Do you really need a display for that?So you can stream Netflix and YouTube to it...whoopee! It's a 7 inch display so you might as well just watch it on your phone and just like most other things with this device, you better be pretty specific in telling it what to stream because you can't input text to search. What is this thing good for? I'm still trying to figure that out after a month of use. It's no more handy than a nest mini even though you'd think it should be with a display. I suppose if you want to be tacky and display your personal photos, you can do that but this thing is so underutilized and restrictive that it actually angers me that I was dumb enough to buy it.In conclusion, you might as well stick your cash in the oven and bake it on 450 for 2 hours because it would be less of a waste than spending it on this junk.

Practical product, well designed and made, really nice to use

The screen is very good - sufficiently high resolution, sensible size, and the brightness control is always just right. Sound is loud and very clear but don't expect a hi-fi speaker because it has little bass. Although based on the same software and AI, the Nest Hub really capitalises on its screen, giving it many advantages over Google's Smart Speakers. I use the timers a lot, and often several at once when cooking. Being able to see their progress all at once is great, and they have fun themed sounds and animations if you name the timers. It's also great to see at a glance that what you said was understood, because your voice recognition results appear at the top of the screen as you speak. When it's not busy it can show photos from albums and I completely underestimated how nice this is. The whole family enjoys seeing forgotten photos pop-up unexpectedly, which would normally otherwise only see the light of day when searching for something else. Search results appear with more context, and they're surprisingly intelligently displayed - gently scrolling over the part of the web page with the relevant answer. There's no camera so you can't send video calls but the speakerphone audio quality is excellent. If your kitchen counter has too much stuff standing close around the Hub I noticed the precision of the voice control is reduced, but it's excellent otherwise, and works amazingly well with a lot of background noise. It has real volume buttons on the back that you can use by feel, but you can also use gestures on the screen to show a touch volume slider. The only downside I can think of is it's not going to fill a large living space with dance music, but for an average room it's more than enough. It seems very well built, but if it went wrong I would have to get a replacement right away as I would really miss it.

I'm really happy with this product. I bought this because of all the add on options with the google home and also because my family all has google phones. The sound quality and picture quality is great. I've used it often for cooking and it will walk you through the steps as you go. I also use it to listen music and ask various questions. The set up took a little bit longer than i anticipated and wasnt 100% smooth but also wasn't super complicated.

[Rewarded Review] Great Tech to Complete Your Smart Home
21 May 2021

The Google Nest Hub 2 is a great command center for all your smart home devices. The set up is very easy, but you will need to download the Google Home app onto your smartphone if you don't already have it. The app walks you through the set up instructions, which don't take long at all. After completing set up, you're able to use your nest hub to control any other smart device you might have in your home, like lights, locks, and thermostat. You can use the touch screen to control and monitor or use voice commands by saying "Hey Google..." and continuing with your command. You can ask it the weather, news, sports, and many other things. You can also use a number of different apps with this like Youtube, Netflix, Spotify, Pandora, etc. The speaker is decent.I have ... MoreThe Google Nest Hub 2 is a great command center for all your smart home devices. Just load up pictures to the google account and it can slide show them.I have not used the sleep tracking features, since it's not in the bedroom, but have heard good things. It doesn't have a camera, rather sensors, so I would feel better about using it knowing it's not video recording me the entire night. Would be a little weird.I was disappointed it doesn't play nice with my Ring doorbell (very complicated to sync up and even if you do, the video feature does not work), but that's just because they are competing brands - Google vs Amazon - so I'm not deducting any points for that. You'd need a Google Nest Hello.Overall, it's a great device to control your smart home appliances and has additional features that make it useful. For what it is and the price point, it's a great addition to the house.

