills. The other con is the lube strip. On the first shave the lube strip significantly deteriorated. It looks like a dog chewed up the lube strip. It doesn't seem to be affected in performance after a couple of shaves but it definitely is a concern for me that on the first shave it almost looks completely worn out and definitely negatively impacts my perception on the quality of the cartridge. All in all, although being an avid shaver I'm never settled to one razor I'm always intrigued to shave with as many interesting products as I can, Gillette definitely has my respects when it comes to the Fusion 5 pro shield. When I eventually settle down I can see myself stick with the Fusion 5 pro shield. I just hope that future carriages have improved durability on the lube strips
I am in my 70's now, have been shaving for many decades. I buy and try almost every new razor--I have used Gillette stating with Super Blue, Stainless steel, Track II, Techmatic, Atra, Mach 3, Proglide etc. I have also tried Dollar Shave Club and Harry's. Nothing comes close to this blade, best blade ever. I would like Gillette to fit this blade for the expensive heated razor--I will buy it then.
Bought the razor starter kit, got the razor in a travel case and they said for some reason the blade refills would come 2 weeks later. It's been 3 weeks and still no refills. I've used the razor 4 times and the blades are still in good shape, gives me a close shave. With dollar shave club I'd have to switch blades after each shave it would leave razor burn so badly, so I'm glad I can feel comfortable using these a reasonable amount of times before having to swap blades.

A vibrating razor? Seems gimmicky at first, but it actually does do a better job of cutting through hair. It’s a fairly subtle difference, but if you compare this to a normal 5-blade Gillette, it catches and pulls a lot less and gets a smoother shave with fewer strokes. Also seems to need less blade changing. I haven’t needed to replace a battery after using this for several months, so it would seem that the battery life is pretty decent too. Takes one AAA in the handle. Seems waterproof, I use it in the shower without problems. Only real downside of this razor is that the handle is a little more bulky and plasticky than a typical Gillette handle, so it feels just slightly less premium. Obviously the handle needs to be larger to accomodate the battery, but it would be nice if it was more metallic, had a more matte finish, and had more rubber on the handle.
After using other Gillette blades and handles, I have been trying the ProGlide Shield blade and handle for the last several weeks. The handle is heavier by a bit than my older handle. The blades seems stiffer. Generally a good shave from all of this, but I have cuts after most shaves, whereas with the older five-blade system, no cuts. I can't figure out why, except it feels like the lead blade in the Shield line is angled a little differently than it is with others. The whole arrangement seems larger and less agile than what I used before.
