Although it looks intimidating this is really a relatively easy piece of equipment to use. It's a slow process so you'll need patience but brewing is pretty hands off. It does take a bit of tinkering to get the results right. You'll need to dial in the right amount of coffee, the right grind, and the speed of your water droplets, and it's a lot of fun experimenting. I've found that light roast coffee tastes best because you don't want to taste the roast, you want to taste the characteristics of the beans.

Keep Cups are awesome - baristas don't mind using them as they are a consistent size (i.e., not to big to fit under the coffee machines). The glass versions suit those who *might forget* to wash their cups; (the plastic ones can retain the taste if you leave them unwashed over a hot weekend).

Definitely a nice beee from this filter. Easy to empty and clean up. Can get a little clogged with fine grounds but easy to wash out. Very fine sediments settle in the base of filtered brew, but doesn’t get into the cup and doesn’t bother me.

This is a quality coffee maker except for two things, one small, the other more significant. The glass lid does not fit snugly into the top water jar or the bottom jug - to keeps popping up so that it doesn't form a seal. Secondly, the drip rate is quite variable and often slows down to a halt over a period of time. So the idea that you can set it up at night and find your cold drip ready to drink in the morning is a fantasy. It requires regular supervision and adjustment during the drip process. Not happy about that!
I've wanted to stop using paper filters in the Moccamaster, mostly because it seemed wasteful. When we were unable to buy filters recently we decided to give this filter a go.It took a while to adjust to the slightly oiler taste and there is slightly more sediment in the coffee too. But it's a good alternative :)
This is a pretty good product. Its mesh is quite fine and sturdy such that it can be easily washed and will probably last a long time. It is not, however, as effective as paper filters in filtering out the finer sediment of finely ground coffee. Not a criticism really, more an observation and not a big deal if you don't mind a little sediment in the bottom of your cup after drinking your coffee. I guess one has to weigh the convenience of a washable and reusable filter as opposed to the expense and relative inconvenience of paper filters.
We received the machine very tightly packed and well protected so as there were no breakages. My son has set it up yesterday and we left for breakfast. When we returned it was nearly finished but there was a slight leakage fro the middle vessel - but suspect that is not normal and we have since made a second brew without problems. Coffee taste is superb - very smooth and quite sharp and concentrated - really happy with the results
I should've known, being a metal filter but was hopeful for something better than previous experience with other filters. Coffee comes out far too muddy to be enjoyable. I'll use this only if I run out of paper filters.
Wish I had known about this product a long time ago. Great design (they have chosen the size of the mesh carefully).Small amount of sediment - perfectly good tasting - is cost of having a mesh for perfect flow of coffee - not to too fast and not too small. With small adjustment in grind this can be reduced.Wash up is a breeze and no paper filters in the landfill. Looks like it is built to last a long time. Mine is the silver one as I have no ideas what the advantages of the gold would be. This is a basic must-buy for the confer drinker.
Works well, can definitely recommend. The mesh keeps sediment in coffee to a reasonable minimum and it's easy to rinse clean. We've used it the whole time since purchasing a mochamaster so can't compare it to paper filters but the coffee tastes great, very happy.
