I recently bought the Haworth Fern after looking at reviews for ergonomic chairs for weeks. The backrest on the Fern is incredible - it feels like leaning back into a hammock. The backrest moves with you - so for people that sit cross-legged or slouch to the side, the backrest will follow you and continue to provide support. The seat is also fantastic in that it has a number of different configuration options. The first being its ability to slide forward or backward horizontally - a great feature to cater for people with long or short legs. There is also a forward tilt mechanism on the seat, which I don't use - but more options is better than none!I rate the Haworth Fern 5 stars - after going through a number of chairs that gave me back pain, I can now sit ... MoreI recently bought the Haworth Fern after looking at reviews for ergonomic chairs for weeks. The backrest on the Fern is incredible - it feels like leaning back into a hammock. Offficeworks has an absolutely abysmal online system - I was advised the chair would initially be here between 8am-5pm on Friday the 18th of Feb. I took a day off work to wait for the delivery, which never came. After calling the Officeworks contact centre, they said it was coming on Monday, as it had just been sent to Toll for delivery - Toll confirmed this wasn't the case and they had not received the package from Officeworks yet. The chair didn't arrive until the 28th of February. In summary, this is arguably the best chair you can get for comfort and ergonomics - but beware you will have a terrible customer service experience through Officeworks.

Worth the price - provides comfort unattainable by any cheaper chairs with a noticeable premium feel.

I purchased Haworth Fern from officeworks and realized that on seat there is a play in it and is unstable .Chair is unstable , even the tilt adjustments are very limited to two.

Succinctly, this is not the Haworth Fern model you might be expecting if you’ve seen it reviewed elsewhere. After a great deal of reading online and watching countless video reviews of various options for my new office chair, I came to settle on the Haworth Fern looking like a reasonable value offering. Disappointingly, that has not been my experience with this chair. This particular model is not the model discussed in online reviews or videos, but rather a stripped down, barebones, box store variant bearing the same name.My experience certainly differs to some other reviews I had read on OW prior to committing to my purchase. I certainly don’t intend to discredit their experience, but rather offer that my experience was different. Personally, for all day use at 192cm tall and around 125kg, I find this chair unaccommodating and inappropriate for my continued use.* The seat pan (while it is adjustable) is unusable in the position as far forward as I require for leg support as the fact that you’re hanging off the back of the seat pan is uncomfortably noticeable.* The seat pan has a slight but noticeable forward incline even when the tilt has been fully adjusted up.* While the backrest does offer some comfort and extends high enough to offer some shoulder support at my height, I personally find the lower back support inadequate and far too soft. This is despite other reviews suggesting that the Fern’s lumbar support is pronounced and quite adequate without the additional lumbar component (which I knew this model did not include).* The armrests are not the 4D adjustable type featured in every review and video I had seen. Rather this model offers height adjustment only. 4D adjustability was a feature I really looking for in a new chair and would expect at this price point.* The overall feel of the chair has a disappointingly mass produced plasticky feel, most evident in the chair base and castors. Certainly not in line with the brand’s premium reputation or price point. While this chair does offer some perfectly functional features, like the tension adjustment for the recline, the recline limit locks, the height of the backrest etc; these features can not make up for its shortcomings. It is also possible to find equivalent features in a range of alternative offerings at a considerably lower price point.I’m extremely disappointed with my personal experience with this Haworth Fern model, to the extent that I would personally dismiss the consideration of the Haworth brand entirely for any future purchase decisions. I don’t believe this chair offers a reasonable value proposition and I thoroughly regret my purchase decision.I personally could not recommend this Haworth Fern chair to anyone looking to buy in the premium range that it is offered in.
I’m 195cm and 125kg. I’ve never found a budget or mid range office chair that’s gone the distance. However I believe this one will. It’s got firm support and secure base mounting with no side to side wobble. I can sit in this for hours and have no soreness. The recline resistance is a convenient crank handle which is simple to use. Even the arm rests have precise click levers. However for me, the best part is the seat base that slides out to increase the under-thigh support that is essential for those of us with long legs. Great chair!
I am very very disappointed as the height adjustable lumber that was designed for this chair is not included, or even given as an option. As a result the chair is not ergonomic, has no back support as the backing is too soft to support the lumber part of your spine. It’s crazy to spend this much on a chair and you can’t get adequate back support. If you are going to sell it without the lumber height adjustment change the structure to adequately to support the spine. Very misleading.
I tested this chair at Haworth's office because I couldn't find any Officeworks stores with one to try. The chair was amazing, perfect! I got home and ordered one right away through Officeworks, thinking it would be similar to the one I tried out (although missing some features like adjustable arm rests and a head rest). The chair I received is absolutely a joke. I can't believe this is the same chair I tried out. It says it's a Haworth Fern but it doesn't feel like it. The seat is wobbly on the tilt setting, so I have to sit right at the edge if I don't want my legs to go numb. The back rest is completely unsupportive. I could write an essay on this but I am just so shocked that this is being sold as the same chair.Don't waste your money. This iteration of the Fern seems to be specifically for large office suppliers. Obviously this doesn't come with the lumbar support or the headrest, however, surprisingly it doesn't come with the 4D adjustments on the arm rest either. It is too expensive for such a basic model.
