I love the quick connect set up but unfortunately the hose has a strong plastic taste so I've swapped it out with my old hose that easily connects to this setup. All I taste is fresh water now. I'm hoping the hose gets better with use.The straw goes practically down to the bottom of the bottle which basically picks up 97% of the water.Works very efficiently.

I bought these to level up my use of Nalgene bottles. I’m quite happy with hydration packs in my trail running packs but in my big multi day backpack I find them incredibly annoying to refill. The swig rig is really well made and after stashing my light weight Nalgene into my pack pocket I thread the hose up across and between the load lifters and harness behind me, down through a loop in the shoulder strap and then secure it on the other strap with the special backpack hose clip. This thing absolutely helps me to drink more and stay hydrated and there is absolutely NO yucky plastic taste. I also team this with a neoprene cover on my bottle and my water stays cold for hours. Worth every cent.

I recently walked part of the Bibbulmun track in WA and bought the swig rig to team up with a 1.5 litre nalgene - it absolutely changed my level of enjoyment and comfort on track. It’s super easy to assemble and fix to your pack, and it made staying hydrated effortless. No need to keep asking someone to pass you your drink bottle, pausing yours and someone else’s walking. Highly recommend! Here’s a pic of my sister and I on the walk with my orange hose swig rig by my side ☺️

Finally a product that gives drinking tube function to my Nalgene bottles. It works really well in most respects, except for the orange tube strength - mine squished under a hard case and didn’t return to shape. I’ve swapped it out for another tube I had in the cupboard and it’s all good again. Other than that all the fittings like quick release and drinking spout are really good. I’ll keep using it and still recommend it despite the tube issue.
This is a great product. I purchased one of these for an Alaskan hunt. It worked great and held up very well. My hunting partner had one as well . His did not have the quick disconnect coupler. I would suggest getting the quick disconnect coupler makes it really convenient to take the bottle off and fill it while leaving the hose attached to the shoulder harness. I ended up using again on a high mountain lake fishing trip with my boys. My boys were envious and really thought it was a great product. I ended up buying one for each of them for Christmas so that they could have one for their hunting and backpacking adventures. Excellent product and Well made. Thank you very much!!!
Great flow and comfortable mouth piece. I purchased this along with the 1.5L Nalgene bootle as I needed to double my water carry for a 6 day hike in the NT Outback, and I didn't want to squeeze a bladder in my already full 50L pack. My search led me to PAST Outdoors. The swig rig with nalgene bottle work perfectly for my needs. Easy to swap to my day pack and I keep the bottle in the fridge ready to go. Added bonus, the swig rig cap also fits my existing 1.5L Camelback bottle (you just need to adjust the straw height or get another straw if using with different size bottles).
Bought this to replace bladder during multi day hike where my pack was full and I was concerned about forcing a leak. Bought Nalgene bottle first, but soon tired of stopping every time I wanted a drink. Swig rig has performed well during multi day hikes as well as local walks. I switched out mouthpiece for the one I’ve been using with my bladder as I found the supplied one difficult to use. It can be fiddly to rinse and clean, but overall I’m very happy with it.
I purchased 2 of these with thoughts of replacing by Platypus Big Zip 2 and 3 liter bags. After using them for a few weeks here is what I found: 1) the ‘insulated’ drinking straw is insulated alright and the black color heats the water enough you could make coffee, 2) the mouth piece is much more restrictive than those in my Platypuses, and 3) when you use ice in the Nalgene bottles the difference of materials of the inner straw and the vent lid will cause the inner straw to shrink and, hence, fall off the vent lid. I cured these problems by rigging my Platypus drinking straw to the vent lid and then hot glued the inner straw to the vent lid. I don’t think I’d pitch this product again given the problems I’ve had, perhaps other’s experiences have been different. See ... I used my 1.5L Nalgene bottle and swig rig every day on a 30-day Italian walk. About the second week I started to get black dots on the inside of the bottle. About the third week I got a large black dot inside the tube that did not go away. I washed out the bottle and tubing every night but got mildew in both. Quite disappointed as I thought they were mildew resistant.
Top bit of kit. I run Nalgene's exclusively as they are easy to refill, tough and durable, and they remind everyone that I am an outdoorsman with my cult like sticker mods. The biggest issue is their wide mouth means they spill and are a little bit of a pain to get in and out of the pack due to their size (their size is also an advantage). The use of the swig rig fixes those issues. I can have the bottle I want, that is far superior to a camelback/bladder type water container, with the versatility of the long straw. Set up is easy, cleaning appears far simpler than camelback options, and replacement parts mean less wastage if things do fail in time to come. Highly recommend anyone who runs Nalgene bottles to have this bit of kit.
