Glenmorangie Azuma Makoto 18 Year Old Extremely Rare

(7 reviews)

The result of a unique collaboration between the famous world-renowned Japanese floral artist Azuma Makoto and the Glenmorangie distillery, this limited edition is a Single Malt of great distinction. The pioneer of "botanical sculpture" was seduced by the aromatic bouquet of the 18-year-old Glenmorangie: "It opens with rich and sweet aromas of dried fruits and honey, then unfolds into a bouquet of geranium, tuberose and jasmine. It reveals itself with honeysuckle and sweet peas, figs and walnuts until the blossoms fade into a smooth, lingering finish." Glenmorangie 18 years old x Azuma Makoto has benefited from an initial fifteen-year ageing in American white oak barrels, then about 30% of the liquid has been transferred to Sherry Oloroso barrels to age there for another three years. When the two liquids reach 18 years old, the distillery team mixes again to create a whisky with a rich bouquet and a full-bodied palate. As Azuma Makoto translated the sweetness of the whisky from the Bourbon cask and the sweet notes of the Oloroso Sherry cask, he was inspired by the beauty of nearly 100 different flowers from around the world to create in his Tokyo studio his "floral Dancing Flowers of Glenmorangie" masterpiece, to be found in this limited edition.
