It's been 2 years, and Google has flat-out refused to fix the issue that you cannot use them in stereo pair with a TV or non-Google device like a TV without a 1 second delay. There is a very angry thread about this (which they have now locked) after customers felt taken advantage of by the product. My only conclusion is that this is entirely by design. Google half-heartedly added a delay function to Google home, but it is a mere 200ms delay when you need over 1 second, rendering it useless. So do not buy these for use as a stereo pair with a computer or home theater, because Google won't fix this delay issue. I went full Amazon Echo for a home theater recently. The software is just too buggy to put up with, so I returned it. I decided to try Google instead. I got a set of 2 and paired them up as a stereo. By the way, getting a second Nest speaker and pairing them is definitely worth it. The sound quality is amazing. I went into the equalizer in the app and turned the bass up all the way. It sounds like a pair of mid/high end bookshelf speakers.I also like Google because their software works much better than Amazon. That's especially true with Bluetooth. Once you set it up, it perfectly synced and it connects to literally anything...a feature Amazon doesn't have with Echo. I tried connecting my speaker pair to my TV Bluetooth. Connect them to a TV bluetooth, and you have a smart soundbar that you can disconnect/reconnect with a simple voice command.

This is certainly a really great product, it provides quite a good balance of base and sound quality. For a small room to medium sized rooms you definitely can feel that base even with just having one speaker. I can only imagine what it might feel like if I had two of them paired up in a group. As far as talking to it, at first I did notice it was sometimes not responsive as quickly, but I retrained my voice and I turned up to sensitivity a little bit since the base and my distance was quite far away from the speaker. It has definitely improved and I think just the simple retraining of my voice has helped it. The quality does fill my whole bedroom up where I have the speaker, and even compared to the mini and the hub this is by far the loudest with bass and full ... The quality does fill my whole bedroom up where I have the speaker, and even compared to the mini and the hub this is by far the loudest with bass and full sound. It might not be the home Max speaker, but two of these I think do equate to a homemax speaker so for the price it's pretty good. Keep looking out for sales that do occur where you could get the unit for $20 off. Overall it is definitely worth the time and efforts to buy great for music podcasts and much more. The unit does have a little bit of weight so that does feel good and sturdy on a bookshelf or table. The colors are kind of strange in the way that you might think sand is sand, but it is more of a pinkish hue of sand, and the sage is I guess you could call it a greenish color whereas the blue which is a thing called sky blue or something and the other two white and black are as they would be. The main controls are basically on the top half so if you tap on the top middle you either play pause the track and then the left and right shoulders of the speakers will pretty much feel like the area you would touch for volume up or down towards the front and then you have the lights that signify the volume rate at which it set on. It is definitely easy to set up through the Google home app and you can customize the settings under the device settings once you have added it to a room or such. Left parentheses if you want to add it with another speaker remember to add it to the group right parentheses that will basically let you pair the two together and act like one big speaker.
I'm a big Google fan and have a full Google Home with smart displays, speakers, hubs, chromecasts, lights etc.I've never had any issues with chromecasts or displays, however, all the speakers, including the Google Home Minis (both 1st and 2nd gen) and Google Nest Audios have been glitchy and have all failed entirely over time.Streaming music to cast to them ends up being unreliable and buggy. The quality will constantly dip and sound muffled or choppy, before permanently settling and remaining poor in this way. Eventually, while actively using it, the connection drops so you can't control it anymore from your phone even if the music is still playing. Setting up speaker groups to listen to multiple speakers playing the same thing simultaneously barely ever works ... Eventually, while actively using it, the connection drops so you can't control it anymore from your phone even if the music is still playing. Setting up speaker groups to listen to multiple speakers playing the same thing simultaneously barely ever works and speakers will sometimes be delayed between themselves or drop out of the group entirely, while also having varying levels of volume across them. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Google Home comes laden with its own bugs and issues (try setting up multiple homes and devices while using the same streaming account and enjoy gettingOverall, on the surface a fun product and excellent concept, the quality issues make it a permanent headache to constantly address and fix, and even Google Support doesn't know how to fix these issues. And if you're past the 1 year warranty, you're out of luck, you're stuck with a crappy speaker with unreliable 'smart' functions.
