Gotham Knights - PS5

Despite mid critical reception, I found myself highly enjoying Gotham Knights past the bugs (which at my current time of playing have more or less been fixed). While gameplay departs from the Arkham series in a lot of ways, the combat still feels punchy, with every attack carrying a lot of weight and making it feel really good to take on the variety of enemies the game throws at you. It also has a more RPG-centric leveling system, where you not only add new abilities with each level increase, but you unlock new gear and customization for said gear that further increases your power and style. I admit, I love putting on new costumes for the characters, and unlike other RPGs I seldom find styles I hate on the characters. Although the game does include a transmog system, which esentially allows you to place any complete outfit over your character should the gear you have not be to your tastes. To go back to gameplay, and in larger part the story, you play as one of the four titular heroes seen on the cover as you try to investigate the mystery behind Batman's death. When it comes to investigation, I personally feel it's better than the Arkham series. Where in those games you would scan an important item and Batman would explain why it was important before going back to the game, here you have to scan multiple items of interest, and then piece together which ones will continue the game. It apes a bit off the Sherlock Holmes games in that sense, but it isn't as challenging as those games, with the answer being fairly straightforward. Aside from this main story, there are also plenty of sidequests involving a handful of Batman's rogues gallery, and the storylines here are just as engaging as the main game. Personally, if they have plans for DLC, a lot could be done here with updates including new villains to tackle in Batman's absence. Overall, I've so far enjoyed my time with this game. The story is engaging, sidequests are fun, even maneuvering through the open world is a treat, and every character lpays differently amongst themselves so it provides a lot of variety and replayability. And with the inclusion of co-op, I would definitely recommend this game, despite what few shortcomings it does have.

A decent game but a bit repetitive

While this game isn’t as bad as most major review sites say it is. This game isn’t without its flaws.For starters the games story will carry this game in terms of enjoyment. And while the combat is fun at first it does begin to become repetitive after a few hours thankfully new enemies are introduced that mix things up. However the activities outside of the story are just boring. It’s cool to them a few times but after awhile you’ll realize you’re doing the same thing over and over again just with a different faction as your enemy.I do recommend plaything this just for the story but I can’t see this game lasting a long time in a players console after completion especially when around this time of year lots of games come out.Also in terms of price. Don't believe the reviews

I bought this game after reading/watching reviews and almost didn't buy it. I decided to buy it anyways and have been really enjoying it so far. I had to stop myself from comparing it to the recent Arkham Batman games before I could enjoy it for what it is. After i stopped comparing it to those games and broke the muscle memory of countering attacks instead of dodging i began to enjoy the combat a lot more. Keep in mind none of these playable characters are a 1:1 replacement for Batman. Im not sure if it was on purpose but I like the idea that all the sidekicks have bits and pieces of what Batman could do and need to reley on eachother to make up for individual shortcomings. If you're looking for a good story (that follows the comics pretty faithfully) and some interesting combat this is a great game. I do not mean to say this game doesnt have its faults because it certainly does. The RPG elements will keep you playing this game but can be a bit grindy after awhile and the enemies become damage sponges in higher levels. I'm hopeful this game gets supported after launch with updates and new features but for now running around Gotham (especially with a co-op buddy) is just plain fun.

Game released at a bad time

With all the batmans games that came before this game and how the end of arkham knight left us with so many questions and answers this game was not doing so well when it was first annouced. I didnt buy the game because I myself saw all the negative comments people were saying about this game during that time. Move forward a year later to today, i have the cbox game pass on my pc and downloaded the game. i have been playing it and so far ive enjoyed the story of the game. Sure its not anything like the batman games but this game isnt bout batman its about the gotham knights. I would give this game a 5/5 but the fighting mechanics in this game does need some work, thats my only issue with the game. Good ideas blocked by structural choices

Gotham Knights is a conflicting game. While I enjoyed it in parts especially for the sale price of $10, it’s hard to not see all the missed potential of this game. Enough has been talked about the clearly scrapped live service that existed in this game. I don’t mind growing games but the problem with live services has always been there need for the user to continue playing. Gotham Knights has an interesting story and I would have loved to see the game expanded on if some of the structural design choices were so annoying. The combat is bashed on compared to the Spiderman and Arkham games. While clearly inferior, there is some merit to the combat here. I Like It!

I wouldn't say it's an excellent game, but I wouldn't say it's terrible, either, like many online reviews color it to be.The movement/controls could be tightened up and smoothed out, but combat is overall quite good. The city is large without fewling unnecessarily huge. There are plenty ways to get around the city. My main criticism is that, while each hero has his/her own abilities, they all feel pretty similar in combat. Their uniqueness is mostly highlighted in the way they approach non-combat obstacles. Their unlockable abilities do help to mitigate the single-button combat, but it can feel a bit boring at the beginning.The combat honestly reminds me a bit of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Which isnt a bad thing, necessarily. And Gotham Knights apparently lacks the ability to parry or block, only dodging is possible, but it's still similar.All in all, I have been enjoying the game, and despite all the hate toward it, its certainly worth picking up when it's on sale, especially if you enjoyed AC Odyssey and/ or Valhalla. Maybe that's the problem...people are comparing it to the Arkham games and hating it because it's not like those. This definitely isn't an Arkham Batman game. I do wish there was a bit more gadgetry in Gotham Knights. But yeah, anyway, I enjoy this game for what it is, instead of hating it for what it isn't.

It’s about what you would expect.

Product was in perfect condition. The game’s story is fairly shallow. It’s one of those, we’re just going to utilize narrative summary so that we can throw you into the gameplay as soon as possible situations. The OCD side of me loved this game though. Loved ticking things off the map. The map itself wasn’t overwhelming like many games these days. They opted for fewer side missions in exchange for giving said side missions more TLC than most other developers. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.

Doing parkour across the city is painful due to the lack of efficiency in mechanics; the game has a hard time locking the characters feet or hands onto the surrounding environment. Add this with the poor optimisation (struggles to keep its head around 24fps) for PS5 and it makes it not fun to play.The physics of the motorbike (main form of transport) are not considered and it feels extremely boring to travel from place to place on it.This version of Gotham city does not commit to an aesthetic like Arkham Knight does. Very Pleasantly Surprised

This game has been a very pleasant surprise. I thought it looked intriguing when it came out, but the reviews weren’t so hot. With a great price drop recently, I finally picked it up. Wow! I’ve been missing out. The story, gameplay, and graphics are all great. There is so much to do. If you’re sick of Batman and the Joker—they are so overused—this is the game for you. You can play as four other members of the Bat Family—I’m playing the entire game as Batgirl and loving it—and take on iconic villains like the Court of Owls, Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, Clayface, and more. It’s everything I could have hoped for and much more than I expected.
