I used to LOVE glossier’s balm dot coms. I have 3 of the older ones : Mango, Mint, and Birthday. Birthday was my absolute favorite. The shimmer shade was perfect and the smell was this delicious, cozy vanilla. Everything about that lip balm was just so iconic. Since they reformulated this lip balm, I picked up the new birthday. I was so disappointed and upset. The lip balm was not moisturizing at all, it felt like Vaseline with shimmer. The scent wasn’t even the same. It had hints of a burnt vanilla cake. I've been on the Glossier train since 2017 and the balms have always been one of my faves and I was disappointed when they changed the formula. So, super happy they've listened to their customers and brought it back. The strawberry scent (it doesn't have a flavor, also please don't eat your lip balms) is more of a candy than actual fruit scent, which I enjoy but I know others might not. The color is a pinkish red (and as the description says) sheer. If you're looking for something with more color pay off, go for an actual lipstick/stain and don't expect this to be something it's not. It's a moisturizing balm with just a hint of color that's perfect if you want to add a little extra oomph. I'm looking forward to seeing if they change the other scents/colors back to the original formula as well.

I looooove the cookie butter it’s perfection and even though I still adore my laneige I’ve been reaching for these balm dotcoms a bit more lately maybe because of the feel and how soft my lips are and maybe partly because the cookie butter is so authentically yummy in its scent like it’s actual cookie butter that I’m just hooked.. I can’t recommend these enough. Everyone needs to pick these up before the holidays are over and the brand stops selling the OG formula once again.

A flavor nightmare
11 September 2024

This purchase made me sad... I was an OG Glossier Stan and had pretty much every one of the original balm dotcoms. I'm glad I missed the phase of the dreaded reformulation, but now that the original formula is allegedly back, I wanted one right away especially because of the applicator tip. (I feel too old to be applying lip balm with my finger throughout the day, and I live in NYC which would just feel icky in terms of hygiene.) I will say, the color and feel of this are nice for the short amount of time that I had it on... but the scent and flavor are unbelievably bad. I ignored the other reviews complaining about the strawberry because I'm not normally one to complain much about scents/flavors, but this is the cheapest, most artificial I've ever encountered. ... MoreThis purchase made me sad... Beyond that, the flavor was overwhelmingly plasticky and somehow immediately got into my mouth. Imagine you found an old Bonne Bell chapstick from the 1980s that had spent decades in the sun so the plastic leached into the balm... that's what this is. An immediate return, such a shame.

A versatile and staple product
6 July 2024

I have used the glossier balm dot coms for many years now and the old formulation is just so unique, hence why it is a staple. It is great not just for the lips but I love to use it on my cuticles when out and about (the original shade) as it is so hydrating. A little goes a long way and a tube lasts a very long time. The mint scented version is my favourite, it leaves a fresh feeling on the lips which is long lasting. The only negative I have encountered was with the shade birthday. Whilst I love the scent and the texture is consistent with the other shades I have used, the glitter particles are just not for me. They adhere to the lips and are difficult to remove even long past the actual balm disappearing. Overall this shade was just not flattering but I cannot ... MoreI have used the glossier balm dot coms for many years now and the old formulation is just so unique, hence why it is a staple. An absolute MUST HAVE!!!

If I could rate this product above five stars, I without a doubt would! Glossier is just an amazing brand, and there is absolutely nothing I wouldn't buy from them. The new Strawberry balm just smells exactly like strawberries, and it smells heavenly! Also, it has the most stunning tint, between bright red and pink! It isn't too much tint, and it's just beautiful! Perfect with or without makeup! Also, it is SO hydrating, and leaves my lips super soft, and not at all dry. Especially since they changed it back to the original formula, I love it so much more. I swear I never leave the house without this product. Also, there is just so much product in one container, and for only $14, it's SUCH a win! The container doesn't leak at all, and it's so cute. I've read so many comments lamenting Glossier changing their formula for these lip balms and how devastated people were. I truly thought it was so dramatic over lip balm of all things. Recently saw that Glossier decided to bring back their OG formula starting with strawberry and I just couldn't help myself, I wanted to see if all of the fuss was worth it. I love strawberries, but not a huge fan of strawberry candy so I was actually really worried I'd hate the smell. Unfortunately for me, I love it. Yes, it is definitely a strawberry candy scent, but I don't find it to be sickeningly sweet or overly artificial to the point of being gross or distracting. Yes, it is definitely a strawberry candy scent, but I don't find it to be sickeningly sweet or overly artificial to the point of being gross or distracting. I've definitely tried cheaper lip balms that had way more artificial scents. The formula is everything people said it would be, it coats and hydrates my lips so nicely. I don't think I've had dry or dehydrated lips since I started using this and I actually tossed out another lip balm that was doing nothing for me. The difference between the two were just so glaring, now I am exclusively using this. As for the formula not being vegan, with all of the fuss I expected this to be something dark and sinister. It's literally just beeswax and lanolin, animal byproducts. Lanolin is extracted from sheep wool after they are sheared, and the whole point of shearing is to prevent the wool from getting so heavy it weighs the sheep down. Also as a new mother, I was recommended to use lanolin cream and found it's incredible at healing dry and cracked skin anywhere on the body. So it is enough for me that Glossier obtains beeswax and lanolin in a cruelty free manner.Long story short, after using this for like 48 hours I went and purchased like 4 more of the OG balm dotcom original formulas and can't wait to use them all. Amazing lip product!

It separated when warm, not worth it

I’ve owned 3 different “flavors” of this product. I was gifted the birthday one, loved it but had to throw it away because I had developed a skin condition around my mouth that compromised all my lip products at that had been using. I loved my first product that I wanted to repurchase and got the rose one. The flavor was just ok but not soon after it horribly separated. So much so that I didn’t want to use the product anymore and I ended up throwing it away. Others mention removing the product from its tube and putting in another travel container and mixing it to fix the separation. This is a lot of effort on our parts to maintain a product I feel the company needs to figure out to prevent. It’s truly unfortunate but after this tube I’m forever passing on this.

I will tell you that I was ticked off at Glossier for discontinuing the dotbalm line without notice. I had ordered 11 tubes of the original formula at a great holiday discount, only to receive them mid-January and find out it was some moisture sapping vegan formula. Not cool. I was told that Glossier would never return to the original formula, so I started my search for a replacement...but never found one.I've had 2 tubes unopened since January 2022, when they started this nonsense. I spent a fortune trying to find a substitute, but nothing matched Glossier. Fire the idiot that made the decision to ditch the cult classic in the first place. For those of you buying who are familiar with the original product - I think this is the same, though what I'm comparing it to is old now. I tried the Hot Cocoa and Rose, and they don't have the same texture as my favorites - Mint, Original Untinted, and Birthday Cake. I'm not sure the formula is 100% back to its old self, but it is close enough that I snagged the 5 for $50 deal.Last warning Glossier - don't do this again. That whole change to vegan was really dumb.

I bought this on a whim in the presale and I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. I love everything about it the texture, scent and the glitter. The scent is not overpowering but you can still smell it. It smells like vanilla buttercream which is delicious and the scent fades the longer it is on your lips and doesn’t leave you overwhelmed and giving you the feeling to wash it off. The glitter is stunning, it is so fine and it doesn’t feel grainy on your lips. The texture is my favourite thing about this lip balm as it is thick but not sticky which I love.
