I bought it a long time ago more then 1 year, and all of a sudden im not able to setup the speaker with googlehome via Android OS. The connecting to Wifi step is staying for hours aven do all the necessary data was provided. I also checked the last update of the speaker was done in 2020. To me HK is doing a very bad job when it comes to updates and maintaining products in a good shape. Just a note to HK you are not selling 20 euro speakers, you are selling high end devices that should have a great quality but in the end you sell stuff that will not be usable in 1-2 years. Now i just need to send this speaker to recycle since its a no use just because the warranty expired. Im very dissapointed and i will never look at HK products from now on. I guess its about time ... MoreI bought it a long time ago more then 1 year, and all of a sudden im not able to setup the speaker with googlehome via Android OS. I have Citations 500, 100 and One. They are really good, but sound is slightly "dry". But this one for some reason have different sound signature — sound is very lively, engaging and warm. If you listen at low volumes, it means much more pleasure from this one. Definitely excellent buy. Battery is nice addition, because Russia bombards Kyiv with Shahid-136 drones and missiles every week, causing regular power outages. And being able to listen to your favorite music during an air raid alert helps reduce your stress levels — you can't run to the shelter all the time because you have to work. But Ukraine will never give up and we will win!

I love it and its super easy to connect to google home. I bought it for this reason with the assumption it could connect to chromecast or other multibeam for movie audio. It however allows you to only cast from chromecast music and not audio from netflix or other things. Still a neat unit but it is a bit misleading as a selling point to say CHROMECAST but only for music. Can still connect to netflix with audio via a laptop sending HDMI to tv and blutooth the audio to the unit. Maybe I'm missing something. Also a handy hint. It can be a bit too bass heavy but after it is left plugged in and updates its firmware you can turn the bass up/Down by pressing Bluetooth and or - buttons. look it up on the online manual.

