Very happy with this battery box. I've had a few and this is definatley one of best.Strong sturdy design. Well made and great attention to detail with the lay out both inside and out.Only modification I can suggest is the isolation switch needs to be recessed similar to the anderson plugs. Special care needs to be taken when transporting and onsite to ensure the isolation switch is not damaged.Other than that. Great product. Keep up the good work.

Very happy with the build and dimensions of this battery box which I wanted for a project. My 120Ah AGM fits, at an angle. It is sturdy enough to carry the heavy battery.I mounted a Redarc DCDC charger and an AC charger onto the top, removed the 175A jumper Anderson plug/circuit and installed mesh ventilation. Swapped one of the cigarette sockets to another paired double USB charger, increased the remaining 4 Anderson plug cable sizes and added MIDI fuses. Installed a Victron connect with bluetooth for accurate remote battery monitoring. Now it is a portable 2nd battery system with DC/Solar/AC charging and bluetooth monitoring I can swap between cars......

One of the workers at a Jaycar store actually commented on how impressed they were with the finish quality under the lid.I use this with the VSR kit which was super easy to install. I'm very happy with this battery box. I've got a 120ah lithium in it connected to my alternator for charging using the built in VSR. It works just as it's should. It cuts in very shortly after I start my ute and cuts out at 12.7v. You do have to make sure that the battery box switch is in the on position for it to charge which isn't a problem as long as you are aware of it. As the display lights up from your car battery even in the off position it is NOT charging your second battery unless the switch is on. I didn't pick up on this until the second day ( not too smart ). I use the 175amp Anderson plug output for my 1500watt inverter which works great. I have already shown a couple of friends who will now be getting them as well.

Just got one recently off ebay delivery took a while due to the "coff". Great build quality. Tough as nails upgraded from a $70 peice of rubbish. On off switch protrudes a little but no big drama. I use a seperate watt meter for accurate charge status. I now want to add a dcdc charger as I also have a lithium battery now. Any comments on how to best add it?

Bought the black battery box & seperately a 130 a/h agm battery. Got home, quickly & easily fitted the battery with the provided strap, connected the battery to the battery box (easy & the wiring in the battery box lid looks to be more than adequate for the rated output). Screwed the battery box lid on & was ready to charge the battery with my century 12amp, 12 volt battery charger after selecting the correct battery type & charge rate. The battery level & volt meter is very useful, most of my use for the battery & battery box will be to power amateur radio transceivers which can easily draw 23 plus amps, this battery box is the only one I've found that looks to be sturdy enough for the job and its ability to run 4 appliances from the 50 amp plugs plus having 2 USB ... MoreBought the black battery box & seperately a 130 a/h agm battery. Great battery box sturdy and well laid out

This probably the best all round battery box you can get. Great start if you want to customise it. The only negative i have is the 2x cigerette style 12v outlets the backing pushed right through after the first weekend. Easily replaced with better quality ones. Anderson plugs are much better than those style outlets anyway

The box was recommended by the auto electrician doing the dual battery install. It is strong and has plenty of Anderson connections and outputs. As advertised as 120 AGM fits but is put in sideways and at that point is secure. The interior fittings are strong and well made. I would have given it a 5 star if the 120 AGM fitted perfectly but otherwise its a very good piece of kit.

Great design with a robust outer shellI used this to house my Lithium battery and added a dc-dc charger so i can charge while I drive or use my folding solar panel when campingI also bought the optional battery Tray made by Hard Korr that mounts in my Ute trayVery happy with both products and the battery box is way better than the cheaper ones

Using the HardKorr Battery Box with LifePO4

This is the best option for a battery box presently on the market unless you build your own. The construction is solid and the screw on top makes it solid once its setup. The battery level gauge it comes with is basic and it would be ideal to update this to a model that is settable with adjustable voltages plus a low voltage alarm and for chemistries like Lithium ION.I used a drill and file to cut out a hole in the top and added my own Meter (see Photos). Directly connect it to the always on wires in the battery lid or else the meter will forget your setting after a while and set the meer to turn off automatically after 120 seconds. Google for a suitable item like JS-C33 pro (english version).I then added a 600/1200 pure sine wave inverter that fitted across the ... MoreThis is the best option for a battery box presently on the market unless you build your own. Directly connect it to the always on wires in the battery lid or else the meter will forget your setting after a while and set the meer to turn off automatically after 120 seconds. Google for a suitable item like JS-C33 pro (english version).I then added a 600/1200 pure sine wave inverter that fitted across the top perfectly (see Photos)and wired this so it goes off when the master switch is turned off but not on the same circuit as the auto circuit breakers and 12v outlets. That took a bit of time to connect the wires to the very busy earth terminal block but worked out well. It would have been easy to connect straight to the battery but then removing the top would have meant juggling more wires sometime in the future and the potential to forget to connect one if swapping batteries.I put a 100ah lifePO4 battery into the unit so then decided the best way to charge the battery is via the Anderson plugs. I just have to remember to turn it on for this to happen. I did toy with the thought of adding an always live anderson plug but left it as it is for now. I changed the end of my Victon Charger cable so it just plugs in for the 240v charging.I have a 40amp DC/DC charger with solar input (needs at least 2amp input from panels to work) for the car and set that up separately to the battery box as it just adds weight. to what is a portable power supply. Maybe as time goes on I will change my mind but for now it works well.A stand alone solar charger with portable panels will probably just end up being a version that I can set the upper charge voltable. I will have to think of that high voltage setting as LifePO4 are fully charged at 14.4v but if it was set to 13.8v it wont matter as that is still 99% charged. As long as it doesn't have the desulphation or other clever features it will work OK as its not going to get used permanently.I did a test after setting this up and with a 100w load (8amp plus the inverter overheads so maybe 9amp) it ran for over 10 hours continuous. It cutout at 10.5v which is the inverter cuttoff. It held up voltage wise until the last hour so I'm very confident this will last us a long weekend if we arrive with a full battery and a cold fridge. I will take the solar but may not need it. Starting and running the car had it charging at 20amp but as the battery was almost full that was expected. Im sure it will charge at the full 40amp when it has less charge in it.Next time I think I will but LifePO4 cells and a BMS and do my own instead of a drop in battery but the price of the complete battery made it a cheaper option.Overall the Box is a great success. It is light and portable. Anytime I need 240v for low power devices or 12v this is easy to reach for. Its not suitable as jump starter as the BMS is rated up to 100amp but I can run a house fridge on it and it cycles great unless I disconnect and instantly reconnect it with the compressor loaded. It didn't like that but if I let it sit for 15 seconds it had no issues.I hope this review helps. LPN
