Its not perfect in terms of comfort, no watch has been since the Pebble time, but its better than others.The watch makes great use of Fitbit, which Google acquired. If you have Google Fi, the $50/mo plan comes with free 5G access for this watch. It is definitely making use of the google's systems. But Google actually allows you to download your data across all of its products and look for yourself what they're collecting...and it was innocuous; There was nothing there that bothered me. That is more transparency than I've gotten from the competing products.

A decent 1st try at a smart watch however this should be expected as google is a little bit late to the smart watch game compared to it's rivals. Hardware design is excellent with the curved edges feeling very classy. Significant Bezels are present on the device however when using the majority of watch faces it blends into the black so it is not really a factor.The obvious shortcoming here is the device only comes in the 41mm screen size so is really only appropriate for females or those with really skinny wrists. It would be good if customisation of watch faces and the fitness components could be incorporated into one app.Battery life for such a small device was also a bit of a negative. However with a lot of pixel devices it does learn behaviour so I would hope this doe improve as it gets used to my regular routines. I would often have to recharge some time during the day which isn't generally an issue as I have my charger at my work station but could be an issue for those that can't recharge during the day. My typical day would include a run/cycle in the morning and then just muted notifications during my work day from 8 till 6. If I don't recharge the devices is sitting at 10 - 15% by the end of my work day.Overall an impressive first go and would recommend for anyone that has an android phone and has a skinny wrist. I would be excited for the second generation offering a larger screen size maybe 45-46mm even if it does cost a bit more.

Don't believe all the haters and lies about this

People give most of the negative reviews regarding a pixel Watch sighting poor battery usage. If you take the time to set up your watch by turning off features not needed/wanted such as dim the screen brightness (which on the lowest level can still be seen just fine in the sun, especially with adaptive screen brightness turned on), and turn off alerts for apps that are not inportant, etc., you'll get better battery life than the Apple Watch 7 like I am experiencing. When compared to Samsung Galaxy watch, you could argue that Samsung wins, but again, the issue is that if you compare the Galaxy Watch that is comparable in size, the battery life is much closer than stated. Lastly, I've read reviews knocking Pixel Watch for not auto-tracking workouts. This is false as well. Pixel Watch will record activities that you do not initiate through the Fitbit app. Best thing about Pixel Watch is that it is probably the most elegant design I've owned in a fitness watch.

Ended up like a Sense that I have to charge more

Due to the poor battery life AND slow charging capabilities I either need to charge it in the morning and evening for 20-30 min at a time or go for 45-60 min without the watch on for a single charge. This is on days I DON'T workout and I have the majority of the features disabled in the watch. I only use it to receive text messages, time (obv), and heart rate/activity/sleep tracking. Unfortunately, if I've been away from my phone for more then 30 min I get a message stating I'm not connected to my phone and I'm unable to send any text messages. A quick Google search shows this has been a problem since Dec 2022 which has not been resolved.It gets 2 stars because of its potential, beautiful interface, excellent activity tracking, and seamless connection to Fitbit features. If I could return it for the non-LTE version I would but I've passed that point so I'm hoping at the VERY least the LTE functionality works with an update but I'm not holding my breath.I opted to get this for $50 more rather than repurchasing a Sense which at this point I think is a 2 yr old device. However, I've ended up with a prettier device with the same level of practical functionally, that I'm able to wear less due to charging requirements.

Then after I got up, I had to charge it again just to make it through the whole day.Despite all this, owning the Pixel watch after coming from an Apple Watch is quite a bit disappointing when it comes to functionality and usefulness when it comes to app integration, and the amount of apps available for the Pixel watch. The Google play store has a very limited selection of apps to use on the watch as compared to what you can get from Apple.Then comes the problems that everyone needs to know about if they’re thinking of buying one of these.Besides the handful of bugs that seem to plague the Android ecosystem, getting a full charge from the watch, at times took more than four hours to fully charge the watch. It seems that charging slows to a crawl after an update to the watch is released. I had discovered this on several occasions where the watch would still be at 50 percent, or so, even after all night. You have to restart the watch to get it to return to its normal charging state.Another huge issue is how you attach the bands. To do this, you have to press the small buttons on the top and bottom sides of the Watch. After pressing these buttons, the band usually came off rather quickly. Getting it back on, is quite a challenge. You have to line it up perfectly to get it to attach properly. I ended up missing so much, that I scratched the sides of the watch in the process.To be quite honest, you should definitely think of buying this watch before you happen to do so. This watch has plenty of things wrong with it. The first thing is that the battery life is subpar, along with the fact that it’s not an Apple Watch. Besides the lack of apps available, having to pay an extra fee for Fitbit access makes it much more expensive than it should be.

My favorite smartwatch yet

I'm very happy with this smartwatch. I previously had the Fitbit Versa 3 and also briefly wore a Samsung, and the Pixel Watch is better than both. The watch itself is really nice, smaller and with a nicer form factor than the current Samsung models. The dial/button makes it immediately better than the Fitbit Versa 3 whose invisible "button" was extremely inconsistent. The screen is nice and durable; I've bumped it lightly on a few things and have yet to nick or scratch it. The setup and customization feels intuitive and easy, and the various tiles and features feel much more useful than the Samsung. Having worn Fitbits for a long time, I like that this uses the Fitbit architecture for workout and activity tracking; if Google can just add a few features that were in the Fitbit watches (marking laps during workouts in particular), it will really bring the Pixel Watch in line with the best activity trackers out there.Yes, the battery life is pretty bad, it does need daily charging which requires you to be diligent in finding time to take it off, especially if you wear it for sleep tracking. But I consider that a pretty minor complaint, as I tend to charge it during the evening hours when I know I'll be sitting still for a while.

