The item is legit. All inclusions in the description are complete. although the spoon doesn't look that sturdy, but i believe it is very handy. The Lid is plastic (with rubber on the edge) so you cannot use it while you're cooking, and it is well-defined in the manual (yes, this item is manual inclusive). There is also an additional bag where you can put your stove, lighter, and cleaning utensil. to wrap things up this is a really good deal.

Used this from a casual weekend of car camping, to back country Canada camping, to backpacking in South America for several months. Just used it again last weekend and still great. I agree with the others about the sporks, they're whatever but I just use chopsticks (lightweight, versatile, don't scratch!). The set is about being lightweight, great for cooking, and portability of bowls. Awesome on all fronts.

This cookset is great; it's lightweight, nests in on itself, has a bowl and a "cup" each for 2 people, and can be arranged such that it stores a 100g gas container and a pocket rocket-style stove inside. Alternatively, you can shoehorn 10 packages of that near-instant oatmeal into the cup/bowl stacked combinations (5 per cup/bowl) if you're going to be out for a few days. Everything seems sturdy enough considering the weight; while I wouldn't recommend trying to beat back a bear with it, it's sturdy enough that I haven't run into any issues in the 4 months of use thus far.The only real downside I've noted to this set is the sporks. They're terrible. They're flimsy when used for their intended purpose, yet surprisingly sturdy when jabbing into your supple flesh ... MoreThis cookset is great; it's lightweight, nests in on itself, has a bowl and a "cup" each for 2 people, and can be arranged such that it stores a 100g gas container and a pocket rocket-style stove inside. I just picked up a pair of titanium sporks which work wonderfully, and which I highly recommend, as you can then tell people that you own titanium sporks.

Excellent set
9 July 2018

This is an awesome cookset. It has all you really need and is capable of holding much more to save space. I keep my stove (MSR Pocket Rocket), support legs for the fuel cylinder, coffee filter, trash bags, dish cloth, spice shaker, soap, and a folding sink inside this set so it basically holds my entire kitchen minus the fuel. The shape of the cups take a bit of getting used to but it's nice that they're insulated and have measurements. The sporks are fine for most typical backcountry meals. The pot is durable given its weight and pours easily without spilling. Although the protective liner is rubberized on the inside, I don't find it practical to use it as a sink as GSI suggests so I keep a larger folding sink inside the set. One complaint I do have is with the handle assembly. The bolts do not seem that sturdy and if you fill the pot above the bolts it will leak. The coating on the handle will also melt a bit close to the pot, but nothing that makes it a hazard to use. Despite my minor grievance with the handle, my set has held up after 8 years of use.

Great compact cookset
15 January 2015

I have owned and used this set for eight years doing mostly back-country multi-day trips. I bought it mainly for its compactness, lightweight and large volume pot (1.8L) for two people. I mostly use dehydrated food on longer trips to save weight, so its nice to have the right amount of hot water for two drinks and two meals in the bags.I was pleased to discover that the rest of the set is also great and very useful, except the sporks. The two cups and two bowls do the job well. They have a nice capacity and the cup lids work. The neoprene sleeves are also a nice addition.I like that the MSR SuperFly stove and a gas canister fit inside the cookset. The pot handle folds and locks on top and keeps everything secure, which is a nice feature. It could be used to get extra water out of a stream or even to eat out of... (multiple functions=better)As mentioned by other reviewers, the sporks suck bad. I broke them both in the first few trips and remember drawing blood too. Bring backup utensils or better don't bring them and replace them before leaving. Even the cheap plastic MEC sporks are better, cut them to length if you want them to fit inside the pot, or go with metal.Overall, I find that this cookset met my expectations for its lightweight, durability and compactness. Despite the sporks, this kit still deserve the five stars. I would recommend it for trips where weight and space are important.

Great pot after over 10 yrs
27 August 2022

Writing this review after 10+ years. Was just looking through MECs website and saw this pot set and figured may as well finally write a review as it has been our tried and true over the years. The pot itself is perfect. Love the pasta draining system with the lid. The bowls and "mugs" have worked out fine. When I bought it many yrs ago it did not come with the utensils so I cannot comment on those. Great set.

Perfect for backpacking
29 December 2016

I've owned this stove for some time now. Used it on multiple trips and lended it to a few friends over the years. All have loved it as well. Great for multi day use, as it's compact, light and large enough for two. Has stood up to the test of time - approx 6 yearsThe nesting bowls/cups are handy. The metal is durable and boils quickly. I use the MSR pocket rocket and have had the handle set on fire a couple times due to placement. May be operator error more than a design flaw, but just watch where you place the pot.I also was never a fan of the sporks that come with it, and tend to use others. But it's a small portion of the set and don't think it should hold you back from purchasing it, for all of it positives.

Teflon isn't very durable
29 July 2022

Used this pot set on one bikepacking overnighter and was disappointed to see the teflon coating on the pot wore out on the bottom of the pot. I can only assume it is from the bowl and lids moving around inside the pot, which causes the finish to come off very quickly. Disappointing to see this happen so quickly. If you are going to use for bikepacking or other activity involving bumps, make sure to put something between the bowls and the pot to prevent them from rubbing off the finish. GSI will not warranty this if it happens to you, which is disappointing.

[Rewarded Review] Great cookset
25 April 2018

Needed to expand the backpacking cookwear to include the wife and this set is perfect. Where in the past I had relegated myself to a solitary life of Pop Tarts and Rice sides in my tiny Snow Peak cup, I can now delight in the joy that is my wife’s cooking. The set nests together perfectly making it perfect for backpacking, and the versatility of the bowls/ cups is killer. I opted to buy a Caldera Cone set go with this pot and it fits perfectly. The included sporks are not great and will impale your finger when you try to close them, but not a deal breaker.
