Found out about this keyboard via Reddit and YouTube reviews. I was interested in getting a new mechanical keyboard at the time and wanted to go for something where I would be more involved in the building and customization process.I like the board overall, especially in appearance in its finish and layout. Else, I'd tell them to get a premade keyboard with their preferred switch and layout to avoid the hassle of fixing up the aforementioned issues.I don't regret getting this board and I find joy I'm using it and just seeing it on my desk in general.

Bought the GMMK Pro barebones and it has been a great keyboard so far. I had more budget keyboards in the past, so this one definitely has a more premium feel. I also bought the GMMK Keypad separately, and the main annoyance so far is with the Glorious Core software. For the GMMK Keypad, it allows you to change the knob and the slider independently to control different audio sources. For some reason, Glorious Core doesn't allow you to do the same for the GMMK Pro.I hope someone can fix this soon because it is quite annoying.I also wish there were a way to change the key map for different layers within Glorious Core to map keys when pressing the function key. Other than that, the keyboard and the lighting works great, just needs some software updates.

As first-time custom keyboarder, I appreciate how easy this particular board is to set up and get going: just pop in switches, keycaps, and get rolling. This thing is built like a tank, and just feels like quality.A couple of observations, not negatives, just things that would be amazing if/when they make a V2 of this bad boy.1. better feet. I know this seems like a tiny thing, but I really don't care much for the tiny little rubber feet on the bottom. I'd really like to see a larger, maybe silicone, set of pads for a little more sound isolation and a little more cushioning on hard surfaces.2. A backlight color change when the caps lock key is on. Having the side lights blink is nice, but I'd like to be able to see right away if I'm yelling online :P3. Less ... Nothing any of the bigger "gamer" companies make at this price, or higher, comes close.Would 100% buy again and again. It makes WFH bearable and everything else amazing.
The GMMK Pro is good but not great for a first keyboard. It has a solid quality case and decent RGB. However it is notoriously difficult to work with when it comes to building it, and I couldn’t get any stabs but the rattly ones it came with to fit with a plate. It’s gasket mounted but I don’t feel like the gaskets do much. Either way, it’s a very good typing experience once you finally are able to figure out how the screws go back in. I did the tempest mod and used lubed Cherry MX Black Hyperglides, and the resulting sound is very marbly and smooth. The RGB is decent but not fantastic, and I wish there was a way to combine presets in the Glorious Core software. The only other problem is that the function key doesn’t work when I tested the PCB prior to building. ... MoreThe GMMK Pro is good but not great for a first keyboard. It was super easy to assemble and only took about an hour to put together. I used the Glorious software to customize the lighting on my board to match my keycap set, which turned out super well! I can't speak to the technical aspects of the board as well as someone more versed in mechanical keyboards can, but I can say that as someone who has only ever used a membrane board before, this keyboard makes such a difference that I'm actively more ... While it is indeed gasket mounted as promised, because the relief cuts for the gaskets on the bottom case are not milled out that deep, the gaskets end up getting squished pretty hard when you screw the top case on, therefore kind of defeating the purpose of a gasket mount. The aluminum plate fit fine with the PCB and the GOAT stabs as it was assembled from the factory. I bought the polycarbonate (PC) plate as well with my board as I prefer those over aluminum plates. However, the fit on the PC plate is very tight in more ways than one. Tight enough on the PCB as to cause it to bend when not installed and clamped down into the keyboard case. Also, there are SO many screws needed. If the plate fit properly, I don't think that it would bend the PCB at all nor need quite so many screws to hold it into place on the PCB. Additionally, the plates don't really seem to fit stabs other than Glorius' own GOAT stabs. I had some Durock v2's on hand, and no way those are fitting in the aluminum plate. I could force them into the PC plate, but it felt like it was going to snap, so I had to file out the plate to fit. I've seen people say the C3 equalz stabs worked fine, but I've also seen people say they don't fit either.Speaking of the stabilizers, after installing my switches and keycaps, any stabilized key would literally stick in the downward position after pressing it, then pop up later after a second when it broke loose. At first I thought it may have been because of over-lubing and I spent a lot of time disassembling, cleaning lube from inside the housings, re-lubing, then reassembling all to no avail. I found that the dampening pads they put under the stabs combined with the lube they used which got on the bottom of the housings as well, caused the stabilizers to stick in place. I noticed a number of other folks over on reddit mention this same issue of stabilized keys sticking. Once I removed those pads from the PCB, the stabilizers worked as they should. I think if Glorious offered the stabilizer dampeners as an optional add on in the box so users could add them at their own discretion, as well as not lubing the stabilizers from the factory, those issues could be avoided.The SW could also use a lot of work, but I could write a whole review just on that topic.Other than those issues, I do find the typing experience to be very pleasant with the PC plate and the build quality (issues aside) is very nice for the money. So while I did have some very specific issues, I still do enjoy the keyboard. I think the biggest strength is it can be had basically right now as it's now a regularly stocked item. No more waiting 6 months to a year for a Group Buy to get in on a very nice entry level custom. I do recommend it, but with the above caveats needing to be addressed in mind.

Most other keycaps sets I see are left-justified which I do not like at all. I only wish there were a standard "Enter" key option rather than only having this one that says "ASCEND". I might now have to go out and buy accent modifier keys just because of that.The coiled cable seems well made and I have had no issues with it so far, it looks really nice.
I love the keyboard. It was fun putting in all the raptor switches and nebulous keycaps, it works great for gaming. I had to get used to the key spacing and that's coming naturally already.It does have an issue though, I work from home and require the use of a KVM switch to move keyboard/mouse usage from the work pc to the personal PC. I Do this multiple times a day and this may have caused my issue. The keyboard input entirely stopped working and I got trapped in a game. I did contact support to get help factory resetting it and it fixed my issue. So if you use a KVM switch, be wary of using it with this keyboard.
