Golden Heavy Body Acrylic 237ml Carbon Black

I have discovered, over the years, that it pays to use the best quality equipment, it really does make a difference to the results. I used to paint with oils but the advantages of acrylic cannot be denied. I like strong, thick colour and Golden paints are spot-on for this, with their high pigment ratio and thick consistency. I paint as I did with oils in this respect but love the fact that I can overlay thick and fast but also apply transparent glazes in between or as a final ‘pulling together’ layer. It would have been useful to have been able to add to/change the order immediately, as some companies allow, then I could have added the forgotten tube straight away. As it was, though I rang immediately, it could not be added and I had to order it separately. The two packages arrived together and I could have saved the postage on the single tube if I had been able to just add it on to the original order.

As an artist, you want to know that you are using the best quality paints available. You want them to be smooth, with excellent consistency, with high pigment loads, permanency, and lightfastness - Golden delivers with these paints! There are no fillers or extenders in these paints, but Golden has an excellent line of mediums for that. These are so easy to blend and work with under the right conditions, which are key because acrylics dry very fast. The color choices are endless with this line; however, an experienced artist can always mix their own colors with ease. If you’re wanting the best and an archival piece of art, you can’t go wrong with the Golden line!

A Class of its Own

I have tried almost every brand of acrylic paint on the market. I have never found ANYTHING that even comes close to Golden Brand acrylics. The brilliance and intensity of the colors are simply breathtaking. They are creamy, easy to apply with both brushes or knives, and blend beautifully. I did a mixed media painting to celebrate winning my battle with cancer. I included many words, sayings, images, and a poem that I had written, hiding them beneath the surface of the paint, as many of them represented very personal fears and other feelings. Golden was quite honestly the only brand of acrylics that allowed me to do this. Yes, they are pricey but my experience has taught me that they are worth every penny. This coming June I will celebrate my 76th birthday. I thank God every day for my life, my family, my friends, and the gift of creativity. I hope to be able to paint for a long time to come. And I hope to be able to do so with Golden brand acrylic paints. My goal is to live long enough to own every single color of Golden acrylics!

The Titanium White blends easily with water, glazing mediums and textile mediums for a wide range of applications on multiple surfaces. If you've ever had a tube to split open, you know what I mean.I learned many years ago to keep the inside of the caps clean, and to wipe off any excess paint on the threads to keep a good seal, and keep the paint from drying out.To that end - quite a few years ago, with each paint order (Golden, of course) I started putting the date and the price on each of the paint tubes with a fine point marker. It has helped me to track my usage of colors and the prices. I have at least a handful of tubes of other Golden acrylic paints dated from early 2015 that are still fresh and useable.

I’ve been using them for years and have found the Quality and Richness of the Heavy Body Acrylics to be Outstanding ! All Golden Paints are Topof the Line and I Especially Love to add Special Touches with the Iridescent, Interference, and the Quinacridone Colors !Oh, and the Green Gold Color will turn your rolling hills and landscapes into a Magical Wonderland !! Good product, but GREAT customer service.

Aside from this being a great quality paint, I need to sing praises to Blick customer service. This product was shipped in the same box as a gallon of gesso and in the handling of the box during shipping, the gallon shifted and kind of mangled the tube. I texted Blick customer service regarding the damaged tube and they immediately shipped me a replacement without any questioning. I offered to send a photo of the damaged tube, but they courteously said that wasn't necessary, they trust their customers. I'll continue to used Blick for my art supplies going forward.

As close to oil painting texture and look as you can get in an acrylic. With that said the pros and cons. Pros; email golden and get a hand painted swatch card so you don't waste money, the colors are wonderful, the quality is outstanding.Cons; their caps are evil! They stick so bad and even break sometimes so you need to be careful when opening them up and always always wipe the top of the tube on some paper towel before putting the cap back on. I bought a pair of needle nose pliers with a round grip in them just to open these tubes. Liquitex does not have that problem. Their paints also don't look like oils when dry either. The only other con is that they dry stupid fast! So order yourself one of those Chroma Atilier fine misters and get the acrylic mediums that they make to help keep them open. A small drop the size of a chocolate chip is usually enough to keep them workable for a while. Once I found a method to keep them moist long enough I loved them. #sweepstakes

I bought this paint as a replacement for the tube that I used to the last drop. I use this hue in many of my mixed media paintings at full strength, as a glaze sometimes, or even as a wash. I like to experiment with pigment interactions made directly on the canvas and this is an interesting convenience mixture that does wonderful things when put to work. I know that this current formula is a replacement to the original one, actually it has changed several times due to safety reasons and pigment availability, but personally I love and always appreciated the quality of Golden paints.#sweepstakes