This is apparently a widespread issue across many pixel watch users, with google's solution being to not use the always-on display. 2: Lack of essential health features. When I picked up the pixel watch, I was pleased to see on the spec list that not only did it have an HR sensor, but also an ECG array and a SpO2 sensor array. While using the watch, I was able to utilize the HR and ECG functions with no issues, just like I would on my apple watches from years past. The SpO2 sensor, however, was inoperable. After doing further digging, google stated that they are still waiting for it to be clinically validated before they enable the feature, which makes complete sense. However, if you are like me and like to track all the metrics from your workouts, SpO2 included, do not get this watch based on the possibility of a software update enabling the sensors. 3: Battery life. The battery life on this watch is absolutely non-existent. The pixel watch uses an improved version of fitbit's purepulse tech, which collects heart rate data every second, which is great in theory, but for a ultra thin, 41mm watch, it chews through battery life like no other watch I have used. I honestly wished google released a larger face, as the battery inside was way too small to run a 24/7 HR monitor alongside wearOS, which was already notorious for how power hungry it is. TL:DR; The Pixel watch's software integrations with all android distros (NothingOS, OneUI, MaterialYou, etc.) is best-in-class. The execution of the hardware, although refined in appearance, is lacking in battery life, quality display tech, and sufficent health monitoring features. If you're looking for the best wearOS watch out now, the pixel watch is very close to the pinnacle, but I would recommend waiting for a second generation to release before dropping $349/$399 on this product.

It does most of what I’d expect from a smart watch, and a lot of what I’d expect from a fitness tracker. It looks sleek and comes with two silicone bands which feel nice, cover a reasonably wide range of wrist sizes, tuck away nicely, and are quick and easy to swap. Build quality all around seems solid. The built-in Google Assistant is quite handy, providing a convenient means of navigating around the various functions of the device, as well as providing voice input as an alternative to the tiny on screen keyboard which can be cumbersome to use. The user interface is highly configurable, including watch face layout customization, ‘complication’ selection, a large array of pastel color themes to choose from, and a tile system that acts as both the display of useful information, as well as launching points for commonly used apps. The heart rate tracking is exceptionally responsive. The screen is reasonably bright and quite useable outside in the sunlight. Provides convenient access to notifications from your phone, with meaningful interactions/responses provided in many cases.[ The bad ]The elephant in the room is the “all day” battery capacity which is an overly generous description. I might manage 24 hours with battery-conserving settings and light usage. But more demanding settings such as always-on display and tracking several exercises/activities throughout the day can really put the hurt on battery charge. If I accidentally fail to turn on ‘bedtime’ mode, then I’m likely to wake up with a completely empty battery and either no or partially tracked sleep. I haven’t seen a way to schedule this mode automatically. Making matters worse is that only the official/included charging cradle is supported. I think, at a minimum, they should have supported reverse wireless charging from Pixel phones, the type of feature that can be found in a popular competing product. I can imagine battery life decay over time becoming an exceptionally annoying issue, especially considering the battery seems to be non-replaceable. The minor saving grace here is that the battery charges quickly (officially about 30/55/80 minutes for 50/80/100% recharge, which closely matches my experience).This watch doesn’t quite feel like a full-blown fitness tracker. Some sensor features like blood oxygen and skin temperature are missing completely. Automatic activity tracking seems minimally implemented (not really a listed feature). Activity tracking lacks many metrics and features found in Fitbit and other competing watches. The way many features–which are purely software logic–are locked behind the overpriced Fitbit Premium membership feels practically predatory. And the fact that the Fitbit app is completely separate from the Watch app (the latter used to set up and configure the watch) and requires a separate account is just clumsy.Various nitpicks include:- Some apps didn’t feel as useful as they could or should. For example, when paired to a phone, voice prompts in the Maps app were played through the phone’s speaker instead of the watch’s speaker. Ideally, there should be a setting to change this behavior, but I did not see one. It also doesn’t seem to support offline maps the way the Maps app on phones does. Home integration seemed to be lacking some basic features that would be nice to have; like I couldn’t view my Nest doorbell or security cameras.- The maximum volume of the speaker is rather anemic, though usually sufficient in a quiet atmosphere to understand assistant voice responses and phone calls.- The button above the crown, used for accessing recently used apps and activating the assistant voice input, is sized and placed in a way that made it quite inconvenient for me to use.- Enormous unused bezel around the display.- The domed bottom surface creates a bit of a pressure point on the wrist which may bother some users, especially if wearing it to bed at night where certain positions can increase that pressure.- The stiffness of the band can make firm docking to the charging puck awkward and can require a bit of fidgeting.- The smart home integration is a bit lacking, though it appears that Google is working on improving on this with future updates.
