I have just gone from a Pixel 3A to Pixel 7A and I'm disappointed with the newer model. These two phones which are years apart are not an improvement but have made the the 7A slower to operate as per my reasons below. This has been annoying when in a shop at a register and I can't open the payment app quickly.There is the Face recognition on the 7A phone and it too is unreliable as it sometimes won't recognising me to unlock the screen and defaults to using the PIN to access the home screen. I have an iPhone supplied for work and the iPhone face recognition operates flawlessly.REVISITING PREVIOUSLY VIED PAGES.In the 3A design to revisit previously viewed pages, a back arrow was ideally placed at the base of the screen where generally both your hands are placed and your fingers are operating.The 7A doesn't have a back arrow which is fine, so it relies on touching the LHS of the screen and swiping right to return to the previous page. Only problem with the 7A is I have found quite often I am unwantingly flicking back pages, when what I was doing at the time was expanding/magnifying a page to view in more detail and when scrolling the magnified page from left to right, it senses this as an instruction to revisit the previous page and changes from the page I am trying to view to the previous page. Very frustrating.There are some app screens that have a back arrow like on Facebook marketplace, but I found this frustrating to use as you have to lift your hand from the base of the phone to the top of the phone frequently to change between screens. To add to this frustration this back arrow most of the time was non responsive.NON RESPONSIVE TOUCH SCREEN.I have been finding that I am having to touch the screen twice almost like I am not touching the screen with enough pressure the first time so I am having to tap the screen a second time with more pressure to perform an action.CONCLUSIONSo based on what I have mentioned above, I have found the 7A challenging to open the locked screen and the fingerprint reader and face recognition unreliable or very slow to operate .The gestures to operate the 7A are different to the 3A and potentially are my issue and that I need to become more familiar with, but I don't think it is logical by design and operation.All I can hope is that Google provide updates in time to improve the 7A operation and gesture design.

DO NOT PURCHASE. Beyond the 7A's performance being sluggish and the camera underwhelming, the phone shattered within a week of purchase.The phone had a heavy-duty case but despite a minor fall of about a foot on to carpet, not only did the screen shatter but so did the LCD.You won't get a refund. Don't buy.

This has to be one of the best value phones I've ever purchased and used. It comes with everything, great build materials and quality, great software and years of updates. Great camera that phones worth three times the price can't compete with. Get this phone!

The fingerprint sensor is ridiculously bad. You might think it's working, but it's probably the face unlock. If it's slightly dark, you'll be entering your pin. Don't do it too quickly though, because the screen is pretty unresponsive. I bought this because my 4a — which I loved — died. It feels like a downgrade. Also, over two weeks since I bought it and JB haven't sent me the voucher yet, despite promising 'within two weeks'.
I hung onto my Google Pixel 3a until the a series introduced wifi charging. BTW, I loved my 3a and there are some features that I miss with the 7a, below.1. No headphone jack2. Fingerprint now on front but I preferred it on the back3. Have to use two buttons now for a screen shot instead of being one touch via the on/off button.4. Is heaps heavier5. Not as slender in the hand as the old 3a.Other than that I like it, Love the camera,
Good all round phone. Features are well worth the price. I shifted from a Pro 6 to this phone due to size difference. There are a few cons though to be aware of so keep these in mind.1. Fingerprint scanner can be a bit buggy where it will not detect fingerprints at times.2. Wireless charge is slower than most devices at only up to 7.5w, although it's awesome to have wireless charge in a A series, if you need juice fast, plug it in.3. Battery isn't as beefy as a Pro 6 but you get a full days' worth. Depending on usage. E.g Hot spotting drains battery, so does streaming YouTube music Heavy metal mixes all day to keep me sane.Performance, well I haven't noticed anything different compared to the Pro 6, but then again most of the platforms I use are web based. I recently purchased a Google Pixel 7 and found that it only worked intermittently with Android Auto. While using in my car it was not possible to navigate or make phone calls through Android Auto.All steps to rectify the problem were done,(tried recommended cable, phone was updated).The phone was replaced with another Google Pixel 7 but the same problem occurred..I have now replaced the phone with a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra which works flawlessly out of the box.It's a shame as I was hopeful for good experience with a Google Pixel. It cost me a lot of time 2 protective screen protectors and a phone case.
Didn't think I was gonna get the pixel bud but I did lol.Great phone at a great price, got scammed on a 6a acouple weeks ago and decided it's time to buy phones from reliable sellers.Switched from iphone so I am really surprised on how good this phone is, especially when I use most of the googles services, setting up is just too easy.
Great phone. Biggest let-down is the battery life; less than a full day for heavy users. Charging is okay. Fingerprint reader isn't perfect but it does the job. Overall a really good phone for the price.
Finally upgraded my Pixel 3a to this as I wanted to skip the 6 and the 7 was a bit too pricy. Porting over my customised setup of the 3a to the 7a was seamless and the new device was setup exactly like my old one in a matter of minutes! All my settings carried over and it saved me hours of tinkering to get the 7a setup like my 3a.Overall the phone is a solid step up from the 3a, camera is outstanding and the screen, compared both devices side by side are practically identical. Impossible to tell the difference in normal conditions. I cant fault the 7a, picked up the snow white model and was a little disappointed JBs didn't stock the white case, online order only.The user stating a warm/orange screen tint just might have had their device tick over into the Pixel ... MoreFinally upgraded my Pixel 3a to this as I wanted to skip the 6 and the 7 was a bit too pricy.
