Over 124 years of pioneering work - for 20 years William Grant had the dream of making the "best whisky in the valley". With the help of his family, he finally made his dream come true. In the summer of 1886, William, along with his seven sons and two daughters, began to fulfill his lifelong dream. Together, they began building a distillery, brick by brick. After a year of hard work, the time had come and William named it Glenfiddich, Gaelic for "Valley of the Deer." William's passion, determination and pioneering spirit continue to shape Glenfiddich to the present day. The world's most awarded single malt Scotch whisky is still produced today at the distillery, which is still family-owned and has managed to preserve the innovative character of its founder through five generations. Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman has revived the original taste. Thanks to careful tasting of the original whisky from 1963 and the original recipe from one of the old leather-bound books from 1960, he has succeeded in resurrecting the famous fresh and fruity taste.
