Risk is an awesome game of wits, and strategy. It’s a fun multiplayer game, that has tons of fun military pieces, where you set up army’s and invade countries to grow your territory, until one player eventually masterminds the monopoly of spreading their players across the entire globe to win the game. It’s super fun and challenging, and is a great board game to play with your family and friends.

So much fun!!! One of the longest board games I've played but you'll be entertained the whole time. It is a strategic game so you have to plan your moves but winning really depends on the number you roll. Used to play this with my brothers when we were younger. Now I play with my son. The more people playing, the better

I had never actually played this game before buying it, but it is great fun. I have 8- and 5-year-old boys who love getting into my Axis and Allies board game, which far too advanced for them. I bought Risk because I figured it is a good intro into the strategy-type board games. They both love it and have a pretty good understanding of the rules, though I find it necessary to moderate whenever they play. My wife, who initially thought it was way to difficult and wasn't really into it, started loving it after about thirty minutes in. The dice battles are really exciting. Note that this game takes a while to finish, so don't start within about two hours of bedtime. Otherwise, buy it!

Challenging and fun
17 January 2016

I searched a number of sites for the Risk board game I remember playing in the 80's to give my 13-year-old who enjoys strategy games (namely, Settlers of Catan and Diplomacy). I didn't find the familiar one anywhere, but my husband and I agree that this is essentially the same Risk we grew up with.My old version had plastic Roman numerasl to represent troops. This has individual infantrymen for 1 troop, cavalry for 5, and artillery for 10. If your bored, you can waste your strategic energy by arranging troops into formations and setting up veterans clubs. First, an introductory version for new players that keeps the game from turning into a 3 hour humiliation for the loser. Second, the classic game. Third, a two-player version in which the other 3 armies are neutral. All three versions work well, and if all the players agree, you could mix and match rules to customize your playing experience.Risk is a long, mentally involved game. It's not likely to appeal to anyone younger than 10, or anyone with thin skin. But it's satisfyingly challenging and a fun way to bring together tweens and up.

Generations of enjoyment!
30 November 2018

This was the first complicated game I remember playing as a kid in the 70’s. My cousin loved the game and couldn’t wait for us to play when we got together. Flash forward and his coffee table has a likeness of the Risk board engraved into it! Our family did not take it quite that far, but Risk was a surefire way of removing the video game controllers from my sons hands for a few hours! A long playing, strategy intense game, it fed their need for competition and deep thought. The boys are adults now with sons of their own, but we all still play Risk when we get together....especially at my cousins house!Highly recommend

Generations of fun

You can not beat a classic board game, sure theres new games made every year but you will probably never revisit them like a classic one. Risk is one of a few that will surely engage all ages of the family (who are above 6 years old) and once your child has grown up they would still enjoy this game. I was brought up with this being one of my familys games and now Ive moved out I had to get the identical one for myself, the premise of this is simple and easy to learn but like chess if you have a member strategically inclined your games will be that much harder and enjoyable. After a while I found my family trying diplomacy to ally themselves against my conquest unfortunately for them they still failed because alliances tend to conflict with each players missions

OK UK version but...
17 November 2021

Versions differ in design of parts from simple blocks of different shapes to these moulded cavalry/etc but the game is still pretty much the same. There are versions with different instructions giving different ways of playing but for VFM I just wanted to relive my youth. There are some fantastic versions available in USA and very low prices BUT shipping and customs make that prohibitive!

There may be some tears!
12 January 2017

Ultimate Family Fun! We play with our 7 and 8 year old boys and it is a blast! They beg to to play this game. Warning: this game can go on forever but that's part of the appeal. Play it on a spare table you can leave and come back to the next day. Our boys have been playing monopoly for a couple of years so it was time to step it up with a new strategy game and risk is it! There is nothing that can take the place of the memories played on a board game. Worth the money also as this game ranges between $20 to $30. It is a large board with many pieces. It takes twists and turns and there will be ups and downs, maybe even some tears but good fun in the long run. You can't lose with this purchase!

Those little plastic pieces are a major pain and ruin the game. Don't buy it
10 March 2016

I have played risk all my life. Recently while visiting my Son and Grand Children we went to the store and purchased this very expensive risk game. The game comes with plastic soldiers that are so hard to deal with. They fall over with the slightest touch. But the real problem is they are similar in color and it's very difficult to keep track of your forces. I was so glad I got eliminated early and didn't not have to mess with this disaster of game. Get yourself a vintage version with the brighly colored wooden blocks. You will save some money and enjoy this great game the way it was intended to be played.

You won’t be disappointed
1 August 2019

Hours of fun - in either longer games or shorter ones. The game itself is brilliantly conceived, so you can see why it continues to be so popular. It’s just great fun, too.Instructions are really clear, so very helpful. My 12-yr-old and 9-yr-old had no problem setting it up and getting on with a game. It’s a bit beyond my 6-yr-old (not surprising, as it’s aimed at 10+, which I’d say is spot on) but she enjoyed being on a team with me and rolling the dice for us.Game boards and pieces these days are never of the quality you’d like them to be (in any game) - but those in this set are plenty good enough.Basically, you won’t be disappointed!
