Amazing build, but not enough to justify the price.

At the time, I bought this because it was the only mechanical hot-swappable, wireless number pad I knew of. As a numpad though, I don't see why you would choose this over other options (unless you really want the aluminum frame). Even then, the fact that Glorious tries to upsell with different color frames and accessories should steer you away. I'm also really bitter about the fact that the numpad is said to be "white ice" but is just silver. In what world is "white ice" silver?TLDR: The hardware is great, but the software needs more work to justify the high price.

It's pretty good when it works. I have one major complaint and a few small ones and most of it comes down to the issues not being even remotely acceptable for how much this thing costs. So the common issues that happen almost every time I boot my computer:1. It loses connection with my pc. So it does nothing until I unplug and plug it back in.2. The lighting settings go away and the LEDs turn off. The only way to fix it is to open the software and reapply the settings. They need to offer a barebones version for less money that doesn't come with switches or keycaps. If I paid half the price for this thing the issues would seem smaller, but at this price it's ridiculous.

Highly Disappointing

If you're like me and bought the GMMK Pro, there might be times when you miss your numpad coming from a full-size keyboard. Well, luckily, Glorious has you covered with this product! I was delighted to discover that they'd come out with a numpad that would compliment the keyboard that I was otherwise very happy with. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be made for the GMMK Pro specifically as it leaves a lot to be desired and misses the mark with the small details. But first of all, the positives; Firstly, the build quality is very nice and it has some heft, so it's not going anywhere. Secondly, due to it being a separate device, you're able to use it on either side of your keyboard or anywhere on your desk, and you can put it away when you're not using it. Secondly, due to it being a separate device, you're able to use it on either side of your keyboard or anywhere on your desk, and you can put it away when you're not using it. Thirdly.. Actually, that's about it.Sadly, I have more gripes with this product. There's no barebones kit, meaning you're forced to pay for switches you may not like or use (not to say they're bad, but they almost certainly won't match what's in your main keyboard), as well as some really horrible keycaps that will go straight to landfill if you also bought a custom set for your barebones keyboard. Even on their website, you cannot deselect these options. For whatever reason, they decided to go with a PCB that has north-facing LEDs, as opposed to the south-facing one that comes stock in the GMMK Pro. This means that the LED lighting is not consistent across the two products and sticks out like the proverbial if you have clear or pudding-style keycaps. They also seem to be less bright in general, meaning you have to lower the lighting on your GMMK Pro to compensate. Thankfully, this can be solved by simply paying them for their additional south-facing PCB instead (which they do make specifically for this product, but don't offer as standard), so that you have one useless one banging around in a drawer somewhere.Having two knobs AND a slider (the latter of which can only be used to control audio) is quite redundant and honestly would've been more beneficial/convenient as additional macro keys. The only thing that comes to mind would be application-specific audio levels, which seems rather niche and not so useful.Bluetooth can be a blessing or a bane, depending on your luck. There are some other nit-picky things like the finish not matching the GMMK Pro, the corners are more rounded than the GMMK Pro, and the height/incline isn't the same either. While none of these things are necessarily deal breakers, and definitely don't affect the performance of the device, when you buy something premium, you expect the small details to be attended to.Which brings me to the biggest caveat of all, which is the price. If you absolutely must have this, wait to get it on sale. The $200 price tag is more than some entire keyboards, and with all of the drawbacks, it really isn't worth it. They really missed a trick with this product, and it absolutely should have been released in a barebones kit for those who already customised their keyboard and want something that matches. It would've brought the ludicrous price down and reduced the amount of waste. I'm afraid I can't recommend purchasing this item.

