Giro Riddance MTB Shoe Black/Dark Shadow - Shoes - 38

$105.00

(40 reviews)

Many slopestyle, DH, Enduro, and trail riders prefer rocking flat pedals for those occasions when going flat out requires foot out and the ability to separate yourself quickly from the bike for a trick or an unfortunate crash is necessary. Giro's new flat pedal offering, the Men's Riddance Cycling Shoe is designed for such disciplines where pedaling efficiency is still valued and slipping a foot off the pedal isn't fast, it's scary, and cushioning and protection are important criteria as well. To mitigate the chance of your foot blowing off the pedal, Giro worked with its long-time rubber supplier, Vibram, to create the stickiest shoe compound it has ever launched. Dubbed Megagrip ISR, the outsole's rubber helps dampen vibrations and sticks to the pedals like flypaper. Underneath the rubber is a full-length EVA midsole that soaks up the hits from hucks-to-flat or bone-jarring bottom outs. The microfiber upper is both hardwearing and supple while being water-resistant and its traditional lace closure, with a keeper, offers an optimized fit and casual looks. The front and rear of the shoes receive rubber reinforcements to improve durability in these high-wear areas. Finally, the molded DH EVA footbed with arch support further adds comfort and support so the last thing on your mind when it comes to clearing that gap jump is your feet.

Cheap materials, stiff upper, although good looking

I ordered a few pairs of new MTB to try. Unfortunately, these were by far the worst quality - stiff, cheap-feeling upper that dug into my toes when I walked. They also had a very stiff sole compared to the others I tried (North wave, Ride Concepts, etc). The only thing this shoe had going on was a good style. I returned and kept the Ride Concepts TNT shoes - they are so comfortable, no break-in period, perfect mid stiffness sole.

Excited to find the Riddance

I wear a size 16 (50/51) shoe and when I saw Giro made a mtb shoe in a 50 I had to give em a try. I picked up the Riddance because the price was right and I am trying to find a shoe for riding that is made for riding. They are a stiff shoe with protection around the toe box. The 50 is a bit tight so I am stretching them out this winter and hoping there?ll be more room by spring when it?s time to ride trails and gravel.

Giro still makes a good shoe
28 August 2023

These things are good, especially for the price. They are sturdy and work well. I don't like them as much as my OG Giro Jackets (the quality was slightly better and the design was such that they wouldn't fall apart as fast from walking flexion). It's a heavy plastic shoe made for flat pedals. I like them.

Good alternative to FiveTens

Ridden these for a year, they are starting to come apart. Sole its still in good condition. The grip of Vibram soles isn't as sticky as the stealth rubber of Freerider. I prefer these soles, I'm able to adjust foot position without having to lift up. The vibram soles don't get torn apart by pedal pins, grip is consistent for the life of the shoe. The little elastic lace loops are genius, hold the lace in place, they don't get caught on vegetation, and don't work loose.Fit is a bit narrow.

Great for wide feet.
6 February 2022

I have a EE wide foot and couldn't find comfortable mountain bike shoes. These shoes run wide enough so my feet are comfortable. Not a hike around town shoe. Stiff with good grip and support. Just what I was looking for.

Great product
25 October 2019

Very comfortable with just the right amount of protection heel and toe. Great grip on the pedals. Definitely feel the difference wearing these from a normal pair of trainers on the bike. Highly recommend these for anyone with flat pedals on their mountain bike. Nice and stylish too.

Great support, lacks grip
22 September 2018

Had some Jacket and freerider shoes. Wanted something stiffer than the freeriders and liked the support of the Jackets. Went with these and was disapointed with the amount of grip. Now looking into getting them resoled with stealth rubber. I feel like I had more grip with the tread pattern on the Jackets than these .

Second pair and still loving them
10 August 2020

I purchased a pair of 5.10's when I switched to platform pedals and found them to be too tight (I have somewhat wide feet). They took forever to break in and were never totally comfortable. Then I tried the Giro Riddance and it was a breath of fresh air. Super comfortable and very supportive. I can wear them on a 3 hour ride without a problem. I ride xc trails and enduro and I find that the Vibram rubber is a good compromise of sticky and durable. I never pop off the pedals even on chunky downhill.

Tough shoe!
13 October 2021

Great shoe. Biked 35mi through Pisgah Forest over 3 days with shoes right out of the box and they did great. Ended up putting a larger insole in them as the 48 was a little big but that solved it. Brought them home soaking wet and covered in mud, dropped them in washer and dried them in the sun and they are ready to go again!
