Works exactly as advertised. No more slanted horizons. Allows me to hold my GoPro upside down. Video is sharp and bright.The only negative is you can't record in 4K. 2.7K is max. Not a dealbreaker for me when I consider the added versatility this mod brings.

This comes in handy for those wide angle shots with horizon leveling. I should add that this mod is not required for horizon leveling. You can simply enable it on your GoPro 9 and turn the camera completely upside down and the camera will keep the horizon orientation level. The problem is it crops in so much your view is narrow. This lens is just a wide angle lens that remedies that and gives you a better FOV.One con is in this mode, you are limited to 2.5K

Definitely a nice addition. Quick easy install, the horizon leveling is a must for action sports to avoid viewers from getting shaky motion sickness blur, and the extreme wide angles are pretty awesome as well. You can find this on sale from time to time, so I would look for a little cheaper price. My only real complaint about the lens is that it seems like it'll scratch fairly easily, such as the GoPro Max lenses did.
I imagine a team getting together and designing the go pro. then someone on the team had a bright idea and said, let's take it all apart and make ppl buy the pieces separately... after all, if you don't have a max lens mod, why would you buy a go pro? better luck with an iPhone.I got this at Bestbuy because it was on sale or maybe it was an open box, I can't remember. Either way, It lives in my go-pro hero 9. I really don't see why anyone wouldn't buy the max lens. this is what separates the doers and the actors.
I have been using this to record motorcycle rides and in my opinion it is awesome. It has replaced the standard lens on my GoPro 9. There are good YouTube videos on how to go into your settings to adjust for filming. I am looking for lens covers to store my lens that came with the GoPro 9. When you replace with the Max lens you do not have a cover to protect the other lens. I use the cover that comes with the Max lens to protect it on my GoPro. The other side of the Max lens case does not fit/hold the other lens
LESS than "Poor". Will not twist onto the mounting hub of my GoPro HERO9. Tried it all, had the son try it. Finally went on Youtube and saw many, many other people with the exact same problem.VERY DISAPPOINTING. I use my GoPro a lot, was really looking forward to using this particular add on because it gives me access to extra features. I brought it back.Come on GoPro we love you, don't let us down!
Some people say that this lens mod is a gimmick, that one should be able to achieve stabilization effects with the existing firmware, that the extra firmware features are locked until this lens mod is attached. It's an interesting upgrade but the convex shaped lens makes it difficult to apply protective film to the lens. One pit or scratch and this add-on will become a $99.99 paperweight. GoPro should release a glass or plastic lens protector for this mod like those for their other convex lenses. Meh. I may add more stars later when I have more time to experiment with it. The build quality is excellent.
I bought the GoPro 11 Black the first day it was released. Playing around, I see it misses lots of set up, so I bought this lens thinking I can have all the good thing for my new GoPro. Turn out I was wrong. When setting up the lens to max wide, the picture is distorted, like looking through fish eyes. In order to have a normal video with no distortion, I have to reset it at 2.7K 60 W, then all the new features are nothing for me. Video quality is just like my old GoPro 8, and 9. Then what is the use to buy this extra lens?
I use this for a dash cam while riding my motorcycle and for riding off road as well. It’s a cool mod for sure, a little annoying it’s $100 on top of the already high price of a go pro. 4 stars due to the fact that it doesn’t have a lot of options with settings. Watch a YouTube review and you’ll understand all you need to know. I’d buy it again.