Ordered this speaker to pair with my smart home's Nest ecosystem. Boy was that a mistake! Over time it has become increasingly "dumb". The assistant is so bad at executing commands that we only use this as a bluetooth speaker.Simple commands like "what time does ... close?" is always met with a "A glitch occured, please try again" or "Something went wrong, please try again" response. It happens 70% of the time and and this point we just don't bother using it. We've unplugged the device, cleaned it, reset the assistant voice features. No fix.Another issue I have is with casting spotify music to this speaker. I can't tell you how many times it fails to connect or some strange glitch occurs where Spotify becomes desynced with the device. It's just always a headache ... From their Pixels, to their smart hub, to the smart speakers, it all seems to fail or get worse over time. So disappointed.
The display model sold me on this. It is a replacement for my basic, first gen Google Home in the bedroom. I bought two to enable the stereo function and it works amazingly. Great audio quality. Excellent response and using two in stereo configuration (I have one on each nightstand; bedside) give you great channel separation which really wakes up music and even ambient audio sleep tracks.Setting up was easy as well, especially if you have your Home app labeled properly. We have 7 best speakers and two Nest screens. The down sides: Volume. They play clear and play clean but they do not play that loud. They max out pretty low which is odd. They almost seem like there is some sort of volume limiter on or something. The speakers are relatively heavy and robust, indicative of a big driver/amp but small speakers have put out more sound. Also, the bass response, while accurate is does not hit that hard especially given the size of the driver. It would be nice to be able to use these as TV audio speakers when using the Google TV cast strip. (Hint, hint, Google. If you're monitoring this...)Overall, these are great additions to the room, especially for the money.
The good: Music that follows you around the house, voice calling without your phone and wire-free intercom! The bad: Fiddly user interface and erratic setup. For those who have been all-in on Google's Nest ecosystem from day one, these speakers are a no-brainer. Google has recently updated its Home app to include household routines and activities on top of standard device controls. That means you can set your bedroom Nest Audio to gently wake you with your favorite streaming tunes, and your kitchen Nest Audio speakers to tell you the weather and when your first meeting of the day starts. Pair two Nest Audio devices in a room and you get stereo sound without the wires. My favorite feature is the intercom: Just say "Hey Google, announce!" and it will broadcast whatever you say next to all Nest Audios, or even to select rooms. All that said, setting up these devices is not for the faint of heart. Adding new devices can be tricky, and often can take two or three attempts to get each speaker authenticated. Devices will sometimes randomly fall off your home wi-fi network, requiring a 'factory reset' and going through the motions of re-authenticating.For those willing to put up with a little extra digital elbow grease, the ability to have music playing around the house far outweighs the disadvantages. There are other multi-room options out there, but the Nest Audio series is an excellent overall value.
At first I was happy with the product. 80.- for acceptable music quality, great design and google assistant aren't really a lot. After a couple of weeks my opinion changed. In the morning, at 9 a.m. to be precise, the Google nest started to play an Ad of a mobile network company. I first thought that my roommates accidentally connected to the device, but then I discovered it's a 'bug' that sometimes happens with these speakers (Google aren't you fooling us? A bug? Really?).I was already really disappointed and wanted to throw it out of the window. I reset it and for now it seems ok.But then I thought: you know what? I don't really need to use Google assistant the whole time, so I turned the microphone off and then 4 orange dots appeared. At first I thought that they would disappear after some minutes, but actually no. As long as the mic is off, 4 permanent orange dots are gonna be displayed on the device. Just Google letting you know that they don't approve you trying to have some privacy. There is no option of turning them off.Google it's just a company that wants to make money. They put orange lights on the device just to 'force' you a little bit into not turning the microphone off. By doing that they just get more data from you talking in your own house. Interestingly the speakers play randomly some ads and this fact is described as a 'bug'.My only thought at this point is just the hope of living long enough to see capitalism (and Google) die.If you still haven't bought it, try to find something more fair.
