Best thread that I have tried!
I try to only use gutermann thread when making items to sell as it is some of the best thread I have tried. I have not had any problems with it breaking or becoming fuzzy like other brands that I have tried. The only complaint I have about this thread is that sometimes the white thread is all sold out when I go to buy more! I definitely recommend this thread!... Show more

Dirty
This is the 2nd time that I have ordered thread online from Joanns, and it's been dirty. Not just a little bit, A LOT! Also, I could see that the thread had been hand wound. I guess it's a way that they can unload their bad stock to the customers instead of damaging it out. It's kinda like going through the drive-through. You usually get stale cold fries, etc. Don't send dirty, damaged goods to the online customers just because you don't have to face them. I work on wedding gowns and need clean thread.... Show more

Excellent thread, terrible packaging for shipping
Excellent thread. I've been using this brand for over 30 years. However Joann's shipping is hideous. The thread is carelessly thrown into a mailing envelope which causes the thread to arrives all tangled. Looking at other reviews this seems to be a common issue with Joann's that they just don't seem to want to take care of. I can't directly notify Joanne's of what happened because there's no mechanism for that. Don't know that I'll be ordering online again. I'd rather spend my time selling than detangling brand new thread.... Show more

Expensive and it breaks
I went in to get extra strong thread for hand sewing a repair to leather. Couldn't find anything called extra strong in the store. However the "upholstery" thread has the same ean or code number so the assistant said it was the same stuff. Did 4 stitches by hand pulled tight. Thread broke. So definitely not extra strong and at $17 a reel I might as well have brought ordinary thread.... Show more

Fabulous Fabric!! Navy Scallop-Edged Re-embroidered Lace
My daughter couldn't find a dress for her 8th grade formal. I found a beautiful fabric on Mood Fabrics. However, I couldn't see the finished edging on both sides of the fabric, which was key for this project. I contacted the customer service department and was connect with Dawn. She was fabulous! She was able to contact the warehouse and obtain photos of the fabric within a few hours, so that I was able to calculate the correct amount of fabric to purchase. She was also able to expedite the shipping for me. And if that wasn't enough, the listing for the fabric already had the links to the matching thread and zipper that I needed!! How amazing is that?? Luxurious fabric inside and out.
Great weight to work with. Gorgeous color. Ironed beautifully. Fabric had wonderful body and for extra support I used a light weight interfacing.. Bodice was 1 yard and 6 yards for the skirt. Boning worked beautifully in the bodice on all seams including the bust of which the Burda pattern did not call for. Lined the garment with the stretch silk charmeuse lightly interfaced for extra support to the bodice. Fit like a glove and felt luxurious inside and out. I loved that the silk was a slightly different shade than the taffeta. Made it interesting and they complimented each other.Thread was not as strong as expected. Kept twisting while hand stitching. Nice color match.... Show more

Poor Packaging but Great Product
The thread itself is 5 stars, but the packaging is horrible. This is at least the third time I’ve ordered thread and opened the bag or box to find a giant bird nest of unraveled thread. I wound what I could but had to cut a lot to salvage. Joann needs to do better in this area.... Show more

Ray of Sunshine
Bought this thread in the shade Goldenrod for use with tulle fabric. It's the perfect marigold shade. Sews very easily with minimal snapping/breakage (and that's probably more to do with my skill level vs the thread itself). Purchased twice - once via shipping to my house and the other online/pick up in store. Great experience both times. Will buy again.... Show more

Threads do matter
I always thought thread was thread, however in my advanced age I am finding that there is a lot of difference in threads. Especially when it comes to threading the sewing machine. Seems like the higher the quality the easier it is to thread not to mention that the quality of my stitches has improved. My seams are a lot smoother and consistent. Who knew.... Show more

X-Rated pants begone!
My beloved fella had unfortunately ripped his work pants right up the crotch, giving his poor colleagues a view they really didn’t need to see. Being the self sufficient, modern man he is, he had a bash at sewing them up himself resulting in much swearing, needlestick injury and somehow sewing his pants to my current knitting project. Nevertheless, he persisted and proudly set off the next morning with no draughty drawers.Sadly, the stitching did not persist and yet again his under crackers were on display to all and sundry. Climbing ladders became even more of a danger to both his safety and dignity. It seemed inevitable that his pants were consigned to the bin. However! All was not lost. On a recent trip to Hobbycraft I spotted this super strong thread. Could this be the answer? Could I succeed where he had failed? Could his nether regions be finally protected and safe from the elements and the horrified gaze of the general public?Reader, yes. So far they have survived Storms Ciara and Dennis, and a catastrophic Cabinet reshuffle with not even a glimmer of daylight visible. He’s delighted. I’m delighted. All is well with the universe....
