I primarily shoot real estate. And shooting interiors are very demanding in terms of getting the proper amount of light without causing shadows of any type. So, after using the Godox AD200 Pro with both the bare bulb and fresnel head I was unhappy with the harshness of the shadows which motivated me to buy this H200R round head. By itself it was a significant improvement. But, it became extremely improved when I added the $11 dome defuser. But, using the AD200 Pro with the H200R round head is just fine for most interior real estate shooting situations and I highly recommend it.

I was scared to purchase this item due to several reviews claiming that this flash head either wouldn't fit on the Godox ad200 pro or would require modification to fit. I have two Godox ad200 pro flashes and all the reviews on YouTube highly recommend using the H200R round flash head on them. I finally decided to take the plunge and I purchased two of them. Both went on smoothly (almost effortlessly) and worked as intended. I saw one review that claimed the LED focus light didn't work. I tested them and they both worked perfectly. I'm very happy with this purchase. The only negative is that in my opinion these round flash heads should come with the Godox ad200 pro. I bought this attachment for the ease of use of gels with the AD200. However, once placed in a softbox or halfdome, the light dispersion from the head is very concentrated towards the centre of the box, even when used with the dome accessory inside the softbox. I found the bare bulb head had the best illumination to completely cover the panel of the softbox, however, using gels with the elastic bands can be tedious and time consuming when changing setups on a shoot. So, if you need to use gels with the round flash head, just be aware that inside a softbox that you'll only be illuminating about 1/4 of the box face. Great addition to my kit and have absolutly no reservations about the purchase what so ever.

A word of caution for anyone that purchases this product. The end pin that comes from Godox is not aligned with the rest of the pins. After my first purchase of 2 round heads that would not fit onto either of my AD200Pro units I returned those and ordered a replacement set of 2. Of those 2 heads only one would fit and the other broke a pin while trying to install it. I returned it to B&H and ordered a 5th round head. I received the new H200R round head today and prior to attempting to install it I took a picture as attached below. I could not install it either. After careful examination I determined that I could straighten the end Pin enough to actually get it to fit on my AD200Pro units. So in the end my success rate at getting these round heads to fit is 20%.Now ... MoreA word of caution for anyone that purchases this product. Functions as expected based on all the reviews and research prior to the purchase.Solid build, lighting subjects really well, finding multiple uses from portrait photography, family photos, event photos.Experimenting for use it in macro photography, so far results positive.Should really be part of the Godox AD200 Pro kit.
The Godox H200R Round Flash Head was designed for the Godox AD200 flash unit. It supplements the fresnel and barebulbheads. It has two unique features: the round head that projects a really nice even pattern, with the same magneticfilter mount of the Godox V1 flash. It is possible to remove (four screws), the front diffusion panel, but this is not necessary. There is an internal spiral flashtube and a 3 level modeling light which is brighter than the fresnel head modeling light. To stand-mount the part, it requires the newer version the Godox S2 speedlite bracket. The original bracket will not work. I like this head because of the magnetic filter mount. I cut my own color gels and mount them in seconds. With the bracket, the unit fits inside strip and softboxes and gelling is so much easier than gelling the barebulbs. I no longer need to use the Magmod system on the fresnels either. The round head replaces both older heads. The round head works with the Godox SA-17 adapter, matched with the speedlite bracket, and the Godox Projection attachment, which creates a useful flash projector setup. The fresnel and barebulb will also work with the SA-17, but the round head give a better spread of light. Add a Godox S30 or S60 LED light and now you have both a flash and a LED projection setup. This setup is highly recommended. I give a grade A, using the U.S. school grade system for the round head.
I recently purchased two Godox AD200pro flash units, X Pro wireless transmitter and several modifiers. Everything works well and I am please with the equipment.I was disappointed when I received the HR200R Round Flash Head and it wouldn't mount on the flash. However, with simple adjustment of the contact pins, it now mounts flawlessly. The series of 4 pins move independently and can be centered with minimal effort. It now mounts flawlessly.
This is the head that should come with the AD200 instead of the regular, rectangular Fresnel head. With this round flash head, the light pattern matches that of the V1 on camera flash. If you are wondering why they even included a modeling light on the rectangular head and are displeased with the harsh color and minimal output, I do suggest you try the H200R. The modeling light is much more useable on the H200R, just be reasonable and don't expect it to put out like 150 watt bulb. Some of these are a bit snug connecting the first time or two, but with a little wiggle, they snap into place securely. To sum it up, unless you only use the bare bulb with your AD200, I strongly suggest purchasing the H200R. I use mine mounted on a bracket, connected to the head extension ... I recently acquired a Godox v1 and have been very impressed. This led to deciding to acquire an ad200 pro. I also acquired the H200R Round Flash based on my experience with the V1. I set up the ad200 with the Round Head in a 47 Octabox. I readily noticed that I had to use the same manual power level as I had with the V1. I was expecting to have to turn down the power. I decided to meter the Round Head and compare to the bare bulb and fresnel lens. Using the Octabox with diffuser (at 4ft, 1/1, iso 160) I metered f13 with the fresnel lens, f13 with the bare bulb and only f11 with the Round Head. I removed the Octabox (the same 4ft, 11, iso 160). I metered f32 with the fresnel lens, f27 with the bare bulb (with an ad-s2 reflector and no diffuser), and f19 with the ... MoreI recently acquired a Godox v1 and have been very impressed. The Round Head design has it's purpose when light fall off is important and all the ease of attaching gels, grids, etc. However, I might just as well use my V1. I am disappointed in the H200R's performance and will be selling.
Using it in conjunction with my V1s and whenever I have a need for the round head, this puppy does the job. The V1s sometimes don't have the output I need so I use this puppy and attach my magnetic adapters to perform. A great add-on to my arsenal. Thanks Godox for all the accessories you guys make, and for the quality.
