I read these books as they came out as a kid. I reread them as an adult, and they still hold up. Book Two expands the world, including providing important history on Hogwarts and the magical community. Harry, now in his second year, is warned that bad things are happening at Hogwarts. Harry must work with his friends to figure out who is terrorizing students with Muggle parents (literally committing hate crimes) before more violence ensues. The pace is past and the world is intriguing. If you are coming to this series for the first time, especially if you are introducing this series to a young person, I recommend reading up on JK Rowling’s transphobia and issues with the series in terms of stereotypes, lack of diversity, and the handling of minority groups with the ... MoreI read these books as they came out as a kid. What a time to be alive! I enter the magical world of Harry Potter again, this time with my own son, able to read to him the stories that I grew up on. This time around, he will be able to read and listen to the stories while also seeing beautiful illustrations of every important scene. The books are longer and wider than the originals, albeit thinner. The larger page area allows for full sized (and sometimes double paged) images that truly immerse you in the current scene. The print is also a little larger, which is great for younger readers picking up the series for the first time.As for the literature itself, we all know this series is a timeless classic. Whether it's the originals or these, the series is sure to be one of the best you've read and much better than the movies, of course. Though with the illustrated novels, you will have to wait a year between each book like I had to as a kid, but it'll be even more worth it to have the amazing pictures to accompany it.

Continue the Harry Potter journey! The second installment of the Harry Potter series is sure to enthrall you. The beginning is full of recap, like that Harry is a wizard and his family sucks, but once you get past that things are golden! You get to see more of the history behind a lot of significant characters and see the development of just as many. The prejudice present at school, or really the wizarding world, plays a prominent theme and can make this a more "adult" book than the previous one. However, it's full of lessons to not judge others and that good always wins. I find this one difficult to review further without giving spoilers! It's beautifully written and has the same themes as the first. Good versus evil is prominent, as it is throughout the series.
I love these harry Potter series and this book was actually my turning point in reading not that I did not read before that but I was attracted to series and trilogy after reading this I’m excited to give this set to our neighbor and classmates for them to enjoy and return. I have been wanting to read the whole series for a while and I am very pleased with the quality of this paperback set for the price. I expected mass market paperback quality considering it was priced apt.Always one of my favourite fantasy fictions. The box set was finely packed and the best gift I could give myself to survive this lockdown. No complaints, go ahead and indulge yourself into the best of worlds reading these books for knowledge, entertainment , vocabulary.
In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry, a twelve year old boy is continuing another fascinating year at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. This second book in the J.K. Rowling series is a must read! Not only do the main characters Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger set out to solve a new problem but, they realize that somebody has opened the Chamber of Secrets. Through trial and error our heroes search for clues to save one of their friends. Again Harry must put his life in danger to save others who are important to him. J.K. Rowling has introduced us to some new characters in book two. We meet a magical elf, Dobby, a new professor, Gilderoy Lockheart and finally Ginny Weasley, Ron's younger sister who joins the famous trio. Rowling has introduced us to some new characters in book two. We meet a magical elf, Dobby, a new professor, Gilderoy Lockheart and finally Ginny Weasley, Ron's younger sister who joins the famous trio. I liked this book because it was a true page turner. As the reader you can search for possible clues along with Harry, Ron and Hermione. I would recommend this book to anyone over seven years old. J.K. Rowling did an excellent job.
First of all: the one I got was not a Bloomsbury hardcover, but a Ted Smart 2nd printing from, I believe, 1998. Apart from some age related wear (the dust jacket is a bit wrinkled, and the union between the last pages and the endpapers is worn), it's in great condition, no missing or damaged pages. About the novel: what can be said about this book that hasn't been said in 25 years? It's charming, fun, witty, and the main mystery of the year is great. We get to know a bit about magic world history from before Harry's time, and new characters make a lasting impression, while Harry, Ron and Hermione's friendship develops in a believable way.
I got the Philosopher's Stone version of this book and have read it countless times with my son. So naturally got him this one for his birthday to continue the adventure. A great version for younger kids first discovering these books.
Literally stunning copies ! These copies are interactive & so much fun to read to children! Every few pages there is a new interactive page that brings these stories to life! The art on the pages is absolutely stunning. Adults and kids both will adore this fun artistic twist on an all time favorite book. It makes for a great gift too! I like that it comes wrapped in plastic to insure that your copy is completely untouched!
What can I say about Harry Potter that has not been said before? It is witty, complex plot and enchanting. This Gift edition is truly beautiful. This gift edition hardback, presented in a beautiful foiled cloth slipcase decorated with brand new line art by Jonny Duddle. It looks extremely beautiful but more importantly its readable without worry about the book being destroyed. This will delight readers as they follow Harry and his friends through their second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.Definitely recommend for all the Harry Potter fans out there.
