I was exciting to change my mesh Wi-Fi from Linksys Velop to Google mesh Wi-Fi pro as Linksys keeps giving me many issues on connection and I need to keep reset the router and other AP to perform. Therefore I decide to get Google nest wifi pro since I have a positive experience with it previous model in other place that I stay for years. It works fairly decent in the beginning. And when I upgrade my internet service from 500mbps to 1gb and now with 1.5Gbps. The problems appear right after installation. It always has a limit of around 200-300mbps.Sometimes it even drops down to 3 or 5mbps with no reason. I gotta reset the modem and router every now and then to make sure the speed is at least around 100mbps for decent internet performance.Lucky the 3-5mbps speed has been fixed after 1-2 firmware upgrade from Google but my speed limit was still a problem. Searching online doesn’t gave me any answers yet. I saw many Google rep said the company still working to resolve the problem.I already use this Google nest Wi-Fi pro over one year. So I guess I have enough experience and frustration to give my opinion for this device. The connection is easy, the appearance is stylish. The performance is okay if you have connection under 500mbps.But when you are expecting fast speed, sorry, this one will make you crazy and want to change another device within a week.Even now, the speed issue is not yet resolve and new problems comes every now and then.I don’t think I will recommend to other until they resolve all these issue.

I previously was using Plume WiFi 6 mesh, which had a mixture of WiFi 6 and 5 WiFi points. I only had two units and we had issues with WiFi Coverage. There was a deal with the Nest WiFi Pro so instead of upgrading my Plume WiFi to 6E and more points (which would have been more expensive then the Google option) we went to Nest WiFi Pro.Pro’s? The WiFi coverage is fantastic with three. We live in a three bedroom single wide trailer. And our bedroom always had an OK WiFi connection but now it’s fantastic. We thought our internet provider was to blame but we were asked to reboot our router and it did fix the problem. And just now some of my WiFi devices were offline (my alarm system) and the Google Home app couldn’t connect to my WiFi router. So I reboot and it fixed the issue. These are issues I never had with Plume, but I have had with other cheaper WiFi routers (which is why I never bought my own routers in the past). The good news is the better coverage is a plus. And it is not yet so unreliable that it causes problems with me right now. But I do believe Plume is the best WiFi router ever. But it’s expensive and sometimes there is a reason for that. This option with the Nest WiFi Pro is acceptable, and can handle my MANY devices I have (6 cameras, all my lights are WiFi/matter based, my alarm system, several game and laptops, phones and tablets, and various other devices that all connectTo WiFi and have a great connection to WiFi). And in the end, that is the main thing I wanted from my WiFi.

I have the Google Nest Wifi Pro 6e (3 pack) but decided I wanted to boost my mesh system (almost overkill) for my house and bought a 4th access point. House is 3 levels and approx 2300 sqft and approx 7800sqft lot. I have the main router and 1 access point on the main level and one access point in the basement. During the mesh tests, it would switch between great connection and weak connection and suggested I move the basement access point for a better mesh experience. I tried multiple setups but found that if I placed all three points on the same level, it gave me the best mesh setup - “great connection.” The coverage in the basement was good enough that I could’ve done without it, but the wife’s phone (iPhone 11), seemed to have issues loading content from social ... Personally, I wanted the coverage at the house to be immaculate, so I bought the fourth access point. Still maintaining the router and two access points on the main level, I added the fourth access point in the basement. The coverage went from good to great!! The whole house and the entire lot (approx 7800sqft) is fully covered and I don’t lose any wifi signal. Signal is strong enough that I could be in the car in my driveway and have everything load instantly! Some of my family members have android phones with 6e capabilities, and it does connect to the 6ghz band. The signal was so strong that even when the phone was taken to the basement, the phone was still connected to the 6ghz band. Usually the phone only stayed on 6ghz when staying close to the router but the 4th access point really changed the game for our house. Although I do feel it maybe overkill with 4 access points, I can’t complain about the speed and network strength! Only downside about the Google Nest Pro 6e router is that if you disable wifi on a singular device without creating a family network, you can’t unpause it. I literally had to create a family network through the Google home app on my cellular data, add all the devices to a family network and then pause all devices and unpause all devices to get the one device back online. Other than that, definitely recommend the Google Nest Wifi Pro 6e router!

