Very basic interface which can be simplistic, but adjustments are very limited. That's fine.Where the real problem is, is the connection quality is poor. Static can be easily heard unless the setup is pristine and very poor latency (- 0.5 seconds). Both these issues get worse when dual pairing with two speakers is enabled. Issue far more present when connected to a PC than phone. It can really be a struggle to enjoy when sound gets interrupted due to poor connection quality.Audio quality, however, is remarkable for its price. Very clean mids and highs compared to the JBL Extremes, Bose Revolves or even Sonos Ones in my opinion. Bass is okay when normal volume but gets immensely better when blasting them- very powerful for their small size. Besides the sound profile being rather warm and bass-oriented (almost as if they marinate your ears), nothing special or gimmicky is in the audio. If you plan on using this for your computer or using it where latency is important, this is a bad choice. If you plan on using this to listening music with your phone or as a party speaker, would recommend.

To say I'm impressed with this thing would be an understatement. I am not a super picky person when it comes to audio, but I had a 2 channel receiver and floorstanding speakers starting at like age 8 in 1995. In 2017, I decided that I wanted to put a fair bit of money into a 2.1 channel setup. Fast forward to present day, and I have over 3k in hardware alone. Also have heard some good Bluetooth speakers. Mostly bose soundlinks, and some cheaper Walmart brand models that still sounded okay. The older gen one with the leather flip cover, and the newer one with a color screen and kinda looks like a tiny waste basket. Finally getting to the point, there is absolutely no comparison to those other bt speakers I've spent time with. The top brass at bose should listen ... MoreTo say I'm impressed with this thing would be an understatement. The top brass at bose should listen to this speaker that looks as gorgeous as it sounds and feel a strong urge to leap from their cushy offices. Because not only does this speaker look and sound twice as good as the Bose home speakers 500, it does so while costing over HALF the price of Bose's 350 usd pretax asking price. The only advantage the Bose home speaker has, as far as I can tell, is its fancy color screen and compatibility with the digital assistant wiretaps. The only complaint I have is the one I have with all bt speakers: its lack of I/O. Why someone hasn't figured out a sort of docking station to add RCA inputs and outputs (including subwoofer), digital (coax, optical, etc) ins and outs, and more, or found a way to have them on the unit is beyond me. I guess that would potentially take from consumer motivation to buy that brands home stereo products. With all this in mind, I really cannot see a product at a price point of 150 usd surpassing this one.

I fell in love with Harmon Kardon audio after I purchased their speakers and subwoofer with a Dell desktop many, many years ago.I have been looking for a loud Bluetooth speaker with good bass and bought this, in navy blue, when it was on sale for $200 in October 2022. As soon as I pressed the power button and heard the start up melody with the rumbling bass, I knew this was the speaker I had been longing for.Unfortunately, after playing about eight songs, it would die. I used customer support on this website to facilitate an exchange and the replacement speaker only lasts about 2 hours on half volume after charging overnight. That is quite far from the specified 8 hours. I do understand that the volume level does affect its battery life but 2 hours of usage just ... MoreI fell in love with Harmon Kardon audio after I purchased their speakers and subwoofer with a Dell desktop many, many years ago.I have been looking for a loud Bluetooth speaker with good bass and bought this, in navy blue, when it was on sale for $200 in October 2022. Bought the onyx 7 at TMobile because they had a great deal & I know Harman Kardon is well known for producing products with top quality sound! I still believe in HK's quality products! However, I have to be honest & say that I am very disappointed in the product I purchased & am now stuck with because TMobile will not take returns after seven days! The speaker is eye catching & put together very well. I like the bass & sound quality however, it is not very loud & even difficult to hear once you get more than 50 feet away from it! I work an 8 hr shift for a well known wholesale company & am allows to listen to my music for four(4) hours. I bring it to work with a full charge but, the battery doesn't even last the 4 hrs I have to listen to it! The manual claims it ... MoreBought the onyx 7 at TMobile because they had a great deal & I know Harman Kardon is well known for producing products with top quality sound! Honestly, as much as I like the Harman products I would not have purchased this speaker had I known it lacked qualities I look for when buying a speaker! For the money I spent on this unit, I could have bought a better portable speaker with the sound & quality & would have saved a little money as well. Overall, good product, over priced & not worth the price it is retailed at!
