My daughter loves the Harry Potter books, it's revived her interest In reading that was lost for so long, now she asks me to order the next story when she's half way through the book..

Even if this is the longest book in the Harry Potter series, it doesn't feel that long. Everything here happens for a reason, and even the most inconsequential episodes help build Rowling's characters. And I feel it's appropiate that the longest book is the one where the school is taken over by the overly sacharine tyrant that is Dolores Umbridge; a character so vile that you will end up hating her more than Voldemort (at least for a while). If Goblet gave us the starting point for the second half of the series, Order deepens our understanding of what it was like the first time he was around and how it affected people, and how the wizard community is taking his return.

I found once I started reading the book, I could not put it down. It has much more plot in it than the film did starring Daniel Radcliffe. I enjoyed watching the film, but I enjoyed reading the book even more. The film contains only about a third of what is actually told in the book. However, it is very thick book it is not possible to put everything in it into a 2 hour film.

Admitting to the fact that I own paperback and hardback editions of all 7 Harry Potter novels, and all of the two-disc editions of the movies, plus the four-disc deluxe movie editions that have been released as yet, it is only logical that I was biding my time to make the deluxe book purchases. It only took me so long to acquire them because I wanted to buy them at a reasonable price, and $80-$100 or more didn't seem like the best use of my funds for something that I already had a copy of. So why buy the book for yet a third time? Completist obsession, maybe? Very likely. Too bad there are no deluxe book editions for the first four volumes. I'd be suckered into them too. No, I bought it because of the artwork: different colored artwork by illustrator Mary GrandPre which wrapped all the way around the jacket, including the spine and the additional picture per chapter beyond the one at the title of each chapter. And that's it. Artwork is the sole reason I purchased these books yet again. And I like having things that most other people don't have (at least that are not too expensive - I am a poor student after all)...it's a particular quirk of mine. I hope this helps you make your decision easier.
I love all Harry Potter books, they are so imaginative and inspiring. J.K. Rowling has a remarkable style. Anyone who loves magic and suspense should read this book. Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix takes place mostly at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the Ministry of Magic. Two dementors of Azkaban attack Harry Potter and his cousin, Dudley. Harry Potter is taken to headquarters of the society known as the Order of the Phoenix. There he is informed of that Lord Voldemort might be after something he didn't have the last time. Harry Potter is taken to headquarters of the society known as the Order of the Phoenix. There he is informed of that Lord Voldemort might be after something he didn't have the last time. Heading back to Hogwarts with his two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, Harry feels more alone than ever. Dumbledore stays away from him and there is a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Her name is Professor Umbridge. Professor Umbridge is the undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, who appoints her as High Inquisitor. She refuses to teach her classes any spells. With Hermione and Ron's encouragement, Harry agrees to train a selection of students who become known as the D.A. or Dumbledore's Army. But when Umbridge finds out and Dumbledore runs away, Harry is faced with a dream that frightens him and convinces him to go to the Ministry of Magic. But Harry does not go alone for his five friends, Hermione, Ron, Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom, and Luna Lovegood, want to go with him. When they arrive at the Ministry Harry discovers the weapon and realizes that himself and his friends are in a trap from Lord Voldemort. When someone special to Harry dies, he discovers that he has to control his thoughts when he comes face to face with Lord Voldemort.
THIS BOOK IS AWESOME BECAUSE THE BOOK IS ACTION PACKED WITH SO MUCH MAGIC. IT IS FOR MOSTLY ALL AGES. THERE IS SO MUCH MYSTERY TO IT. THERE IS SO MUCH THERE. THE COVER IS PRETTY AWESOME. THE CHARACTERS SOME ARE NEW. PLACES HAVE CHANGED, PEOPLE COMING CLOSER TO HARRY POTTER FOR NEW FAMILY. IT'S A GOOD READ. WHAT IS BAD IS THAT DEATH IS CLOSER TO LOVED ONES FOR HARRY. HE WANTS IT TO STOP. VERY INTENSE READ.
I have terrible insomnia. Listening to recorded books keeps my mind off my worries. I read the Harry Potter series years ago and am glad I purchased this Audio Book. It's in great shape, is a good story and will keep me company for hours.
