Grangers Clothing Repel - Black/1L

Product is easy to use - just add to the washing machine to clean and it does a reasonable job. It did not completely clean all stains from the jacket, but the jacket had been really grubby and the difference was noticable. Waterproofing was successful in light showers but has not yet had a major rain test so this review may need to be updated. The final stage to water proof suggests either iron or heat in a tumble dryer to activate the water proofing as per your jackets instructions. I chose to put my ski jacket in the tumble dryer on a low heat shortish cycle which appears to have been enough.

Great beading!

I has to carry a box in the rain and got ink on my coat so washed it in grangers wash and then re-proofed it using this. Sadly not all the ink marks came out but generally the coat looks brighter, smells nice and seems better proofed than when it was new a few months ago. Have been out in the rain and the beading is great leaving me warm and dry.

Great for WPB fabrics and windbreaker fabric

Used this to restore water repellency on Patagonia Houdini (Ripstop, windbreaker), Salomon Bonatti (Pertex, WPB), and an old OR Rain Jacket (Pertex, WPB).The DWR product works great but there are a few details that aren't quite clear in the instruction:1. You need to prewash your garment using Granger Performance Wash.2. If you use the DWR liquid too little you won't get a good result, when I doubt, more is better. I used 2 caps (100ml) per jacket in a top loading washing machine.3. ~20 minutes of low heat inside a drying machine is recommended.

Great for keeping quality of garments

Love this for prolonging down jackets. Keeps the down loft after washing and the water repellency. Helps extend the life of my jackets. I use it a couple times throughout the winter and also once more at the end of the season. Makes a big difference to be able to wash the jackets more frequently without ruining the down.

Great water proofer

The performance proofed is great when used in conjunction with Granger’s performance wash and repel. Prepare the clothing items, when dry spray this on and place the garment in the dryer on “proofing” and let it ‘set-off’. Water beads off nicely and the garment’s natural water proofing returns.

Much better than spray on

I typically used the NikWax spray on formula, but depending on application, found that there were still areas that would not bead water properly.I only used this once, and it works fabulously. Spray on didn’t quite last as long either, so hopefully this does.The only down side is having to go through two wash cycles - cleaner, and repel, but if you’re not pressed for time, it’s a minor problem.

Reasonable price and seems easy to use

Compared to spray on, it’s roughly the same value, but it is a lot easier to use. I plan on using it for soft shells, or other items where breathability is inherent. One bottle is ~ 3+ applications, as it's a 300 mL bottle and it's recommended to use 100 mL per single garment (add 50 mL per extra grament)

Restores waterproofness, but beware of quantity

Product does restore waterproofness, my jacket starting beading water again after treatment. However, beware that if you treat only a single item the product only contains enough for two treatments (6 capfuls) according to the instructions, which recommend 3 cap-full (150ml) of product to treat a single product. They recommend an additional cap-full for each additional item so a single unit of the product would not give you more than 1 treatment for multiple items treated simultaneously. 2 bottles would give you 3 treatments of two items treated simultaneously with no product leftover. Resurrection

Easy to use and doesn’t smell like old crayons like some of the other brands. The smell is clean and neutral which is a big plus for me. Will have to see how it holds up but so far has resurrected an older goretex that I love, so here’s hoping it continues to bead water like a duck!

Works - Expensive if using a top load washer

I have been using this product. It works well. The issue I have is it requires four capfuls if using a top load wash machine (directions do not specify HE machine or not). Four capfuls is a lot to treat one coat. That is, I am guessing, about a third to a quarter of the bottle. At twenty plus dollars Canadian this is pricey.
