I can't describe how good is my Slate Plus. I am about to order right now a secondary Mango ,to be extra safe, and upgrade also in the future my home router.For sure, i am more than happy for the purchase that i have made 1 year ago ,and it's constantly running without interruptions.

Basically, the device is fine. Setup is relatively easy and understandable. The solution for public hotspots with a captive portal is not ideal and I hope for a better solution in the future.Most important: Unfortunately, the speed is not sufficient for my needs, especially with OpenVPN and also with Wireguard. I should have bought a different travel router like the Beryl AX. Unfortunately I missed the return period.

We have been using GL products for years now due to their longevity, high quality and responsive community support. Can't say anything about the built in apps/features as we run a custom build of OpenWRT on all devices but the hardware is perfect for the price point and the continued commitment by the GL team to both open source development and end customers is why we will continue to use these devices in the future.

Good router for it's price! Speeds are not amazing, but let's be honest - when you are abroad it does not matter that much if you have 100 or 200 mbits speed. It's important to be connected AND protected. This router does this well enough. Please note however, it does not support DFS channels, and this might lead to some incompatibilities - just FYI
One of its standout features is its ability to create a new WiFi network in places like hotel rooms. This means I no longer have to go through the tedious process of reconfiguring WiFi settings on my devices. Even better, it effortlessly handles networks with login pages. Log in once, and all your devices are good to go! It's a good Travel-friendly WiFi router.
I spend over 100 nights a year in hotels and not having to constantly enter credentials into crummy and insecure hotel wifi is great. The setup is easy and the dashboard is clear and easy to use. Setting up a Wireguard VPN took 2 minutes and works great. Tethering to my phone is also straightforward and works great.
I have not actually used it other than testing at my desk, which it works great. The purpose was/is to extend my range for astrophotography in the back yard. The wifi system that's on the telescope does not have the range to get to the house so this will attach to that wifi and extend to the wifi in the house... Hopefully. OS fingers crossed. Otherwise will use on the road in hotels etc. Overall love the idea and will try it full tilt at some point.
I spend about 150 nights a year in hotels. This router is a blessing. While it eliminates the need to sign in to the hotel with each device, it also improves the speed and stability of the internet, and it allows me to run a VPN on the router. I won't travel without it. I typically stay at Marriott properties that provide an Ethernet port in the room. Internet speeds are usually higher, and the connection more stable with Ethernet versus WiFi. I love this product!!!
