The functionally on this lens is the best godox speedlight yet! UnfortunatelyThe neck doesn’t seem able to handle the magmod system’s tools as it snapped the speedlight right apart the very first use. Thank goodness for awesome strobepro service backing their products so I’ll try it again once it’s fixed without magmod in the future. TTL was spot on, and the modelling light on this is at the front of the flash which was great to give just a hint of fill in a dark theatre during an awards ceremony without destroying the ambience.

The flash is incredibly easy to learn to use and has good functionality/results, BUT it's poorly constructed ... the hot shoe has broken twice on my flash unit in 2 months of using it. I just ordered my second hot shoe replacement kit from B&H for it. Plus, it sounds like bits of broken plastic or perhaps a screw or two are jingling around inside the flash unit. the flash unit never seems to be securely fastened to the hot shoe, and you constantly have to keep an yee on it when not using it.

At first I really liked this flash and it's functionality. After a few uses with my Canon 70d the clear plastic on the flash head started to overheat and melt. It got so hot it left a burn mark on the plastic wide angle diffuser as well. B&H was very accommodating with my return and gave me a new flash. Unfortunately a few months and a few uses later the same thing happened again. Once again B&H was very accommodating and gave me another new flash. I'm hoping the 3rd time is a charm but I don't think this flash has any sensor to let itself know when it's overheating. Wish me luck.

A no brainer. I went into my local camera store in Victoria looking for the new Canon EL-1 flash, which was about $1,500. I was disappointed it was back ordered 3-6 months. The reason I want the EL-1 was it had 1 lithium battery instead of the 6-8 AA's I had to used for my Canon Speedlite 600 EX II-RT. My salesperson (who uses these for weddings) recommended me to StrobePro in Alberta. I ordered this model plus the flash trigger on a Friday afternoon and received it the following Tuesday. Wow, what great service.
This is the 8th Godox flash that I have owned and I love the ease of controlling them for OCF. The only reason that I bought this one is to have a model that is compatible with my Nikon Z camera bodies for on-camera flash. All the others which are now several years old work perfectly and can all be controlled by mounting this one on my Z6II or Z7II. The Li-Ion batteries hold a charge for what seems like forever when not in use. Highly recommend! Far easier to use than anything that Nikon makes for about 1/3 the price.
This flash uses a rechargeable lithium battery so you don't need to mess with AAs. I really like being able to control other Godox lights like a transmitter and it responds well to using it off camera. I had a couple of hick-ups early on using it in conjunction with other lights but that may have been user error. The location of the modeling light was actually beneficial to how I was using it and helped my camera get a good focus lock on subjects in a dark area while the flash head wasn't pointed directly at them. I need to put it through its paces more and do some direct comparisons to my Nikon speedlights, but so far I like it.

(Love the recycle time, great battery life, quick switch from TTL to manual and how it can work with the other flashes in the godox line via their triggers etc,) but if you use this with the Canon R5 / R6, the HSS does NOT work in TTL mode. It will only fire at 100% output @ 1/250 or faster.(Yes, you can adjust the flash compensation to -3 and correct the exposure when at 1/250 sec but you are limited only to 1/250 sec. since the flash exposure compensation is limited to -3 when in TTL.)Many vendors list it as fully compatible and would not give me a straight answer so I contacted Godox directly to see if they were working on a fix for this and they said that they are aware but are working on it. I've used the Godox AD 600 PRO for two years and I was looking for a way to make it easier on events as I need to pair more lights on it for photo sessions, and real estate, so I switched the trigger X-Pro for the 860III making it dinamic on events, and for my surprise the behave of the flash and how it interferes on my R6... I like this flash better than the V1. The 860V3 recycles a bit faster, the rectangle head is better for bounce flash and the TTL feature works amazing unlike the V1. My first 860V3 I had over 9 months then the hot shoe started to get loose. I returned it to B&H for a full refund then bought a 2nd one. The main drawback on all these godox and I'm sure other flashes they aren't designed to shoot 1/1 full power for long. Eventually they will start to overheat and the recycle time will decrease. So you have to be smart on how you use them. Having said that I also use AD100 & AD200 for off camera flash with the 860.
Was beyond excited for the upgraded flash and new quick release. Even more frustrated with its performance. It's slightly loose connection to my Canon R6 caused it to be unreliable at an event this past weekend. It inconsistently stopped firing both the onboard and OCF. The only fix was to turn off, take it off my camera, put it back on and sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. So I switched back to my V860II with not a single concern or issue. Both of my R6's are new so I know it's not a busted hot shoe on the camera.Additionally the nav and button controls are completely different. Some pros and cons to it. Hidden on camera flash on and off button (last menu item now - no longer a button) and the dial rotates infinitely faster with some muscle memory changes ... MoreWas beyond excited for the upgraded flash and new quick release.
