Very good and a clear menu and easy to browse and understand. Very good with the round flash head as it gives a smoother light, which is useful when you need to use the flash without a light modifier for filling flash outdoors. The magnetic accessory mount on the round reflector is excellent. Very fast charging time and good flash power. Many useful setting options. It is clearly an affordable speedlite. It is also flexible that it can be used with most of Godox's flash systems with radio triggers. Photographer Uffe

I initially purchased the Godox V860III because it was a little cheaper and I was not crazy about the round head as I thought it would be too big. I also wanted to be able to trigger my AD200 with the flash on the hot shoe. The V860III that I received was defective; I returned it for an exchange however, they were out of stock. B&H gave me a good discount on the V1 so I went with it for a replacement. After using it, I really like the V1. It is not that much bigger than a standard speedlight. With the exception of the wheel on the back, the build quality is very good, much better than I expected. My only (minor) complaint would be that the wheel on the back feels a little on the cheap side. It works fine but just does not have that quality feel to it like the rest ... MoreI initially purchased the Godox V860III because it was a little cheaper and I was not crazy about the round head as I thought it would be too big. I wish they had made it a little more substantial. Overall it is very good shoe mount camera flash that I can also triggering my AD200 with. It also triggers my other speedlights with the Godox X1R-C triggers. I purchased the magnetized accessory kit, which simply pop onto the flash, a nice feature. Overall, I am satisfied with the V1 and am glad I ended up with it instead of the V860II.

I absolutely ADORE this modifier/accessories kit! I bought the Godox V1 basically so I could use this system. Everything is compact, snaps instantly and securely into place, is compact and easy to use, and the quality is fantastic. It's a bit of a tight fit if you want to bring everything in the included case, but I rarely do (it's all about the bounce card and diffusion dome for me). It includes all of the options of the MagMod system, which I also like a lot, but the Godox kit is MUCH less bulky and awkward, and less expensive. The AK-R1 kit gives an already solid speedlight the flexibility of a strobe in studio, and revolutionizes the on-camera options with super-fast, secure modifiers. It's just AWESOME.

I have bought 2 of these now. Unfortunately, the first one broke (I must've hit it on something) and it has a lot of plastic components so it didn't hold up. I did choose to buy the same flash a second time because aside from the cheaper build I still love this flash. I'm a huge fan of the magnetized accessories. And I love the swivel head and how smooth it is without needing to press a button to swivel. I also love the power of this little flash! It works almost as good as some of the flashes on the market that are double its price!! The only thing I don't like (the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is that it doesn't project a laser to help the camera focus in low light. So for wedding receptions it was a little tricky to get used to. Overall, a great flash.
Nice update to my portable light kit, which I've been putting off due to the cost and lack of reliability of Canon gear. I have to use a variety of flash techniques for different situations, from on camera TTL to multiple light set ups in manual mode (using pocket wizards and 15-20 year old Nikon SB-24s). So far, this flash has handed everything well although it's a little big and top heavy for on camera. The battery life is amazing, multiple shoots without putting a dent in the battery charge. While I'm conscious not to blast away, I have yet to overheat the flash in my normal shooting. The build quality, controls and interface seem a tiny bit sketchy compared to Canon flashes, but they work fine so far. While I'm conscious not to blast away, I have yet to overheat the flash in my normal shooting. The build quality, controls and interface seem a tiny bit sketchy compared to Canon flashes, but they work fine so far. I've had problems with multiple Canon flashes while shooting in on-camera or off-camera ETTL (going off at full power in the middle of shooting and then losing TTL unless I go back into custom functions and reset CF #5) so I don't consider them that reliable. I know reliability is a concern with these low priced third party strobes, but if this holds up I will keep adding Godox flashes to my kit.
I really wanted this to me my go to flash. It works fine, the battery pack is great. I ordered the dome attachment, which I love. However, from the time I opened the box, it would not the quick release would not attach the camera securely. Mine fell off my camera twice, now I'm super careful. Actually, I can't be super careful, because it's so loose, it won't even fire, unless I push the flash down into the hot shoe. If It attached securely, I would love it. However, I can't even use it. If this situation gets fixed, I'll change my review. However, for now, I paid $259.00 for a useless chunk of plastic.
I've been watching tons of youtube videos on this flash and not one of them had any negative things to say. There were some that pointed some nonsense about no guide on flash output power, but to me that is just pointless. When you have all these professional photographers from all walks of life, and from just about every genre of photographers raving about this flash unit. I took a leap in faith and am so pleased that I did. I purchased the Godox V1-C with the modifier kit, all in all about $260+ give or take. A sound and solid investment! This thing is a work horse! It's like they smashed a trigger, modeling lamp and a very versitile flash into an affordable, compact and awesome design. You can use this in a softbox, it can control other flash units, and works ... MoreI've been watching tons of youtube videos on this flash and not one of them had any negative things to say. If you're on the fence, then allow me my friends to push you off of that fence... you WON'T regret it! lol Trust me... this is a sound purchase and will definitely help you step up your photography game. :)
I wanted to start building a wireless flash system, but only had Canon EX flash. Made sense to go with the Godox system after numerous glowing reviews and YouTube videos. So far, I have been very happy with the ease of use, compatibility and large feature set. I have always been an OEM guy, but for flashes, I think Godox is the one to beat. The lower price is icing on the cake.
This flash is phenomenal, fantastic. The included rechargeable battery is a game changer. I would buy four if I needed more flashes. Why didn't I mark this a 5 star review? I expected to be able to control my Canon 420EX speedlight from this much the same as if I had a second Godox. It cannot be done. Not even the B&H experts could make it work. Off camera, you need a Godox trigger or V1/860III on camera. So, I bought the $69 Godox trigger for that need, but had to trash my old 420EX. Too bad. It still works perfectly.
The Godox V1 does exactly what I need it to do. I primarily shoot with a Canon 1DX Markll. I just got back into shooting stillz after years of shooting small format video for action sports. In the short time that I've been able to use this strobe, I've not been disappointed. I've used it primarily for sports/action sports, lifestyle and other subject matter. I purchased this with the accessory kit, and the pairing is perfect for my needs. I also have a couple of the Godox 860ll's for Canon, set-up w/ Magmod accessories for modeling/portraiture shots. For the price and quality, it's really hard to beat. I've also used this flash for lighting up motor vehicles, and it lights up the subject matter really well and evenly. Also the convenience of not having to lug around ... MoreThe Godox V1 does exactly what I need it to do. I primarily shoot with a Canon 1DX Markll.