I have been testing this now for about 3 weeks via Reviewclub and use it often. The sound is great! The bass is indescribable! (Wish I could adjust it down occasionally as there can be a lot of bass at times). But the bass is too good to be a portable speakerThe battery lasts a long time, even with a loud noise. And everything with it is simply very good.Best portable speaker I have ever come across! If there had been an equalizer and the ability to select settings for various music choices, it would have been even better!Definitely worth every penny, the only downside is perhaps the size as they are a bit worth dragging with them everywhere. With a slightly lower volume, the battery can last a whole day, and with an electrical outlet nearby, you can quickly ... MoreI have been testing this now for about 3 weeks via Reviewclub and use it often. I may be missing a bigger update than Onyx studio 4 as it seems that the effect is the same since the first time these were produced, should have been significantly much better by now.
I had all the model from Onyx Studio 1 to Onyx Studio 4. Never had any issue, they worked perfect and great sound. I decided to buy Onyx Studio 7 and I am very disappointed. It is losing the Bluetooth signal all the time like it will some interference on the old cell phone. I testes 2 speakers already and both they do the same. Obviously there is a problem. Now I feel so sorry I was a fan for so many year and finally time to switch to real brands. Maybe Samsung should pay more attention on what it is happening of they decided to buy Harman Kardon. Plus their customer support it is so out dated and not trained. Don't buy this crap!
The harmon onyx 6 was superb for travel and the handle made it convenient for lake days. Unfortunately the 7 is poor in comparison. Audio quality overall is okay, although they should update their Bluetooth to avoid loss audio quality. If you are using this speaker as a portable party speaker this is not the speaker for you. If you are using it in party chain for a whole home affect this should be fine but stand alone it is not nearly loud enough. Some songs and high end tones come across grainy in my opinion and my friends agree that the 6 sounds way better. Definitely not worth it for the price
I purchased this after falling in love with the brand when I had a Dell desktop computer that came with Harman Kardon speakers and a subwoofer. I needed a long-lasting, loud, wireless speaker with heavy bass. I purchased this in October of this year and was extremely disappointed that it died after playing about eight songs. I sent it back for a replacement and so far, the replacement only lasts for 2 hours. That was on the highest volume for a few songs before I turned it down to mid-volume. I can't justify the price that I paid at the time for only 2 hours of use. I am not sure if there is something wrong with the replacement as well but I am not happy with the battery life. The sound is exquisite and exactly what I was dreaming about but it if this speaker can ... MoreI purchased this after falling in love with the brand when I had a Dell desktop computer that came with Harman Kardon speakers and a subwoofer. I returned two of these units since I thought the first was defective.Air is heard escaping the top of the device when playing low frequencies. It sounds like subwoofer port chuffing, but worse than I've heard it anywhere else. It's bad enough that under the right conditions it's the loudest part of the song being played.Like I said I thought my first speaker was defective, but after an exchange and hearing the identical noise out of the replacement I have to assume it is a design flaw in the speaker. Amazingly I can find no other reference to this issue online. I bought this as a way to keep me going throughout the day with the sounds of music, but I connected it to my TV and I was blown away! The enhanced bass and highs gives a theatrical experience to sitcoms and cartoons. Though the speaker itself can have some overwhelming high bass, some EQ’ing can treat it right (speaker itself does not have an equalizer AFAIK). Battery life on this thing exceeded my expectations. Going on 10 hours so far on it and the battery hasn’t gotten low. Definitely my money’s worth! P.S. the handle doesn’t swivel, it’s stationary.
