Gum Expanding Floss 2030

I used to trust the GUM brand—especially their dental picks—until now. I have very tight teeth and they destroyed this floss, shredding and breaking it into difficult to remove pieces. In fact, I have to use a different floss and tweezers to work out shreds of floss that became horribly wedged in between a molar and a dental implant. I suppose it could be user-error, but for a floss addict like me, I doubt it. Anyone else have this problem?

Best floss EVER! It does the job.

When I started using this identical product over the last 12 years it was great. Lots of expanded fluff that really worked. Sadly the rolls became very inconsistent ...going from barely "meh" to nothing at all. Seemed there was too much coating on the floss which didn't allow the floss to expand with saliva. HOWEVER.... I used the first of the six spools this week from YOU-- and it's back to its old super effective quality. Hopefully, the other five will be the same.....which tells me Sunstar/GUM mfgr. got its quality control back on track. This product is great and I'll order it again from you!

Great stuff! It cleans well and is strong. Great for getting under bridges, but also as a general cleaner. Cleans better than regular floss. I like to wash off the coating with hot water before using it so that it fluffs out and cleans better. The coating makes the floss too slippery to stay on your fingers, and when it is fluffy it goes between the teeth just as well as when coated. As good as what OralB used to make, and about the same as Hayden brand, except less expensive.

Expanding floss

I have been using the expanding floss for about five years - got samples from my dentist and I loved it. I am very chemically and odor sensitive so I was so happy there was no smell or taste to (especially mint). I just ordered 9 more in September and I always ask for not to send any to me that have even been stored next to a mint product. They came and the outer packaging smelled very minty and when I took them out of the outer packaging, the container and the actual floss smelled minty and I tried to use it and it tastes minty. I have called the 800 number a few times to find out if they have changed anything in it, and i was told no. I cannot use them, am very disappointed and now have to keep searching once again for unflavored, mint free floss.

Great for tightly spaced teeth!

Please don’t take this floss away. I have very tightly-spaced teeth, and this is the only floss that easily gets between my teeth (without wax) AND effectively cleans under the gumline. For decades I used GUM extra fine unwaxed dental floss. It was GREAT!!! AND it was the ONLY extra-fine, unwaxed dental floss that I could find. But then it was discontinued sometime in 2004/2005. After some experipmenting I found Oral B Ultra Floss, also an expanding floss with alternating areas of conventional unwaxed fine/extra-fine floss. I liked the addition of the expanding floss. I saw many recommendations for Glide. Tried it. Hated it. Please don’t stop making this. Also, please bring back the extra-fine unwaxed dental floss.

Great technology involved in this floss!

A periodontal hygienist recommended I try this and it works great! I have tight contacts and some recession so this works great for those of us who have some spaces starting between our teeth. The floss goes easily between the tight contacts and expands as you use it.

Love this floss!

I received a sample long ago fgrom my dentist and finally found it again. It does a good job removing more plaque expecially from between bottom of two centre teeth where it seems to gather more. It also is great in the other teeth. I use it only for the bottom as some of my top teeth are rather tight. I like the unflavoured version as well.

The best floss ever, bar none.

I’ve received this floss as samples from my dental office and it’s so good. It makes flossing pleasurable, and for someone like me who avoids flossing at all costs, is saying something. Obtaining it in Canada is difficult as Am**on charges 8x what this site does and although I can afford it I refuse to justify it. Hoping this floss becomes available via more traditional retailers.

Very Good Replacement

As a former dental hygienist I have been recommending and using the Listerine woven floss for many, many years. It was very effective in removing plaque more so than waxed flosses like Glide. As this floss is no longer available I found this product on the web and liked the fact that it expanded into “woven“ floss when used interdentally. I was happy to find the claims were true and am happy to have found this. I will also recommend this to others.

not a strong cleaning floss and no weave floss, either

I tried this floss for a month before giving up and going back to the last bit of Reach woven floss I had. I hoped this would be a close substitute for the great woven floss, but was very disappointed. It is very thin to begin with, but when it gets wet, it expands. Though the floss never broke, the fact that is spreads apart when wet doesn't make it stronger, it is just less effective because you have a thin string now widened with water. Water won't remove plaque etc. If you are thinking of trying this, get your dentist or buy a sample. I bought two big ones. I ended up going back to the thick ortho flossers, the individual strips of wide fabric, closest to woven. Butler is a good name, and the soft toothbrushes are still tops. Mind you, my teeth are close together, but floss needs to be strong and gripping, not wet and flimsy.
