The slide on cover is great for camping trips. We don’t have to try wrapping one of the kitchen knives and packing it. It’s heavier than I thought it would be however.
I've had the MSR Alpine Chef's Knife in my kit for a few years now, and thought I'd try something a little different. You just can't get a cheap, lightweight knife with good steel, so keep in mind this won't be slicing your tomatoes paper-thin even brand new, or recently sharpened. But I'm happy to compromise backcountry. Prefer this slightly to the MSR due to it's size and feel, though if you have large/thick fingers you may be better off with something with more room under the handle.
The blade is thin. It cuts straight. The size is compact, but not small. The blade feels well mounted into the handle, not like my other ex favourite santoku knife. The handle isn’t looking great, but feels right. All in all this is my new favourite knife indeed! And I didn’t take it to any trip yet, which I’m going to do for sure!
Perfect knife for camping. Make cooking much easier than with a pocket knife. Seems to be waterproof.
We are happy to find a camping knife with protective sheath. It is sharp enough for cutting food fior camping.
The protective blade sheath is practical and fits snuggly. It will not come off by itself in your pack. The rubber handle has a comfortable non-slip feel. The blade is sharp and slices food with ease. When slicing, the knuckles of the hand holding the knife have sufficient space and do not hit the cutting board. This knife is overall better than my everyday kitchen knives that were more expensive.
Great knife and sheath. Seems solid, time will tell how much sharpening the steel requires. I wish they would state the hardness… but I guess if its for occasional camping it doesn’t matter much. Price was right.
