Abit of a let down

So bought this pot after reading all the reviews but was quite dissapointed with the depth of the filter when I received it today.Tried to brew a 1:8 ratio with coarse grind but the filter is not deep enough to even soak the coffee beans into. Poured 800g of water and it barely soaks or touched the 100g of coffee beans.Ended up just taking out the filter and dumping the coffee ground straight into the pot. Pretty much just bought a 1L pitcher/pot really.

Absolutely delighted

In the lead up to summer this has been a discovery that definitely delights. The jug sitting in the fridge door overnight, 80gm medium coarse grind dark roast produces a smooth refreshing brew that lasts for a few days (or one day if we have guests!)Alternative Brewing delivered promptly and in perfect condition.Highly recommended.

I have tried other cold brew coffee pots including the Abosu one. The filter on this Hario pot is more fragile and needs to be hand washed. However, it makes excellent coffee, it’s easy to use, it’s easy to clean and it’s under $50 so I give it five stars. I will definitely try more cold brew pots from Hario in the future. I t also fits in the shelf of my fridge door which is very convenient. You may have to play with the amount of coffee and water you use but that’s always the case with cold brew pots. There’s recipes online that are easy to find. Don't grind the coffee too fine or it will seep through a coffee filter.I think this is a great product if you're interested in trying cold brew and want a budget friendly option.

Coffee grounds doesn't fully submerge
9 December 2022

Bought mine recently and was super excited but ended up being disappointed.Tried to do a concentrated brew with a ratio of 1:8. After grinding 100g of coarse coffee and pouring in 800ml of water, the beans are barely submerged into the water to percolate. The filter basket is not deep enough. Only possible if you do a 1:10 or 1:12 cold brew ratio and pouring 1litre plus of water. Ended up just pouring my coffee grind right into the jug.Filter basket only holds max about 100-120g of coffee

I was pretty disappointed .It brewed a fantastic cold brew but I think the glass is not very strong . So I would note rate the product very well.Sorry to say I won't be buying this product again .Regards chr is s

DAMN YOU ALL FOR RUINING MY LIFE WITH BRILLIANT FILTERED COFFEE!
6 March 2020

Look. I bought the Harrio Cold Brew pot as a gift for my gal on Valentine’s Day. It was a steal at $40, and it would be lovely for the both of us to jump into some filtered flavours. Win/win, right?! Anyhow, the delivery was speedy along with the care of the freight was painless. The next part I was not ready for. We brewed 800g of some medium roast coffee that we grounded ourselves and followed the directions given to us from the tiny little Harrio Instruction manual bible. We let that **** brew. We let it brew for a few hours. We moved on. We lived our lives. We laughed, danced and carried on.Eventually we brought our the cold brew pot from the fridge. We poured each other a glass from its easy spout and had a taste. What happened next was a fight over how many ... MoreLook. I bought the Harrio Cold Brew pot as a gift for my gal on Valentine’s Day. What with your ease of cleaning, portability, ease of use and great design and stuff... it’s just tearing us apart. I hope your gosh darn happy.

I love this cold brew pot. It is made from quality glass - be sure to hand wash. Follow the instructions and stir the coffee (not too much so the brew doesn't become bitter) with a blunt object so as to not pierce the filter - I used the blunt end of a wooden chopstick. I've read a few reviews that complained about the instructions being unreadable in past orders. I can confirm they are now written in Japanese and in English. They recommend using a dark roast and brew for 8 hours. I used a medium roast and felt 8 hours was a weak brew for a lot of coffee used (80g). I would definitely recommend watching the video alternative brewing made on using the Hario Cold Brew Pot, where they recommend brewing for 18-24 hours for the ultimate cold brew. This for me is the sweet spot of delicious cold brew which is full bodied enough and not bitter. Delicious taste and very easy to make. I get about 3 to 4 cups of cold coffee which can be made into iced coffee, coffee banana smoothie, and many other cold caffeine drinks. If something happens to this one I would purchase again, and would also purchase as gifts.

Simple and delicious
12 February 2022

I had been buying cold brew from my local cafe in the warmer months and fell in love with the strength and smoothness of the coffee. I wanted the same experience at home so I did some research and wanted a simple solution that wasn’t going to be another bulky machine in my kitchen. The Hario Cold Brew pot is the perfect solution for cold brew that is simple and easy to make. When paired with the Hario manual grinder it is straight forward and simple to make quite a bit of delicious cold brew. The pot fits in your fridge, brews up to a litre of delicious cold brew and is easy to clean and repeat. That way you can brew, store and brew again in pretty quick succession. This jug needs a deeper filter imo
7 July 2022

I have bought three smaller jugs previously. They’ve all been fantastic but break easily. We love our cold brew, but with this jug it would be great to have a deeper filter basket in order to make filling this guy as easy as it is to fill the smaller one. When the basket is still the same size as the smaller jug it takes twice the time to get the water to drain through so as to not overflow. Not ideal, but otherwise it’s a great product. I’ll go smaller again next time however, rather than repurchasing the big boi based on ease of use.

Underwhelmed
27 September 2019

I want to love it. So far i don't. I bought this because i'd discovered cold brew coffee and made my own, but it was fiddly, and my fridge is a bit small for a cafetiere to sit in. This looked good and was an excellent price. When the pot arrived, i thought wow, beautiful jug (It would get 5 stars for looks and build quality) - but sadly as i've used it, i realised i was getting a better cold-brewed coffee with my old '**** it in the cafetiere with some cold water' option. Even '**** ground coffee in an empty soda bottle with some cold water, shake and leave overnight' was better tasting. It may just be me so I'll keep trying, there must be a way to get a decent cuppa out of this. However, so far, i've had overbrewed, bitter, sharp, or weak. It may just be me so I'll keep trying, there must be a way to get a decent cuppa out of this. However, so far, i've had overbrewed, bitter, sharp, or weak. Massive waste of coffee, you have to make up a full jug each time (80g) - the filter won't get water through it if the water level is not to the top. I do love how the filter just lifts out when the brewing's done. The pot seems very sensitive to timing - an hour too much (they recommend 8) and it's awful. Then there's the shape, beautiful, but terrifying to wash/handle as it's a very long glass jug attached to a tiny handle and top. It may fit in your dishwasher (it doesn't fit in my sink, without lid can go one of my shelves for storage), but i don't know if it would be stable/safe from smashing in a dishwasher. It's even scary to keep in the fridge (while it brews) because it's so unstable. Once done, i remove from the pot and store in glass bottles - but even straight out of the pot, it isn't right. I've bought new coffee (my old was not old, and was working in old cafetiere) and even some beans to grind, to see if anything makes a difference. Wish me luck!
