I started shaving in 7th grade and back then I just had to worry about a few wimpy hairs above my upper lip. Now I'm outta highschool and I have places to be and people I want to impress plus a few more hairs than what I originally sported in 7th grade. Shaving to me was never something I dreaded (luckily I don't seem to have very sensitive skin and I am not too susceptible to bumps or ingrown hairs) but at the same time it wasn't something I enjoyed much either. While you can get a real nice shave with one it takes practice to not nick yourself and even more practice to get proficient and consistent with one and even upon becoming proficient with one it is still much more time consuming shaving with a safety razor than going with a cartridge/disposable razor. Having had that experience I decided maybe I should look back towards cartridge razors but instead try a different brand and that's when I ran into the Proshield. The shave I get from this razor is amazing. It's quick and close and the 5 blades means there is never a need for more than 1 pass which saves so much time I'd normally spend doing multiple passes with a safety razor to get a similar close shave. The lubrication strips are a nice addition and help make the shave even more refreshing and can be a nice way to tell about how worn out your cartridge is. The handle has a little bit of weight to it which not only makes it feel high quality but also makes it so I don't need to apply much pressure at all and I can just let the razor do its job. Personally I am very satisfied with how much use I get out of each cartridge but this will vary from individual to individual based on your shaving habits, how well you take care of your cartridge, and in general just when you like to swap it out. Just be sure to keep your cartridge nice and clean and to store your razor in a good spot after you shave. Overall this razor has definitely earned its spot in my shaving routine and has made shaving much more enjoyable for me as well as giving me a quicker, closer, and more refreshing shave each and every time.

When I received the Gillette Fusion Proshield Razor directly from Gillette, I was pleasantly surprised by the construction and sturdiness of the razor. I had often looked at the Gillette ProGlide razors and was impressed with the FlexBall technology and how it would move with the various contours of your face. I hesitated making the purchase as I strictly use razors to trim my neck and cheeks since I typically have a beard year round. Now that I have been using the Proshield razor for over a week now, I wonder what I was possibly thinking. With the combination of the ProGlide Sensitive Gel, this razor smoothly "glided" over my neck and course hair. Whereas I use to nick myself with other razors, the Proshield didn't pull on the course hair or cut me. The precision trimmer on the edge also allowed me to get a cleaner look around the beard line. Since these blades provide lubrication before and after each stroke, I have not suffered any razor burn and have noticed that the initial blade I have been using has suffered very little degradation in the lubrication layer. As far as the main razor is concerned, it is made of, what looks like, a sturdy metal and is very attractive compared to other manual razors on the market. It has a good weight to it that is easy to handle and makes you confident in it's grip. The FlexBall moves to every contour and I expect that this razor will last for years. After using this razor and seeing the benefits with how it prevents irritation, I expect to make this a regular fixture in my household and look forward to using it for the foreseeable future.

