I am not a whiskey drinker as a rule - even opening a bottle the smell gives me instant stomach acid.I was more than surprised however when I sampled this - a lovely smell and a really enjoyable, pleasant taste.I was going to leave this bottle and use it for guests over the Christmas holidays but it is so nice that I very much doubt that there will be any left by then. I will be buying another one for visitors and getting a spare or two for the odd nip.I love the look of the bottle, it is a marked difference from other bottles of whisky on the market.Full disclosure: I was given this bottle as a sample from Haig Clubman in return for my honest review (positive or negative). I stand by this review as honest and truthful.

We are whisky fans in our house, but sometimes we want an 'easy drinking' whisky for a little glass of something in the evening. This ticks all the boxes - not too pricey, smooth taste with lovely sweetness when mixed with water, and no bitterness / astringency (or peaty flavour which I'm not a fan of). Plus it comes in a beautiful blue glass bottle which looks lovely on the shelf! I'd recommend to anyone looking for an easy drinking whisky, or trying whisky for the first time.

This is the worst "scotch" I have ever tasted. I kept drinking it (it was a gift) out of respect for the person who gave it to me. I hoped my opinion of it would improve as I pushed on, but it didn't. Smells like paint thinner. Tastes like paint thinner.It is labeled as "single grain" and not "single malt". I'm not sure what that means, but in hindsight I think its a bad sign. It says it is "aged in toasted oak casks" but doesn't say for how long. Another bad sign.If David Beckham put his name on this, well then that guy has never drank scotch before.

Lovely Subtle vanilla sweetness combined with a smooth & smokey finish. Perfect as a sipper on it’s own or mixed in a variety of cocktails. The versatility of it is really excellent. I drink mine neat or in an old fashioned, a whisky sour or mixed with premium ginger ale. Go on a s try Haig Clubman. You won’t regret it. ASDA; I’d really appreciate a second bottle for free from you guys.
I consider myself to be an amateur whisky connoisseur having savoured many different malts, from Scotland, Wales, England, India, Japan and Taiwan. Before I continue just remember that a review is down to individual taste but can be a good guide. What tastes nice one week might taste completely different the next. Now as far as Haighs single grain whisky is concerned I must admit I was pleasantly surprised after receiving a bottle at Christmas and I have occasionally bought it since. BUT there's no way on earth that can justify a £45 price tag, not when you can buy so many good malts for a lot less.It has won a few design awards but you don't drink the carton or bottle.So if you've got £45 to spend try a decent malt.
After receiving our free bottle from Haig Club, we found this is not your usual malt whisky that you'd expect from Haig. This is a fresh and new product which is distinctly different to anything we've had before and we're not disappointed. Sufficient enough to suit those who are looking for strength in their whisky, although it's quite pale in colour there's a lightness and purity to it with a hint of vanilla taste and aroma. Goes very well with cola or coffee or as a cocktail mixer and is also nice to drink neat on the rocks. Absolutely love the bottle design which looks beautiful and presentable and feels heavy and substantial, an ideal gift for someone special. We would consider buying this product again in the future and would recommend it to others.
My girlfriend bought this for me as a gift b/c she knew I like David Beckham & wanted to give this a try...Well, I drank almost half the bottle within a few hours of opening it I liked it so much... and I’m not a huge drinker.It’s super smooth, has absolutely beautiful flavors and without the harshness of a malt whiskey.My preferred whiskey is Bourbon... but I’d drink this any day if the week, I love it. Unfortunately for me, it’s super hard to find in the US... the store I used to get it from stopped carrying it.
After over 20 years of tastings, I stumbled onto a bottle of this. I got a sample of it and was going to decline to purchase, because it was terrible. When I learned it was on sale for $20, I thought, "Why not? If nothing else, it will be an experience, and you've got to try the bad to appreciate the good." I then rolled it out among my friends at a tasting, and it was ridiculed as the worst we've had in those 20 years, with the constant joke that it was a bottling from David Beckham's sweaty balls after a game. It is single grain, and is lacking in nose, flavor, complexity and finish. In their place is lots of BURN, so if that's what you want, you're in the right place. For $20, a tasting experience. For $50? A more expensive experience . . .
Even though its 40% it's very thin tasting and very light in colour. I'm not a fan of this at all. I'll stick to the Jack Daniels straight rye whisky (45%). The JD is more expensive, but definitely worth it.
I bought this on sale at about $23.00. Actually, the salesman said he didn't like it because it didn't have a lot of flavor to him and seemed to appeal to vodka drinkers. I like all kinds of drinks. and the online reviews i found seemed to be 5 stars or 1 star. So it was a good price and I bought it to try. I REALLY LIKE IT. But I can see how it would basically appeal to a scotch and water drinker. With water (soda or still mineral) and ice, you get a little lemon, maybe banana?, orange, coconut. I am thinking the 1 star people think it is too fruity. I did NOT think it had a 'burn' straight up, but the fruit flavors were a bit concentrated. But it is great with water, and smooth. I probably would not buy above, say $30. If you find it on sale, grab it.
