Our TV is now more than 10 years old but still working perfectly, the only problem being that some streaming services are no longer compatible with it. I thought we were going to have to buy another TV, which seems incredibly wasteful, but fortunately my son told me about Google Chromecast.It was easy to set up and now we can catch up with all the programmes we love by casting them to the TV from my phone. A great piece of tech!

Pros: Good for many apps.Cons: Put on box certain main channels that especially elderly only use do need handset to cast as many wouldnt know as wouldnt people who are not tech minded. Being adapted to have such on would be a big advantage as is time consuming and may not be available to all who would like to purchase.

Great upgrade from the initial Chromecast, the ability to be able to control things through a remote makes it a lot easier. Great little product and super easy to setup. Love the remote, has the ability to control the main functions of the TV, on/off, volume and source channel. Pretty much the main things you use.

I was setting the Chromecast up on my Windows laptop so I had to use an Android Emulator as it is an Android device. I used the much recommended BlueStacks Emulator. The Cromecast set up was quick and easy until I had to download and install Google Home via Bluestacks. Although Google Home was downloaded I have been unable to complete its installation due to its failure to connect to my Wi-Fi or my Bluetooth. I've tried a complete reinstall and numerous attempts to solve the Wi-Fi issue. However, Google Home has installed successfully on my IPhone. Having setting aside this frustration, the Chromecast works perfectly as it should and the little remote control ha all the basic controls including Voice. It works great! It's almost better than my Roku. Almost. I really enjoy it. It works well, and is a great alternative to stream shows, and movies
The Chromecast is nicely built and the simple remote control becomes all you need. It can turn your TV on and off and also has a volume switch on the side.The interface on the TV is straightforward and gives you access to a load of streaming services.Not only does it do what it should but it does it well.

New TVs come with 4K and streaming apps, so the Chromecast is really only good for providing the apps that are missing. I set up the TV points with CAT6 Ethernet connections, but the Chromecast is Wi-Fi only! One of the TVs was so far from the Wi-Fi router, it needed a cable connection to stream. Chromecast is intermittent at that location. I suppose I could put an W-Fi access point on the Ethernet cable, but it's an extra device that you have to switch on/off. So, I need two 13Amp sockets, one for the Chromecast, and one for the Wi-Fi access point. One good bit is BBC Sounds, which is something I want.
It was working really good 1 month but now the remote all the time is disconnecting its really annoying, sometimes only 1 or 2 buttons on remote working. Then everything is okay its working fast. And not so many apps it's missing Facebook or Instagram etc. One big minus remote doesn't work well. Easy to connect.
