I have only used Guttermann cotton for 30 years because to me it was the best for thickness and for its smoothness. I normally purchase cotton 800m reels not polyester. I am disappointed because the thickness has definitely changed on the cotton and also in places it isn't as smooth. Have you changed where or how you make this? Do not feel the product is as good as it was in the past so have changed to polyester I use a lot as I make quilts, dolls and bears for resale. When you pay premium amount you expect the best.

I love this thread and have always been able to order online by number of the thread color. The colors were always consistent. I ordered two rolls of 410 which is a scarlet red color. The color received was a orange red but marked with the same number. Very disappointed.

Gutermann 100% polyester Sew-All thread is the best sewing machine thread I've found. It doesn't fluff-up and cause lint, but stays tightly twisted and consistent in thickness. So it's easy to thread through needles and runs through the machine smoothly as well. I still regularly wear stretch garments that were made 15 years ago, and this thread has remained strong and flexible enough to cope with the stretch fabric (using my favourite triple zig-zag stitch). The colour hasn't faded either, which is apparent when the fabrics have (!), and Gutermann have an incredible choice of rich and subtle colours to choose from. I am thinking of trying Gutermann's 100% recycled polyester Sew-All next, but so far I haven't found a sewing machine thread that was better.

You can't beat Gutermann thread. The quality of the thread is superb and I would use only this on a garment I have taken the time to make. Some cottons are obviously of poorer quality, splitting and with lengths which are bitty, but I have never found this with Guttermanns. There is also a fabulous choice of colours, this one matched the material I was using perfectly.
I have preferred Gutermann Sewing Thread for some time and have found it one of the best, if not the best brand to use. I have less snarls and missed stitches with this brand. It has proven to be a strong thread and my sewing is secure. This is important because I make and sew ballet shoes. The color range is terrific and it makes me feel good using a recycled polyester product. I definitely recommend it.
This thread is great. My machine is very sensitive with threads, and this one works like a charm. It’s fairly priced, great quality, and I love the wide selection of colors.
I was recommended Gutermann Sew-All for a satin dress I am sewing. The teal color matched my fabric perfectly, so I decided to use it. I have a vintage sewing machine, and the fabric is lightweight.I have never had problems with thread breaking in my machine before. First, I bought a spool and I could barely go 3 feet before the thread broke. I was able to easily break the thread with my bare hands.... I thought it was a rotten spool, so I bought two more spools from another location. Again, the thread broke after a few feet. I have tried with cotton and polyester fabric, thinking it was my machine... and still the thread breaks.I'll be sticking to my regular brand, which works fine... even if the color is a little off.
I spent a hour selecting thread to match the fabric I’ve purchased from you only to have it deleted and the app frozen.This is the second time this has happened. Last time I replaced my order and ended up only getting half of what I needed.There must be a solution.
I found what I was looking for, however the numbers of the cottons were not in a logical order and it took me ages to find the number I was looking for. When I mentioned it to a staff member she said they also find it a problem, when refilling the stock. The sensible solution would be for someone to take time to organise the cottons in order, don't you think!
i love gutermann thread, its versatile, works well and the color range is immaculate. i also find that the narrow spools work better on my vintage sewing machine then the normal spools. the price is GREAT for what you get, especially when the sales roll around. :)