IT IS APPARENT that this, the fifth book in the greatest series of YA books ever written, has a much darker tale to tell than the rest of the series combined. The book starts out angry and doesn't - quite literally - let up - apart from an all too brief period of euphoria for Ron as he celebrates a personal milestone on the Quidditch field. But even that is well past the book's seventy five percent mark. And even at book's end, after the reader is granted access to what has to be the single greatest action sequence ever penned involving witches, and wizards, and good guys, and bad guys, and heroes, and martyrs, and sacrifices, and kids growing up before your very eyes to fight to the death for things they barely understand, there ain't no sunshine to break through ... MoreIT IS APPARENT that this, the fifth book in the greatest series of YA books ever written, has a much darker tale to tell than the rest of the series combined. But even that is well past the book's seventy five percent mark. And even at book's end, after the reader is granted access to what has to be the single greatest action sequence ever penned involving witches, and wizards, and good guys, and bad guys, and heroes, and martyrs, and sacrifices, and kids growing up before your very eyes to fight to the death for things they barely understand, there ain't no sunshine to break through the metaphorical storm clouds that comprise the heart breaking tale that is HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX.Harry is angry, because he feels that everyone he has grown to know, grown to love and grown to trust from the last four years have turned their communicative backs on him. All the way down from Professor Dumbledore, to Godfather Sirius, and even to Ron and Hermoine - all previously loved avenues of dialogue - both physical and metaphorical - have all dried up. But even despite promises of a big reveal to Harry from the fore mentioned characters, Harry (and of course, the reader) is made aware of very little even as the story progresses. When Harry is finally rescued from the relentless boredom of life at Privett Drive after a near death experience with a couple of Dementors, he finds himself located at the heart of the gorgeous sounding ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. But even then, he is rewarded with more presumed lies and secret keeping from his loved ones. Dumbledore won't talk to him, he won't even look at Harry, even as the famous story delights the world by returning us to Hogwarts. And in year five at this extraordinary castle, when things are starting to get serious (no pun intended), Harry feels even more let down than ever by not having access to the world's most loved Professor. But looks can be deceiving. Life at Hogwarts is not just about learning magic and passing exams. Well, it is for most kids lucky enough to be invited to study there. But as the world knows after four incredible books, and four incredible years, Harry Potter is not your ordinary child. There are events transpiring, prophecies declaring, and events being put into motion that he knows nothing about. And that is a good thing. If our hero knew what was in store for him as time progressed, it is a fair chance he would run screaming in terror to the end of the world, never to be seen again. This book is essentially about a prophecy. Learn the prophecy and everything changes. Even at book's end, when it was finally safe for open communication to occur between two of the book's great heroes, the explanation from Dumbledore to Harry brought the great old wizard to tears.PHOENIX started off slowly. There was no obvious point to the story. A new character was introduced that was soon detested both within the HP universe and outside of it. The world took great umbrage at this brilliantly drawn extension of the legend but its definitely fair to say that she got her comeuppance at the end. This book may well shock its fans. Major events transpire. Much loved characters of the story are given the chop in more ways than one. But as i have already mentioned, book five is essentially about a prophecy.Learn the prophecy, and everything changes. An awesome, breath taking five stars for an awesome, breath taking book.More please.
Well where do i start! The book was and is amazing! I like it better than the movie! It explains so much more and makes it so you understand what is going on with everyone and everything. I couldnt put the book down believe it or not! I finished the book in a week because i just couldnt put it down. I tell everyone now who are watching the movies and not reading the books to read them and they wont ask half as many questions about the movie, when i got done with the book i watched the movie to see if the movie was as understanding than the book. The movie is great but i like the book better! I would tell a friend to start reading the Harry Potter series! Love it!
The Harry Potter series are my favorite collection of books of all time. I would really like to thank the author, J.K. Rowling, for changing the lives of millions of people, especially children. Not only are the stories amazing, but J.K. Rowling truly is an excellent writer, unlike many other fiction writers with a large cult following (Twilight series). I could not imagine my life without ever reading Harry Potter and I urge you, young or old, to give this book series a chance. Trust me, you will love it.