I had a Nest Wifi 5 for a long while and worked just ok, but wifi speed was subpar and took forever to connect to my nest cameras. Also, I could never use to the fullest my 1Gbps fiber bandwidth because of the Wifi 5 limitations. For that reason, I decided to give the new Nest Pro 6 a chance. This is the second one that I have purchased. I only had one and while the signal was okay in places in and around my house, I knew it could be better.Setup only took a few clicks through the google home app. Once setup the app knew right away that this was a connection to my other google mesh router. It was very easy to get working properly! I have this one on the opposite side of my house from the other router. The signal is strong and download and upload speeds are strong.I had a prior mesh network from another brand (paid a lot for it) and it was horrible. The hand off between the different mesh routers lacked and I had slower and unstable connections. This 3 pack covers my 3 story home, though the units have to be fairly close to each other / not beyond too many walls the coverage and speed is good. Additionally, these are one of the only units that allow you to monitor traffic on a per device basis. This is a key feature when trying to identify / report on devices you may have in a smart home that are consuming abnormal amounts of bandwidth / network data. Being able to establish a reliable mesh setup is also fairly easy, though the heavy reliance on the QR codes for initial setup can be a challenge as they are not always read / recognized in the setup app. Additionally, unlike many other units on the market, these have fewer than ideal wired connections on the base units. I had to purchase a small switch to attach a number of devices that were able to directly connect to an old Netgear Orbi system; not a show stopper but an additional 2-3 direct connect ports on each of the nodes would be a valuable addition. Lastly, the units are actually decent enough to leave in plain sight since you can configure them to not have lights turned on and they would fit in as a normal piece of random decor in most homes.
For anyone thinking about whether you should buy this Google Wi-fi Pro 6e or the Eero Pro 6e, I will tell you which one is the best. Using Eero I can go down the street around the block and then some before I lose connection. I get full wifi bars on all my devices using Eero and no one complained since getting the Eero. I have over 5,000 square feet of home and I used 4 Eero Pro 6e. I am really enjoying and glad I got the eeros now.Google Wifi pro 6e is okay and it's not bad and cheaper than the Eero but Eero pro 6e is by far a better product than Google. I used them both and can confidently say which one is better.
Despite the small sq footage of my apartment, the layout makes it difficult to get a strong signal to all of my devices. Especially with two PC games running simultaneously, multiple WiFi security cameras, smart thermostats, and various other connected devices, these have greatly improved the speeds of my network overall. I used 5 around various parts of the house to replace the single access point provided by my ISP. I am now able to achieve gigabit speeds with no dead zones anywhere, and the setup is super simple with the Google Home app. It guides you through adding each device, and allows you to test the speed and mesh connection directly through the app. In addition, you can add all the members of your household, so that everyone has access without having to ... The ability to set up a guest network with a separate SSID and password may also be convenient to some. Each device also has the ability to hardwire into the access point, which I have found makes for a more reliable and slightly faster connection, though increases in speed doing so may vary depending on your wireless card.
I had an Asus dual wifi 6 router from 12/2020 that failed on me in late April 2024. I wasn't 100% certain the router was the issue but I purchased these since a new router was the easiest and quickest fix. These were SOOO much easier to set up. Being able to connect an app to the routers instead of using a cable to a computer made this very easy. The only hitch was that the app blocks the iphone light from turning on and the app takes a photo of a QR code on the base of each router to set them up. I have smart lights & I could not turn them bright enough to get the QR to take without my phone's light. I surprised Google overlooked this but otherwise, no issues setting it up.I used the exact same SSID & passcode and I think every 'smart' device reconnected ... I haven't tweaked the settings yet but some of the features I saw offered some good ideas that I wouldn't have considered a router to do.If looks are a concern, these look sleek enough to display out in the open. They have a white light under the plastic surface that makes a dot on the front so people will know they are electonics of some sort, but routers don't come to mind. Even the plugs look sleek.I have a 1500 sq foot 3 BR house. I was a little concerned that the lack of antennas might not really show improvement with the mesh. But they seem to be providing good coverage across the entire house and my office speeds have proven about 20% quicker than my wifi 6 router. I do have one of the mesh routers in the office.
In short: DO NOT BUY IT. Bought this mesh system in July and after 4 months, I started to experience constant high latency, and random packet loss. Sometimes the ping can be as high as 2000ms (when connecting directly through the ethernet from modem, I get consistent <8ms latency, but if I connect with the router, even directly through ethernet, I got random super high latency). I was not able to even finish a sentence in video calls. Very disappointed with this router. It’s 2023 and a $200+ router is not even as reliable as a $20 cheap one 15 years ago. I took the unit to Best Buy and they refused to give refund or replacement and redirected to Google customer service. Then I talked at least 10 hours back and forth with Google customer support to go through trouble ... MoreIn short: DO NOT BUY IT.