The Harman Kardon Citation 200 is now 2 Weeks in my possession. The first impression starts with the packing. You can see the high-quality while your unboxing the Speaker. The Speaker comes with a Charging Pad and a cable. Because of the AirPlay support, was this the first function which I tested. The sound is clean and I really enjoyed listening to my music. After a few songs I started to set up the Speaker with the Google Home App. It was really easy and the Speaker was ready to use after a few minutes. When you don’t want the Assistant to listen to you, you can mute the microphone on the back of the speaker. The Citation 200 has a simple but really good looking design. You can carry the speaker with the built in handle. With nearly 3kg the speaker isn’t a lightweight. I would recommend the Harman Kardon Citation 200. The Sound is great and you can carry the Speaker where you want. The battery lasts round about 8 hours.
I was looking for a new speaker for kitchen. Evaluated many other brands but chose this one because of name recognition and greatest design. Pros: - Great design - Easy to set up, but WiFi and Google home are must have even if you want to use Bluetooth only - Great for relaxing background music - Pretty good frequency response Cons: - WiFi and Google home are must have even if you want to use Bluetooth only - Do not try to play any rock classics on it - I understand that sound may depend on acoustics of the room. Tried many positions (all corners, countertop, closer to floor/ceiling), tried installing it in the bedroom as well. But: to much high frequencies, bass is present only at lowest frequencies (typical pop music and Jazz sound fine), but electric guitars ... MoreI was looking for a new speaker for kitchen. Podcasts also sound average: oversaturation with high frequencies makes some voices sound weird. Having proper equalizer could help with some of that
I was so lucky to test this through Reviewclub for some weeks. But when we found out that we could download Google App and use Google Assistant on it, everything got EVEN better! The sound is very good. Absolutely ingenious that you can control the voice of the speaker! And it just got better and better as we found more features. The kids love it! You can get the latest news in the morning, set up a shopping list, make it stream on the radio and the kids have even made it tell jokes! The best thing was probably when I tested it in the bathroom while I was in the shower and could change song, radio channel and adjust volume without having to press. We got to test the black one and it looks nice, but the grey one looks absolutely beautiful.
I bought this for yard/garage (also the shower as its splash/steam proof) and the Onyx Studio 4 for the house. I wanted the same music in house and garage as I moved around. Turns out they don't function the same and won't link. Not really a fault of either individual speaker, so I bought more Onyx for the house. Couple of things to be aware of: This will not just function as standard bluetooth portable speaker right out of the box. You will have to set it up with WiFi first, then set up the Google Home app. As a IOS user I just set up the wifi and skipped the Google Home app and it worked, but I could not get BT to come on, so I called support. That's how I found out that you need the Google app to enable bluetooth (the button on the unit won't do it w/o the app) and take it beyond your wifi router's range. When I first set it up and turned on the audio book reader's voice sounded like they were on helium, that's why I tried BT (and failed). After few minutes it sounded normal, so that may have been it updating its driver. It does that automatically and doesn't really give you a status indicator. So, after you it set up on wifi, I'd give it a few minutes to do what it needs to do to get ready. I will say that customer support was easy to get through to the initial level. I got an actual person in less than 30 sec. They were not much help other than confirming serial numbers, but they opened a ticket and called me back the next day. It sounds good now and surprisingly fills the house with sound (small 3 bedroom home). I will still use it for outside (bon fires and cookouts) so am keeping it.
I decided to go all in and swap out all my old stuff with Google Home devices, and that included a Citation 300, 200, Multibeam 700, and a Sub S. First problem was that TuneIn kept dropping out every few minutes. I decided to throw out my "old" mesh (old being three years), buying a new TP-link X60 mesh. Seems to have fixed it for now. Living in Norway I'd say this voice command stuff is something akin to flying the Wright brothers' first plane compared to the 787 Dreamliner you have been promised. At least every other time I need to repeat what I have said. It is very poor at combining Norwegian with English, as is very often the case with song titles. It pronounces english words and sentences with Norwegian intonation. At least every other time I need to repeat what I have said. It is very poor at combining Norwegian with English, as is very often the case with song titles. It pronounces english words and sentences with Norwegian intonation. Some commands are just not understood, like moving music to a different speaker, or they are misunderstood and it gives a completely jibberish answer, some times it answers requests made a while back, and of course they have nothing to do with what I want to have it do now. This might all be because of Google Home, and not HK, but that is what HK has chosen to go with so it's part of the package. Glad I have not spent more than I already have. The way these units function is dependent on too many factors out of my, or HK's control. More often than not it is a rather frustrating experience. I can just imagine calling HK about the TuneIn issue. They would blame my ISP, or my router, or google, or TuneIn, and any of the others would do the same (probably the same for any other "smart" speaker system). In the kitchen where we have placed the Citation 200 our old DAB radio is the preferred sound source because it invariably works.
I chose the harman kardon for many different reasons. However, in many ways the primary reason was to simplify my day. Portable, battery-powered, superior sound quality, water-resistant, build-in Chromecast and Google Assistant. My expectation was a speaker that could fulfil all that at the same time, while not costing more than my smartphone. All of the many features are listed on the product page, so I won’t be citing those here, just let me tell you, there are a lot of smart and handy ways to use this speaker. For those in a hurry: I was not disappointed. The premium feeling started with the packaging, which feels solid and thought-through. During unpacking, you find manuals and cables in the right order to set it up and everything is easy to remove from the box. ... MoreI chose the harman kardon for many different reasons. However, in many ways the primary reason was to simplify my day. Portable, battery-powered, superior sound quality, water-resistant, build-in Chromecast and Google Assistant. The speaker is solid, a little on the heavy side, feels very sturdy and of high quality manufacturing. The wide and soft leather handle makes for a comfortable holding experience, even when carrying it for some time. I wanted to connect the speaker using Google Home and was not disappointed with how easy this is. To verify the ease to do this, I reset it again and let my wife set it up as well. It took her just over 3 minutes without even reading the manual. The design is strikingly simple and blends in nicely with the room décor. Every element of the speaker is kept in its primary colour (dark grey in my case). The buttons on the top are clearly visible, yet camouflaged by the top plain. The Smart Speaker “action lights” (used when listening, loading and also for volume display) are hidden behind the front mesh, so unless they are actively used, there is no sight of an LED. If the speaker is placed on its separate charging pad, it “sinks in” a little bit, so that it stands very secure, yet I can’t help but wonder if it would have been possible to have the pad hide fully under the speaker. Although the battery life is great, I once forgot to place it on the charging pad and went on a BBQ, where the battery was about to run out at the prime time of the evening. However, since the speaker itself can be charged through USB-C (11,5W) even without the charging pad, I was able to use my smartphone charger. This makes it charge slower, than the near 60W charging pad, but it keeps the party going all night. Now when it comes to the sound properties, I will be honest, I am no sound expert. I don’t speak wavelengths and jargon, but I like to listen to music and like it to “sound good”. Therefore, I was pleasantly surprised to experience a clear and strong sound, even at the highest volume levels. In fact, the sound was so good and clear; I went ahead and made this my primary music-machine in the living room (before it was an old Samsung Sound bar). So, to sum it up, I can only recommend this speaker to anyone looking for a high-end speaker for a fair price. We will be buying our second Citation 200 soon, to make use of the multi-room and Dual-Play system. Pro: + quick, easy to set up + high-quality, durable feeling + long battery life (8h) with quick charging (3h) + crystal-clear sound even at maximum volume + microphone captures voice without trouble over music Contra: - can be heavier than expected (some 3kg)

The incompetent product designers at Harmon Kardon didn’t have the brains to think through the fact that there maybe a large portion of their fans WHO WANT A BANGIN’ speaker with THE OPTION to connect it as a smart speaker but they primarily want to use it as a Bluetooth device. How hard is it to just put a Bluetooth button on the speaker THAT DOESNT REQUIRE ANOTHER STUPID APP ON YOUR PHONE. No, they could figure that out. Instead they designed it to force you to pair it with your Google home app AND WiFi. Incompetent. That’s the only words I can think. Well, having previously owned the Onix for years and loving it, I learned my lesson about trusting the “innovation” of HK. Lame. $15 Bluetooth headphones from Walmart can at least figure that part out. So stupid. Very disappointed
