This guitar was perfect out of the box! I've owned many guitars, and Gretsch always pulls through with a fantastic item. I lowered the bridge just a hair and the action was perfect. The Bigsby doesn't throw the guitar out of tune. I play a lot of surf guitar, so I use the Bigsby often. The pickups are crisp and everything I wanted. The finish is absolutely gorgeous (Goldust). Gretsch nailed it with this guitar. Feels like you're playing a much more expensive item. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck! Highly recommended. Also, AMS delivered the next day! What more could I ask for!

While recovering from a 2nd back surgery, I’ve been going thru a bit of a rockabilly phase. Sure I could have used my Tele to capture some of those sweet tones but if you want Rockabilly, you gotta have a Gretsch. At about 7 1/2 pounds, this hollowbody helps my aching back. The U shaped neck is thick & is a perfect match for my meaty hands. Pickups give ya the clean and crunch you need with the traditional Gretsch tone. Being a hollowbody it will distort at higher volumes. Finish is beautiful but knobs are kind of cheap feeling. Tuners seem solid as is the Bigsby. My only beef is the nut is rough and I’m gonna need to get that squared away. Still, good guitar at a great price.

**updated**I got a replacement with no faults and have been playing this for a good while now. It's a fantastic guitar. The action suits my playing style and the hollow body gives a great tone. I'm not a fan of the tone/volume knobs as they feel a bit cheap but this is a minor thing and I can always replace them.I'm giving this 3 stars as one of the pickups was faulty on arrival. From what playing I did, the guitar was nice to play and sounded good but I can't give a full review until I get one that works. I'll update my review when I can.

My Gretsch
4 March 2020

I love the feel, but I like to finger pick and when I do my nail picking moves the 1st String off the groove on the bridge. So, I've got to be aware of where my hand is to ensure that it's further away from the pickup to avoid it doing that,! I love it so far and can't wait to hear it on a good sized amplifier! Although I do wish it was AMERICAN MADE! I'll still be on the lookout for a Vintage Gretsch which I've always wanted.

Nice Guitar-Pickups Not My Taste
20 July 2022

Overall:I have the 2420T in Gunmetal and she is beautiful. I replaced the knobs with chrome G-Arrow knobs and it has a great classic look. Fit and finish excellent. A little buffing compound under the neck/body joint but no biggie. Bigsby is smooth and the hardware is decent enough and holds tune. I wrapped on some D’Addario Chromes and the playability is excellent. The only let down for me is in the pickups. They sound hollow and muddy. I have to really do a great deal of knob twiddling on my guitar and amp to get it to approach what is termed “that great Gretsch sound”. I’m gonna try a lighter round wound set of strings to see if that helps, but the flat wounds have always sounded great on my Filter’tron equipped Gretsches. Very Nice, Good Price, Don't Touch The Bigsby!
17 April 2019

It is a beautiful guitar and the craftsmanship is quite nice even at this price point. I found a couple little dimples in the finish but not where they can be seen easily. Strings follow the centerline of the neck and don't hang too close to the edge. Fret ends are clean and free of sharp corners and no serious buzz points. The laurel fret board has nice grain and color although the jury is still out on any tonal effect. The pickups are great for the price and they do have that Gretschy output. The jack holds cable end snuggly with no wiggle but releases easily. That is the good stuff. Here are the issues for me;1. The tuners are smooth but the nut is as sticky as any I have ever seen although that can be fixed with a tusq or bone upgrade at no great cost.2. The tone and master volume are very responsive but the independent volume pots seem to have no rhyme or reason in their function. They seem to work against each other more than together for lack of a better way to put it. I plane to change them if I decide it to be cost worthy.3. DON'T touch the Bigsby! You touch it, you retune every time. I have had issues with a Bigsby before but this is awful. With that said I feel the problem is the strings are hanging on the bridge. Roller bridge???? Might do the trick.Bottom line is, it really is a nice guitar and at a very fair price. It just needs a little attention in a couple spots. Spend another $500-$600 for a better model or do some upgrades for half of that.

YES!!

Personally I rarely bestow five stars on anything. To get five stars from me, the item under review would have to be truly exceptional. But this Gretsch Streamliner is hard to fault.Certainly you might hear some complain that "It doesn't twang" like a Country Gentleman for example but then your talking about a guitar that costs north of £2500 not south of £450.And I have to say it makes me wonder why you would spend the extra hundreds on an Electromatic, let's say, when this is so good. The quality of the build and finish is extremely high for an instrument at this price point. Playability and sound equally so.And it does say Gretsch on the headstock which brings with it a massive cache of cool.Be it blues or jazz, rockabilly or punk, indie jangle or country ... MorePersonally I rarely bestow five stars on anything.