[Rewarded Review] Great concept but execution falls a bit short
9 May 2021

The 2nd Generation Nest Hub from Google is a okay smart home device. It uses a voice assistant named Google Assistant to perform a variety of tasks such as turning lights on and off, playing videos and music, viewing photos, recipes, news weather, etc, as well as making calls. However, interacting with the 7 inch screen is a pain. It's not as zippy as a smartphone or tablet screen. There was noticeable lag time when moving between home screens or touching a button. Also, the screen resolution is 1024x600 pixels, so it's not as sharp compared to smartphone and tablet screens, and photos look just fine on the screen, nothing remarkable. The device itself has a small footprint, but the bezels around the screen are quite wide. Also, it's quite easy to accidentally to unplug the device as the plug holds loose in the outlet, and I had to put some weight to keep it in place. All in all, while the concept of a device that can control your home is fantastic, the execution falls a bit short. The Nest Hub has a great potential for being a fantastic smart home device. It's fine for users who are new to the smart home arena, but power users might need to look elsewhere unless there is a future firmware update from Google.

[Rewarded Review] Great design/no hassle or advertisements

Replacement for a house full of Amazon Echo Show 5. I was sick of the constant advertisements on the Echo. I looked up every way to shut them off, but Amazon decided to override all of those settings. (*Google has none of this.) When I'm busy with work or chores around the house, when I look up, I expect to see the clock, temp, and date, not some advertisement 99% of which isn't near anything I'd ever buy. I've been on Amazon since 1996, so it's not like they couldn't advertise relevant products. Either way, I didn't buy them for Amazon billboards around my house. The worst was when my morning alarm would go off and it would interrupt my weather update that comes after I tell it to turn the alarm off to display another ad.Every feature I was using on Echo is ... MoreReplacement for a house full of Amazon Echo Show 5. This is my first time having any sort of smart home device. So, I dont have any other brands or earlier versions to compare to. That being said, I do like this nest device. Aesthetically its nice, the charcoal color is appealing and the screen is a nice size. The graphics seem pretty good - I like to leave it on the picture slide show and use the images option on there so I can see pretty landscapes and animals and such. It seems pretty easy if I wanted to set it to use my own pictures though. The sound quality is decent - its certainly not the best audio out there (nor would I have expected it to be), but it works well and I have used it to play music and its been enjoyable listening to it. So far I've mainly linked it with my Spotify for music, but I have had some difficulty in getting it to play the Siriusxm music. I linked my account using the Google home app (required to set the nest up), but haven't had success getting it to play. I set up users for myself and another household member and we were both able to set it up easily and get it to play our own Spotify accounts. I have it synced to show my calendar, but haven't set it to do calls yet. Again these seem to be easy features. I haven't tried to watch anything on it yet, but I'd imagine it would be nice. I've used the Google assistant with ease "ok google" recognizes my voice no problem and I do like the ability to say it from across the room. I don't have smart home compatible stuff like a smart thermostat or lights or anything as I'm living in an older house at the moment, but again, it seems like an easy set up process and is supposed to be compatible with a ton of smart home brands/items. I think this is a handy device and is easy to get set up if you've got a Google account.

Being a huge fan of Google, I couldn't wait to set my very 1st Google nest hub 2nd generation! It was super easy to set up and connect via my android phone. Being a new mom for the 3rd time, I really wanted to improve my sleeping habits and place myself in better health especially with my baby turning 1 year old. The setup is a breeze. It learns where in bed you would be located so that it only detects you, as well as voice recognition which is a nice feature. I love how I can speak to it from a distance to play music or turn off screen for the night. You can create routines for morning and night or throughout the day. Maybe in the morning you like to get your news, weather, or have reminders for that day. My family and I love the extra features especially the games. My personal favorite is who wants to be a millionaire game. I just wish you could play it more than once a day and not have to pay additional amount for more rounds that day. Another thing I love about this Google nest is that it records breathing, snoring, and coughing throughout the night via microphone. I was able to set up my ideal wake up time and bedtime. In the morning, I am able too see the quality of sleep I received the night before which was pretty accurate. When I'm not using the display it shows the time or your Google photos/images. You may turn off the microphone in the back at any point and time. From one side, I like that a camera is not included and you don't feel like your being watched. On the other hand, it would be nice to have the camera so that I can video call my elderly mom and show her grandkids states away. Overall, the screen, picture and audio quality is incredible. Audio blew me away for such a small screen; I couldn't believe what amazing speaker this had. It's perfect to dance away with my munchkin to the beat of the music or rock him to sleep to a peaceful melody. One more con on this Google nest hub, when the baby does fall asleep at night or nap time. The commercials so often wake him up and disrupt his and my sleep. I wish there was a way to control that or minimize but this is mainly due to the different apps. The design is sleek, modern, and fabric casing is made from recycled bottles! There's still room for improvement but a great quality product I would recommend to my friends!

