Hamilton Khaki Field Murph Watch, 38mm - Black

Excellent watch - its stylish simplicity, its weight balance, its quality are very good. Strap is a bit of a problem - while it looks good together with the watch, it is uncomfortable even after one month of a daily wear. Specifically - on a smaller "bonier" wrist it digs into the skin/bones. I am shopping for alternatives that would be more comfortable and yet match the Murph style. I do wear other watches with leather straps and metal bracelets without discomfort, there is some incompatibility between my wrist and the Hamilton strap.

This is a beautiful watch. The size is perfect, looks great, and feels like a quality build. The only things I would change about it are that I would like the strap to be a little more supple, and some kind of anti glare coating on the the crystal would help. This watch has a lot of bang for your buck.

Main reason for two stars is that shortly after I put the watch on my wrist the day it arrived, it quit! No idea what happened, it just stopped working. Another small issue is the size of the strap. I have a 7 3/4 wrist, and the strap barely made the first retainer loop. Beautiful watch! Beautiful strap! I sent it back. They gave me a refund. No questions asked. No explanations.

Murph Magic

Hamilton Khaki Murph is an iconic watch. Great value in watchmaking for the money. The 38mm is the perfect size for this model. Mine arrived very fast, in perfect condition. Very happy with the watch and purchase experience from Macy’s.

Perfect Present

Bought this for a graduation present. Did a lot of research beforehand but would have liked to have been able to see it first hand before buying it but it wasn't available in any stores in Melbourne.Fortunately, my son really likes the watch and it met our expectations. However, the strap is a little too long for his 6.5 inch wrist. Easy fix. I can see it being his daily wear and lasting many years.

Finally bought the 38mm murph after my wife commandeered my Sinn 556A.Swapped out the strap to a Zuludiver sailcloth and haven’t taken it off since.38mm case ,sapphire crystal, eta base movement plus 100 metres water resistance and well below retail price at FCW.Running at -2 seconds per day on the wrist so far better than the quoted +/- 15 seconds by Hamilton.If you are in the market for a nice quality field watch you could do a lot worse than this.Oh…and a film star to boot !

Saw the 38mm Murph on Christmas eve. Wow. Mulled over it on Christmas Day - should I or should I not buy it? Gave way to temptation...ordered it on Boxing Day as a New Years present...for myself!!!!. Arrived a couple of days later - all in discreet packaging. Great service. Great watch, just right size for my wrist, lovely dials and hand shapes which are timeless. So, can wear it with formal wear and less formal wear. Strap eases into shape after a couple of days (a bit of neutral shoe cream helps to soften it). Great price also. That's the second Hamilton now. Was thinking of a Ventura at some stage this year (or a dive watch!). Will come back to First Class Watches first for that of course as they offer great price, and great service.

Review of Khaki Field Murph 38mm Automatic Watch

Stunning watch. I like the smaller size compared to the 42mm because of my slim wrist (6.25") and this sits perfectly on me. It arrived in a lovely wooden box with all papers. I bought 2 extra straps, the black leather strap that arrived with it is nice but i wanted to dress it down a little to an everyday watch for me. Swapped the strap out for a green Nato and looks amazing. The loom is long-lasting, the open back is amazing and I am very happy with this purchase. Recommended as an excellent everyday automatic watch.