It Feels Great 👍

I know I could have went with a cheaper option. But since I love the GMMK PRO having a matching numpad with matching key caps/switches/rotary knobs feels like it belongs. It hooked to BT easily. Though I prefer to leave it plugged in. There are a few complaints, but mainly it's software related. And to be honest, I am fairly sure when I put the time into ti keeping with it it's probably something I'm doing. Like using the slide and rotary knob to turn down specific apps, or open a program. I don't have the calculator set on button depress. But that's what opens. And it turns down master system sound instead of a specific app. Again, I'm fairly certain this is a me problem, and not the product. Love the number pad. Using it with the GMMK Pro when I need it. Was always comfortable with a number pad and this one is definitely quality.Overall the build is pretty much identical to the GMMK Pro. The machining is great. I got the black color and there were no defects in the finish of the product. It's easy to take apart to work on but might take some finagling with either removing or re-lubing the stabs. I did run into one issue with the num pad though to where the enter, plus, and zero keys were sticking/slow to respond to push. There was a notice in the box that the grease can migrate which it did. It required a teardown to the stabs to remove and wipe down the excess amount that was put on there. Seems there was a bunch on the bottom which would act as a ... MoreLove the number pad. It required a teardown to the stabs to remove and wipe down the excess amount that was put on there. Seems there was a bunch on the bottom which would act as a suction or cause stickiness and slow response. After wiping away the excess they performed better. One of the things that I did not like about this is that the number pad did not have south facing LEDs. Not sure if this is the reason why the LED's do not seem as bright as the GMMK pro but it is noticeable. With their software there wasn't much choice to bind the slider to any functions or to have it register differently. It's usually either on to control window audio or disabled. I noticed though when other apps were open it did have a binding for that but I haven't really experimented to see if that worked. Was hoping that I could bind it to my microphone volume or be better integrated through Discord or the sorts.Overall this product is what I had expected to match closely to what the GMMK Pro is.

The Little Bit Extra when you need it
28 April 2024

I really like the look of Tenkeyless and 75% keyboards. Most of the time I don't need a numpad, and the whole setup just looks cleaner with a compact keyboard. But increasingly for work, I've found myself needing a numpad. Instead of moving to a completely new board, being able to add on the GMMK Numpad, either wirelessly or USB-C has been excellent. During the work day, it lives beside my GMMK Pro and earns its keep. And as soon as I'm done, it slips out of sight until needed again.I'm generally more of a Tactile Switch kind of person, but the Glorious Fox switches on the Numpad feel really fantastic. I thought I'd pick one of these up to sit next to my GMMK Pro 75 keyboard as they were on sale with free shipping, not even an hour after receiving it I have buyer's remorse. It doesn't look right next to the keyboard which is ironic given that it's "Intentionally engineered as a perfect companion to GMMK PRO".Length is 3cm shorter than the keyboard (due to the KB having the function row and Numpad not having media keys). The ONLY use for the slider is volume control. The volume sliders working range seems to be 80% of the sliding range, the first and last ~5mm do not change the sound from 0 or 100% respectively. You can't seem to sync lighting effects with the GMMK Pro making it look even more out of place. The included keycap puller scratches the inner walls of the aluminium body, this is minor as they're hidden with keycaps on anyway. The linear switches it comes with were good, but I swapped them out for some holy panda switches to match my keyboard. The packaging is good.Lighting effects are good if you ignore that they can't be sync'd with your other Glorious products. An already overpriced product even with sales and free shipping, and if you want a south facing LED PCB to match your keyboard then Glorious will sell that as a aftermarket accessory.I don't mind paying a premium price for (subjectively) premium products, but this is ridiculous. It will be the last time I purchase any Glorious product(except maybe the south facing PCB if lighting effects can be sync'd so it won't look silly next to the keyboard, then I might actually leave it on my desk). There is no way I would recommend this product to anyone.

The rotary knob can also only be configured to control audio volume. Why...The only way to know if numlock is on is by toggling a setting to flash the side lights on an off. Constant flashing or no indication at all, those are your choices. A simple color toggle on the numlock key would be perfect, but that isn't possible to do in the software.I haven't even attempted to configure macros because of how poorly the sliders work out of the box. Rather than being programmed at the firmware level they rely on the software to work, and the software is terrible. Why basic configuration software needs to always be open and consuming resources is beyond me when everything could be accomplished at the firmware level. The software seems to not see the pad unless I reconnect it after waking from sleep. The software tends to quietly crash, so if you need to quickly turn down the volume or execute a macro you simply can't rely on this pad to do it consistently. All in all I should have returned this when I had the chance. It is priced like an ultra premium product with less than half-baked execution. I feel like most of the issues could be fixed via firmware, but I'm not holding my breath for glorious to release an update considering the choices they made on the first go around.

[Rewarded Review] Nice build quality, sleeps even when plugged in.
2 February 2024

Great build quality for the most part. Hot-swappable switches. Slider and rotary encoder are nice.As others have mentioned, there's no way to prevent it from sleeping when hardwired. This is incredibly dumb. Additionally, the rotary encoder can only be a volume knob. If you're pairing this with, say, a GMMK Pro, you already have a volume knob that can't be reassigned to anything else. Very dumb.As an aside, the stabilizers on my keypad were all over-lubricated, which necessitated disassembly of the keypad in order to clean and relube.
