I bought this product with the intention of increasing my grip strength. I ordered the extra heavy tension (white version) to get the best results. I've never measured my grip strength in pounds so I wasn't sure if this tension would be too much or just enough. Turns out "extra heavy tension" is a pretty loose definition- it's quite easy to use if you've done any amount of climbing.I'm honestly a little disappointed in the amount of resistance in the product. In order to feel any sort of minor fatigue I have to squeeze this device 70-90 times in a row without stopping. However, it's not all bad. It does at least work individual fingers (but even my pinky finger doesn't have a problem with this tension). If they had a similar product with a much higher resistance ... MoreI bought this product with the intention of increasing my grip strength. Until then I suppose I'll just keep using this one with high reps... I've started to use it like a stress ball when I study.

I’m a climber and have more endurance than any of my climbing partners. My forearms rarely if ever get tired. My friends all laugh about my endurance and I tell them it’s because I keep a grip master in my car, and I genuinely believe that to be the reason why.I keep it in my car and every time I drive I crank it. I got the heavy tension. Around 100 fast reps is when I start to feel the pump and I’ll do another 50-100 after that. I stop when it really starts burning but well before I’m out of strength to continue. I’d say I do around 500 per hand. I’ve had no issues with carpal tunnel or any other pain/discomfort from doing this for the past two years but I’ve seen tremendous results. After about a year of use I noticed that it felt different and when I looked, ... MoreI’m a climber and have more endurance than any of my climbing partners. I’m not taking away any stars from my rating because I really used the heck out of this thing. The price is reasonable too so I bought a new one and will be pleased if I can get another year out of this before having to replace it again.

This thing is awesome. I have never used them before but I bought the highest resistance one and I have noticed a change in my hands, fingers, and forearms in just a few weeks (Not how they look, but the way the feel and how they perform). I am on the computer a lot be it for work or school or Warcraft, and I would use this thing at the computer constantly or carry it around the house. Got a loading screen, do a few reps. On a zoom meeting? Lets get in a few squeezes. The instructions that come with it are perfect too for proper use. Easy to master. Worth every single penny.

One of my coworkers had one of these and I thought it would be great to have as I sat in meetings. Call a musician's fidget toy! I have notice a difference in just a couple of weeks with my hammer ons and pull offs when playing. Recommend it if you are struggling with those.
The Gripmaster Pro is a solid choice for anyone (not just climbers) needing finger and forearm gains. It's portable, great for on-the-go workouts, and the finger-specific design is key. It does have uneven resistance and a funky feel, especially for my big hands, but overall, it's a good bang for your buck. Pro tip: start lighter if you're new to the grip game.
This is great for beginners looking to condition their hands for climbing. After a year of consistent, once per day use, I feel a tangible improvement in my grip strength.Unintentionally, use it the most at the office as a more constructive fidgeting device. It's quiet enough not to bother the guy in the next cubicle and doesn't take up much room in a drawer or backpack. Now I take it with me everywhere. I saw results faster than anticipated because it's so easy to pick up and do 10-20 reps randomly throughout the day.
I recently went on a long vacation, and didn't climb for 4 weeks. When I came back, I noticed that my grip strength had really diminished, and it took me several weeks to gain it back. When I was browsing the climbing section, I noticed this and thought it would be perfect to keep with me on future trips. I really like to keep it in my bag and use it when I have some time as a bit of a fidget toy.
This is a quality product. I bought it train to for climbing. My grade is 6A (french) and I chose the Extra Heavy exerciser which I'm happy with. I use the beast maker app (£1.99 and also good value) to set training sessions at the 6A level and the extra heavy exerciser is tough. I can't finish the exercises at present (I'm on day 2 of training) I get about half way through. But that's the idea of training, this will give me plenty of room for progression whereas one of the easier exercisers would probably have been too easy. I'm also out of shape from not climbing for 2 months. Hope that helps. M
What kills this product is bad ergonomics. The base (that presses against your palm/thumb) is very narrow and sharp. So, long before your forearm/fingers get tired from compression, you develop pain in your palm from the base plate of the grip master digging into the root of the thumb and palm, damaging underlying tissue. Had the manufacturer made the base twice as thick and more rounded (like a pistol grip) it would have been fantastic. The secondary pain comes from the base being too short. It does not extend to the end of the palm where nice beefy tissues are, instead it ends in the bonny spot in the middle again causing great discomfort.
I bought the red one and the black one and the red one really never got any use. The black tension isn’t so insanely high that there would ever been any reason for most people to not just use the black one. I’d recommend you buy the black one first, star with low reps, then move up from there. If for some reason you really can’t close the black one even once, then obviously scale down to the medium tension (red).