When I saw this nest hub I thought it was super cool and with quite a few smart products and google devices I thought it would be helpful to connecting all my device on one thing using an assistant while have a screen to not only see the commands I ask but to also see videos, what song is playing, the time and weather. For starters you do need to download the google home app to set up the hub, it also allows you to add your smart devices and contacts to the hub to use so make sure you have space on your phone for the app. Honestly this has work better than I anticipated, I honestly never really used the assistant on my phone but found using the google assistant to ask the weather to play things on my tv or on the display screen, find me specific songs to play has ... MoreWhen I saw this nest hub I thought it was super cool and with quite a few smart products and google devices I thought it would be helpful to connecting all my device on one thing using an assistant while have a screen to not only see the commands I ask but to also see videos, what song is playing, the time and weather. For starters you do need to download the google home app to set up the hub, it also allows you to add your smart devices and contacts to the hub to use so make sure you have space on your phone for the app. Honestly this has work better than I anticipated, I honestly never really used the assistant on my phone but found using the google assistant to ask the weather to play things on my tv or on the display screen, find me specific songs to play has been really helpful. I found if you want a certain song it’s best to say specifically which service you want it play on for best results. The touch screen also is very user friendly it because everything is separate between home controls, media, communication, family, etc. so you can find what you need quick and easy if you don’t feel like using the assistant. You can also link various entertainment accounts (not just video but music as well) to make it easy to stream your content using your google assistant. I also am able to check my security camera and turn on my lights using the google assistant meaning I don’t have to pick up my phone to do it because a lot of phones you have to unlock the phone before it will do certain commands. You can also ask google for jokes, to find you recipes, start grocery lists, and set up calendars for you and it also had activities like riddles and madlibs if your bored, which my son has loved. I was also surprised that you can make phone calls, just make sure you use to google home app to add the contacts you want to use, and the calls do come in very clear but will show up on the person your calling as an unknown number. I also love you can personalize the screen saver with your own picture to make it like a picture frame when not in use and if you use the hub in your bedroom like I do you don’t have to worry about the lights of the screen keeping you up because the screen has a ambience light system where if it matching the lighting in your room and when all lights are off it just show a the time on a dim light so it would keep you awake but you can still read the time. I did have an issue where the hub went down and I had to do three system resets to get it back up after my first day using it but have since not have had that issue and it’s been running smoothly. Overall it’s a pretty cool device and I would highly recommend.

[Rewarded Review] So Many Cool Features!
14 May 2021

Having a Nest Hub adds convenience to my life at home and as an added bonus, it works well as a digital photo frame. I could go on and on about the many things it’s capable of, but I’ll just highlight some of my favorites. The Nest Hub connects to and lets me control all my smart home devices. Adjusting the thermostat, turning the lights on/off, or even starting my robot vacuum can all be done by simply asking Google. If family members are in a different room that has a Nest speaker, I use the broadcast feature so that I don’t have to yell in order to share a message with them. It’s also my source for weather, news, or quick answers. New to the second-generation Nest Hub is Quick Gestures, which allow you to pause/play music or video with a tap of the air in front ... MoreHaving a Nest Hub adds convenience to my life at home and as an added bonus, it works well as a digital photo frame. New to the second-generation Nest Hub is Quick Gestures, which allow you to pause/play music or video with a tap of the air in front of the display, or you can snooze an alarm with a wave of your hand. However, in my experience with this feature, it doesn’t always respond to my gestures on the first try, so hopefully, there will be an update to improve it. After experiencing the many features and hands-free help Nest provides, I don’t think I could ever go back to not having one in my home. This Nest Hub becomes the center of whatever room it’s in. Setup experience is simple and quick. After plugging it in, downloading and/or opening the Google Home app on your phone, and tapping the add button you’ll be presented with on-screen easy-to-follow instructions with animations. It makes the setup process a breeze, so I was done within a few minutes. I like that you can watch videos, control your lights. It has a modern compact design .