After trying the competition for a couple of years, including double-edge razors, I'm back to Gillette. I decided to try other shaving systems after listening to my wife complain about the price of Gillette refill cartridges (she shaves her legs with a cheap disposable. What does she know?), eventually settling on a double-edge razor. No more. I mostly got tired of the time required for prepping, using, and clean-up with a double-edge, and decided to go back to the Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Shield razor I had been using before. With the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Gel+Skin Care, I got a much shave better with less irritation than anything else I had tried, plus the prep, shave, and clean-up took about half the time of a double-edge razor shave. Now I'm back to Gillette for good, the brand I have relied on since beginning to shave as a teenager (I'm now 65). One performance tip: A shaving brush with a little water added to shaving gel in a bowl will whip up a luxurious cream that is hard to duplicate with your fingers!
I am trying to go back to Gillette after using a different brand for the past several years. I wanted to switch back because the other brand seems to be giving me a worse shave and more irritation lately. I have used the Proshield twice now on my face and neck and it does give me a much closer and smoother shave, leaving much less irritation and essentially no tugging or discomfort during my shave. Although I like the shave it gives me, after 1 shave the "conditioning" strips started falling apart. After 2 shaves they are completely breaking down and were clogging up my bladder during use. I cannot justify continuing with these blades if they fall apart after a couple uses. I was even shaving nearly my whole body with that razor. All Gillette blades are severely overpriced and needing to replace them potentially after just a few shaves makes ZERO sense. I will probably buy one more pack of blades but if they keep breaking down like this there is NO WAY I'm going to use Gillette. That's like $2 per shave...
I'm an avid shaver. I actually look forward to shaving (haha). I shave with both cartridge razors and when I feel like pampering myself I shave with a DE safety razor. So I'm always looking for fun, interesting razors to add to my collection.I saw this limited edition Gillette Fusion 5 Proshield razor and I had to get it, especially since I actually never shaved with a Fusion 5 product before. When it comes to Gillette I'm usually a Mach 3 guy.Pros: It comes in a very handsome package, it definitely feels like you bought something of value. It comes with a nifty razor stand. Its small but nice enough to elevate the décor of your bathroom and keep your handle clean and presentable. The limited edition razor handle is also very nice. Its small but nice enough to elevate the décor of your bathroom and keep your handle clean and presentable. The limited edition razor handle is also very nice. Its half metal and half rubberized plastic. I'm actually a little disappointed there wasn't more metal in the handle but its still a very nice handleThe shave itself is very nice. There's always a huge debate whether you need more than 1 or 2 blades in a razor but I definitely feel like it makes a significant difference. I'm a Mach 3 guy and even though the Mach 3 is more than enough for any average shaver, the Fusion 5 Proshield shaves smoother and closer on the first pass. Its the first razor I used where I didn't nick or cut myself on the first shave. Super comfortable and I had no skin irritation, skin burn or bumps afterwards.Cons: Even though the razor price is reasonable, when its time for a replacement head, its pretty expensive. To be fair to Gillette, a cartridge should last you about a months worth of shave (shaving 3 times a week, which is what I do) so a pack of 8 should last you 8 months. But even so, understandably, some guys don't want to spend 28$+ for refills. The other con is the lube strip. On the first shave the lube strip significantly deteriorated. It looks like a dog chewed up the lube strip. It doesn't seem to be affected in performance after a couple of shaves but it definitely is a concern for me that on the first shave it almost looks completely worn out and definitely negatively impacts my perception on the quality of the cartridge. All in all, although being an avid shaver I'm never settled to one razor I'm always intrigued to shave with as many interesting products as I can, Gillette definitely has my respects when it comes to the Fusion 5 pro shield. When I eventually settle down I can see myself stick with the Fusion 5 pro shield. I just hope that future carriages have improved durability on the lube strips
I received my free Gillette Fusion® ProShieldâ„¢ Razor with Flexballâ„¢ Technology from Gillette to review a little over two weeks ago. While I will provide more detail below, I will cut right to the meat in my review of the Gillette Fusion ProShield with Flexball Technology and say that overall, this is a high performance razor that indeed cuts through whiskers like a hot knife through butter.Being someone with thick whiskers but sensitive skin – it is always important to me to make sure the razor I use not only has a solid/sharp blade system…but also has good lubrication built in. The ProShield with Flexball definitely covers those bases.I made sure to give this razor a “real world†test. By that I mean – I made sure to shave with it after varying days of growth.First, I sheaved every day for four days with very good results (both in maintaining a clean shave as well as no skin irritation). Then, I shaved every other day for a week. Still a close shave each time…and still no irritation. While there was obviously more whisker build-up in the blades while shaving…nothing a rinse in the water and blowing into the head didn’t clear right up as normal. After that, I stopped shaving on Sunday and only shaved on Thursday. While the shave was still as smooth as expected it did take a little more work (said a few passes) to clear some spots. This led to a bit more rinsing and blowing into the head to clean it – but I think that is a fair expectation with that much stubble to plow thorough.Since I have been a Gillette user for a years so I had high expectations of this razor. While the shave itself (and comfort of doing so) were exactly what I expected (clean, close and un-irritated) – I will say the only callouts (not really "cons") I found were the following.First, the razor body itself may be found to be a bit clunky or unnecessarily “heavy†to some.Second, I am not sure what the Flexball does for me if I am honest. To be fair though, that may just be because I have been so happy with Gillette razors and the way they shave for so long (Mach II, Fusion, ProGlide, Power) that I have just come to expect it. I am sure it is meant for better contouring…but, again, since they have been such well-designed razors for so long it may just be unnecessary and may actually contribute to the possibility of some folks finding it to be “too clunky†as I mentioned before.Third, while I have not purchased any replacements, my assumption is the replacement packs are higher priced. That assumption coming from (as mentioned previously) I have been a Gillette user for years. Therefore, the grain of salt there may just be – you pay a bit more for higher quality.Over all – I like this razor and would recommend it to friends – especially those with thick facial hair or sensitive skin. Even if the replacement razors end up being a bit pricier than the competition.
I am in my 70's now, have been shaving for many decades. I buy and try almost every new razor--I have used Gillette stating with Super Blue, Stainless steel, Track II, Techmatic, Atra, Mach 3, Proglide etc. I have also tried Dollar Shave Club and Harry's. Nothing comes close to this blade, best blade ever. I would like Gillette to fit this blade for the expensive heated razor--I will buy it then.

And let's start educating young men. We're not gorillas for Pete's sake!(The "add photo" button below would get me arrested in some states. I'll politely decline.)
I am 51 and know how to shave properly. I have used these blades happily in the past, and while I normally get nowhere near 20 shaves on my face, I literally can not get more than 4 shaves out of my current blades that I purchased directly from Gillette on November 14, 2022. I've tried the best Gillette shaving creams along with other brands, and each time, it's the same result...my skin just gets pulled and cut. These don't appear to be fake, given the ID markings and aligned markings, but if I didn't know better, I'd identify them as imposters. I only need to shave a few days a week, and I just started using the new pack about 5 weeks ago...what a disappointment.
