[Rewarded Review] As Good as I Hoped!

I shoot a lot of real estate and wanted to see if I could get a more even light spread. So, I took the plunge, bought the H200R (round head for the Godox AD200 Pro). And when I took a few test shots, I was extremely surprised to see that the result was similar (but actually superior) to shooting through a transparent umbrella or a softbox. I am VERY satisfied and highly recommend the combination of the AD200 Pro with the H200R head and this dome defuser if you shoot interior real estate, portraits, or headshots.

I wanted to like this thing, but in practice I find that it makes nearly zero difference compared to just using the bare head on either the Godox V1 or the AD100. The quality of light from those round heads is already so nice and smooth compared to any rectangular speed light I've used. The dome will throw a tiny bit of light to the sides, and you might be tempted to use that with the light pointed up for bounce flash. However, it doesn't improve the quality of the bounced light, and the little bit to the sides just ends up casting faint shadows behind your subject. Bottom line, if you want softer light, you need to increase the size of the light, and this modifier doesn't do that. I recently upgraded to a Godox flash (from a SB800) for a bunch of reasons, but the domed head is the perfect accessory for the external flash. The magnets make it super easy to mount and dismount. Would absolutely recommend!

[Rewarded Review] Good things come in small sizes

I love the fact that this modifier is small enough and can fit into my traveling camera bag, when I'm out with my family. It is small enough to stay in my main camera bag and yet the results are significant enough, and very comparable to my MagMod and Fong, for fraction of the cost. Not to take anything away from the other two products, which I use frequently during portrait sessions, but this diffuser, softens the light just right to add glamour to my images. I use it along with the Godox Bounce Card. I found that this combination yield optimal results when paired with Godox V1.

[Rewarded Review] Great Diffuser

Bought this to pair with my Godox V1 Flash. Love the magnetic feature and does a great job softening the harshness you can sometimes get with a flash. Package came early and got right to shooting photos.

[Rewarded Review] Great diffuser, easy with magnetism
14 January 2024

This dome diffuser is simple and easy to use. I love the magnetism of it. I just quickly attach it to my Godox V1 and can take it on and off in a heartbeat. Great accessory. The dome spreads the flash intensity out and is a great alternative to a box.

[Rewarded Review] Lighting Made Magical – The Godox Dome Diffuser Review

As a photographer who constantly strives for perfection in lighting, I recently stumbled upon a gem - the Godox Dome Diffuser. This little accessory has become an indispensable part of my photography bag, the McKinnon 35L Bag.

[Rewarded Review] Not a soft box
27 August 2024

There are lots of reviews that talk about how well this diffuser works with straight on flash. While I rarely use straight on flash, I find that this diffuser only produces a very small improvement. Where it does work well is when I am bouncing for fill with the flash pointed either straight up of slightly back. In that position the diffuser feathers a little fill light that does a nice job without looking like flash. Just another bargain from Godox, Profoto sells their dome diffuser for about 5 times as much, and you can't even see the Profoto logo on it.

[Rewarded Review] Simple, yet effective.
22 November 2021

So far so good! I added this to my wedding arsenal recently and I'm really pleased with it from my first experience. Coupled with the Godox 1V, the magnetic attachment is quick, easy, and secure-despite plenty of fumbling around while shooting with dual bodies, the dome never fell off. And the light looked great, I was fortunate to be shooting in a venue with a white ceiling and walls and the bounce light looked great. This review is based off my initial experience, but I'm confident my opinion won't change even with further use.

Very happy with this flash. New to flash (other than pop-ups), so take this with a grain of salt.Shooting with FujiX-H2, I got this very specifically for getting balanced photos of acoustic stringed instruments in strongly backlit situations, high end catalog auslity. I bought the V1 based on review images showing evenness of light distribution, great flexibility for bounce, and easy to manipulate controls (once I got the button functions understood). In my testing I have been able to dial in balanced lighting without the image screaming “flash”, which was my objective. Learning the techniques of using a good flash is critical. I have found the V1 to be a great tool on my learning curve. I’m getting the images I was aiming for, and the broad, even coverage of the V1 has worked out great.Picture is from one early test; Backlight 45° from left rear, Key light 45° left front (any more in front made glare on flat surfaces) and a bounce from ceiling with the V1, HSS, manual adjustments to get it just right.
