This is one of my favourite gadgets when I am out and about. I take it on my walks , hikes, runs and swims. The video stabilization is great and image quality is absolutely amazing considering the size of this camera. Battery life is great but as always, I wish it was better. I also found it to be performing well under low light so it can also be easily used when it's darker. There is also advantage of being able to mach accessories.

I love this camera, even being an older generation. Battery life is great, I have 2 spares to swap out with and usually get through a baseball game on 1 battery. Shooting underwater provides a clear picture also, recommend getting a floating handle as it's easier to hold. Overall great camera and very durable..

I love this camera since I'm barely starting out a YouTube channel about the outdoors, trips, shopping, and just my daily life. This has supported me along with GoPro's other cameras. The battery life is long lasting which helps me in videos to rego over something I messed up. I've dropped this numerous times, and not one scratch! I am able to show the great detail in my life and nature thanks to GoPro!

Excellent camera for underwater and any action (biking etc). I have many accessories for this camera and even use it as a dash cam sometime as it has GPS and you can show this overlay in your final video. Image comes out clear and video quality is great. Battery life is about an hour depending on the settings used but you can extend that by changing settings and even having a spare at hand.

This camera is amazing. It takes clear, moving pictures and video. It’s so crisp and clean. It looks amazing. If it wasn’t for these awesome cameras, we would not be able to see some of the most beautiful places in the mountains that people can get back into. For instants my husband boondocks and he takes us every time he goes and records what’s going on and I have seen the news beautiful pictures skies on it. I would never seen these if he hadn’t had that with him to bring back to show me.

I've abused the batteries, over-tensioned the official (but sold separately) straps and mounts, and nothing has given out. Out of the box (no upgrades to firmware) it's still supported by the phone app if you've strapped it somewhere hard to reach/see but you want to control it or preview what it is looking at. The first of the gopros to feature waterproofing without a case and the 240fps footage works great. It's an amazing camera, and with a usb-c to micro-hdmi capture card setup it continues use in working-from-home as a brilliant webcam. DONT USE WATERPROOF CASE SERIOUSLY

So I got this in January, used it once and it’s been stuck in the waterproof case since. Because of this, I had to try and pry it out, scraping up my brand new (to me) GoPro! This is unacceptable, I learned while finally getting it out and it having to take two people with butter knives etc, that the LENS CAP SUCTIONED TO THE CASE lens cap area . When I got it off today, the lens on my GoPro stayed in the case, the GoPro came out in parts. I am normally very gentle with my electronics and I was with this as well.But now, two months later, I have a GoPro in prices I used once, with broken accessories and the body of the camera is scratched.I need you to make this right. Fantastic for capturing my canoe routes

I love this camera. I use it, along with a multitude of GoPro accessories, for capturing the serenity of my canoe tripping in the backcountry. It is rugged, durable, waterproof, and has never failed me. Battery life isn't fantastic, so I usually carry 4-5 extras with me as well as the dual battery charger and a few mobile battery chargers while out on longer trips. But recording 4K30fps footage it will last me for approximately 2 hours straight if desired and other settings are limited (screen off, wireless off, etc.). 4K footage takes up a lot of space which has nothing to do with GoPro so I carry several 128GB cards as well. I've used it with the head strap, chesty, 3-way tripod and extension arm, super suit, and several other accessories and it has stood the test ... MoreI love this camera. I read another review about charring inside the battery housing after underwater use. This is definitely due to water leaking in to the case and usually means the battery door was not entirely sealed. If using this underwater, always make sure all side doors are sealed (sometimes it takes an extra second of fiddling to ensure it closes securely). I also typically will use the Super Suit when doing pure underwater footage as extra protection never hurt anyone. All in all, I love this camera, and given the minimal difference in specs vs the Hero 6, I'm happy with this. Cheers.

PROS CONS The image quality is simply quite stunning. Not many in my view. It boasts image stabilisation, it works well. The microphones are a marked improvement Thetouch screen response* over earlier units. The batteries are not backwards Its waterproof without a case to 10M. compatible. It has still image functions. The quality of the casing is good It gives the GoPro 5 a satisfying solid feeling in action. Finally, for you techies, and this is a feature just I love, it has voice command recognition and GPS! With larger than average fingers and thumbs, its a smidgeon finicky to flick through the comparatively small 2 screen menu and the touch screen lags a little*, but apart from that, all of the new features work well and I had no problem pairing the device with my wife's Hero 3's remote control, so that's a saving, no need to buy an updated remote. I've noted a few comments elsewhere on not being able to pair the earlier remote, but that hasn't been my experience, thanks to a bit of research on Google, what would we do without it! The plastic waterproof case on earlier GoPro's with the clip arrangement that was reliant on the plastic lug remaining intact on the outer casing, was always a pet gripe with me, it was weak point, but that's been resolved. You don't need a separate case with a rebated seal any more, the camera, as a stand-alone unit, is waterproof. My overall verdict, it's well priced, good value for money and it's a GoPro, a branded product with a well-deserved reputation for its original design concept and build quality. Go for it. It retails at the full price for around 350.
