I continued to use the oil recommended on the service sticker but found that the motor was using approximately one litre of oil every thousand kilometers. After some research I changed the brand to Gulf Western Top Dog XDO engine oil. I change the engine oil and filter on all of my three vehicles every five thousand kilometers. Since changing to Gulf Western I have driven twenty five thousand kilometers without using any oil between oil changes. In my opinion this is a testimony that the Gulf Western Top Dog XDO oil is a quality product.

I have been using Great Western oils for about 5 years now. Use their Top Dog diesel oil in my 200 series which is changed ar 5000km intervals but have gone to 10000km when travelling and not able to get the oil or have somewhere to do my service. Maintains pressure under heavy loads and higher temps. I tow a 3tonne van so my engine is always working pretty hard.Also use Great Western synthetic oil in two road motorcycles, a Goldwing 1800 and a Cagiva Raptor 1000. Again, can't fault this oil.From my perspective, Gulf Western Oils are excellent value for money and it is made in Australia. Can't get much beeter than that.

Having been using this in my 100 series cruiser for a couple of years (since I found out it's what my local mechanic was using). Always had great results, oil is always still in good condition at the end of the service period. One of the best value oils on the market in my opinion. Meets all the specs of much more expensive oils, at a better price.
For the price this is a good Australian Made Oil.It is recognized as being an official factory fill lubricant for some big names in the trucking industry world wide.This was enough for me to purchase and use it in my F250 7.3 lt Diesel.I was always a Castrol Oil Person, but after BP bought Castrol out, it seemed the price of their olis started to rise.So I started to look around for a equivalent or better engine oils.I'm also using a high temp Gulf Western Syn Oil in my tricked-up automatic gearbox as I tow a 3.6 tonne purpose built 20 foot off road caravan to remote parts of Australia.If your not sure which Gulf Western Oil is right for your vehicle, give the Tech Guys a ring just like I did...
Been using this oil in my 2016 ISUZU D'MAX and MOTORCYCLES - ( WET CLUTCH ) for years . 4X4 and Motorcycles run great . Motorcycles run smooth , no clutch slip , smooth gear changes , i always change my bike oil every 5000 klms 12 - months , and it still seems fine . Used it in a YAMAHA XJR1300, YAMAHA XVS V-STAR 650 , SUZUKI VSTROM 650 , BMW K75 - ( NO WET CLUTCH IN BMW ) , all bikes run great , super smooth gear changes in wet clutch bikes , no clutch slip.I refuse to be ripped off by buying SO CALLED PROPER MOTORCYCLE OIL , when there are many alternatives at a 1/4 of the price . Stock up and purchase from Number 1 - SUPERCHEAP AUTO when on sale .
The sign of a good engine oil is when it keeps performing under tough conditions. I was running Top Dog XDO 15W-40 for a full year and 2000km in my 4.0L turbo diesel. Lots of short trips which means the chance of engine wear is higher and the oil is working harder. I sent an oil test sample off for analysis at the next service interval. The results showed the bad news that a leaking fuel pump had caused a massive fuel dilution of over 10% and the oil viscosity had been reduced to 8.9 cST at 100C (down from 15.7 cST when new). It was an existing mechanical issue that I didn't know about until now. Surprisingly though, the wear metals were all at rock-bottom levels below 5ppm across the board. For those curious, the additive readings of my used oil were Phosphorus = 698ppm, Calcium = 2660ppm and Zinc = 843ppm. Considering that Top Dog XDO is also one of the more affordable turbo diesel engine oils available, there's plenty of concrete reasons why I can highly recommend this oil. Gulf Western Oil is a fair dinkum Australian brand and they made a top notch product.
A very good oil which I use every 7500km for my Hilux servicing. It can be hard to find at a decent price and I usually shop around to see when it is on special. I found it here at Autobarn on special so bought 2 drums at what seemed like a good price, only to go instore 10 days later and find that they had it again on special at $10 per drum less than what I paid on the online special. They sales person said as the transaction had already gone through they couldnt give me a refund to buy the other cheaper oil. The oil is a 5 star oil, but have given less for Autobarns misleading "sale' prices
I first purchased this oil quite some time ago when it first hit the shelves. I have a Nissan Navara D40 Diesel that had the manufacturers recommendation to use synthetic oil. The synthetic oil tended to get tired around the 12000 km mark. I am a great believer in using mineral oil in diesel machinery to increase reliability and less engine noise. This oil, as expected performed brilliantly and at 20000 km's on each service, the oil still had some decent viscocity left in it. The engine performs better and has a lot less noise than when using synthetic oils. I now also use it in my Mustang Skid Steer loader and it performs brilliantly. I love it and will continue to use it
Fantastic oil - works a treat in my 2.8 Hilux. Good size pack and good value. Definitely buy a funnel but as they are hard to pour from the 10litre tub.
