Hey WD, here's some free, but really good, advice: If you can't sell a drive with a 5 year warranty, do NOT sell one at all. It will cause potential buyers to wonder what other bad management and manufacturing decisions might be affecting your other product lines. Remember: Quality, quality, quality!!

I wanted to suggest the free Clonezilla as a method of cloning your smaller drive to this one. I successfully cloned a freakin' TRIPLE boot with absolutely no probs. All partitions and boot record copied with more or less one click. It's free and open source, so I hope that Newegg doesn't mind me mentioning it, here. Just hoping to make someone's life easy!

I purchased three of these drives a little over a year ago and installed them in various machines. Two are still running fine. **This Drive uses the new AFT and must be "Aligned"** Make sure you use a utility like the free one on WD's website as this drive, like many of the newer drives, has Advanced Format Technology (AFT). You cannot just format it like you use to, you must "Align" the drive. No big deal, the free program is super easy to get and use but bare drives like this one don't come with documentation that tell you that. The app even clones the drive at the same time! Those who posted issues with this drive may have skipped this program.

I feel like this drive is really good, but I just got one from a bad batch I guess. Most reviews I've seen on it are really good, even after extended use. It's too bad it had a music mix I was working on on it, and it was the only copy (my bad haha)
Just what you should expect when ordering this item. Not spectacular performance, but stable and pretty good capacity per $.
Nothing Really, this drive works perfectly for what I had ordered it for. I Set out looking at this HDD from WD as a simple storage unit for my laptop's 2nd HDD slot, as I own a SSD in my first slot. OCZ Vertex 2 Series 60GB + WD 640GB 5400RPM makes a great combo for Performance and Storage all in one Machine. I couldn't be Happier with this Western Digital HDD right now as all the WD's I've had in the past None of them have broken down and I hope to see the same long lasting results here on this Unit that I've purchased. Now as for the packaging, it was shipped and had arrived here the next day with no problem's, although I must say I was a little impatient about waiting for it though, but on about the package. This exact drive came in my Inspiron N7110 (17R). It has a recovery partition alongside WIN7 and WIN8 Developer partitions. I have had no issues with it. It is a strong drive, durable, and puts out hardly any heat.
