This book was utter trash. As someone who loves the HP series and re-reads the entire series once a year, this play was so, so, so damaging. It has a very weak and bad plot that makes no sense and goes off cannon various time. All the characters (especially the female characters) are 2 dimensional with nothing to tie them back to the originals. Although not actually written by Rowling herself with the niche details that you associate with her writing, it is still a recommended read for those fascinated with this creation and world of wizarding. The structure is at times jarring as things are not laid out how they would be in a novel, but it is very much easier to read being in screenplay format. It has stage directions etc which can take you out of the fantasy at times but it is a small gripe. So far into it the story is interesting enough and as I say easy to read and the pages fly by. I stopped reading it because it was too strange. But I could tell that it was a good book for more modern reader. Agatha Christie is more my speed. I've gotten all of the agatha books on EBAY that I can. do you have any more suggestions?
Loved this. As an original 'Potterhead' I was excited about this release. I have heard that others find it difficult to follow due to the script format, but it did not bother me, and if you unfamiliar with this format I would suggest to perserve, and it gets easier.I loved the story. It mixed things up, you got to revisit familar characters and it referrenced the older books enough for it make sense. I was happy with the storylines, but felt there were some short comings. This makes sense as it is a play, not a novel. If the writers had gone to the effort to write in a novel format, I feel they could have gone further with many aspects, but understand the limitations.Its an easy, lightweight read. Very enjoyable.
I purchased this when it first came out and I was very disappointed in it. For one I didn't realise it was in script format, which made it very hard to read and not easy to connect to the characters. Two, the story seemed so far from the original series that it's hard to associate the 2. I've only read it the once and never entend to read it again.
The book condition is excellent. Every page is mint condition. The book itself is just alright in terms of enjoyment. If you wanna read a post-apocalyptic-type novel, read 1984. Wayyyyy better!

I wasn't surprised, however I agree with the other reviews that it is a hard book to read in the script format.Without being a plot spoiler, I found some of the content disappointing especially surrounding Cedric Diggory (who in book 4 was one of my fav characters). I wonder if the memory of these characters should have been preserved. It was an enjoyable ending to the Harry Potter series.It is a SCRIPT, not a novel. But I enjoyed reading the script version. It was a quick read, 3-4hrs. You could probably read it after only watching the movies.Some like it, some don't. It's not a bad book, but some have expectations about what it *should* have been, and were then disappointed. I picked it up and just accepted it for what it is - and it was a perfectly good story. Sometimes a little cliche, a little fan-fiction.It has a few extras at the end, like the people who acted in the original play and some author notes.

The star of the show is undoubtedly SCORPIUS, the lone son of Draco Malfoy. And what a sad story *that* is. He (SPOILERS) befriends Albus Potter (son of Harry and Ginny) in chapter one and the reader doesn't look back. Some of the lines he comes out with will make all readers, especially adults, burst out laughing over and over again. Once you get used to the writing and publishing style of the book, it becomes a joy to read. There is no great depth here, so adjust your mind set from the great times and adventures of books 1 through 7 before commencing. New characters are a bonus, especially one in particular (SPOILERS) whom the reader will meet and be suitably impressed with on the Hogwarts Express.Having said that, it *is* hard at times, thinking of the world saving trio of Ron, Harry and Hermione as grown up adults, each with adult and muggle based responsibilities of their own to manage and deal with. What is not difficult to accept is the rambunctious goings-on of the two main characters studying magic (as a part time hobby) but also managing to saving the world, and coincidentally preventing the dreaded the return of You Know Who in the process. Scorpius is a gorgeous character, full of life and live, and wisdom, and enthusiasm to make things right, even if he hates the Greatest Wizard The World Has ever Known Who Happens to Be His Father.The utlimate solution to the puzzle of preventing the return of You Know Who is brilliant. In typical JK fashion, hints are scattered throughout the book for the eagle eyed observer to pick up and analyse. I am thefirst to confess I did not see it all coming, but i much prefer to sit back and enjoy the show instead of wasting precious amounts of mental concentration trying to predict what is about to happen.So the book is finished. I loved it. As i have said above, it is not as long, deep or complex as the classics from the past but its a great way for veterans to extend the most unique fantasy universe ever created. If nothing else, once read, it gives the reader strong encouragement to revisit the wonder, excitement, pure innocence and absolute genius of the original books sooner than you normally would have. And that can't be a bad thing, can it?Four stars for this fantastic but slighty short read.
