Headrush FRFR-112 2000-Watt 1x12" Powered Guitar Cabinet

Honestly, I love this cabinet. The price is just right, fair without being so low that you question the quality. The sound quality is great. I watched a few video reviews in which one of the reviewers claimed that this unit sounded like it had a cold.Assuredly, it does not. You can get anything from a rich, dark tone to a crispy, clean acoustic through this powered cab. As far as volume goes, I haven't even scratched the surface. With the cabinet on 3/11 volume and my Kemper turned up to maybe a 1/20 volume, it's almost too loud to play in the barracks. Still, the quality stayed clear and in control. Great FRFR

I've had the FRFR-108 for about a month now. I use it with an Avid Eleven Rack. It is quite simply superb. Light and small. It packs a big punch. I've used my Eleven Rack with PAs and power amps into various speaker configurations. But I was always unhappy with the results outside of the studio. The Headrush FRFR-108 is superb. I now have the tone I wanted and only seemed to be able to get with studio monitors. Small and light and extremely loud. Good enough for any gig (especially as it is fitted with a balanced out for PA or Desk input). It is amazing to hear what a punchy full sound you get from a little 8 inch system like this. Great Value FRFR Speakers!

Great for Looper output

I run an RC-500 looper directly into the Headrush 112. I set output B to carry the recorded loop and drum track. Great thump on the bass, overall good clarity. Output A goes to my amp (live guitar), output B to the Headrush. The RC-600 may be a nice upgrade because it has IRs. Very impressed with overall volume handling, without any distortion. Makes playing more fun and inspiring. Astounding price breakthrough. Yes, the RC-500 has an unbalanced TS output, which works into the Headrush. No buzz or hum. Much louder and superior bass handling over the smaller version of this unit, but the 112 heavier and bigger.

LOUD!!!!

This thing, surprisingly very loud and sounds good. For the $$$, it's a great bargain. Had a QSC K10.2, this FRFR 112 sounds louder. It seems the advertisement is right, this speaker is meant for guitar modelers. Highly recommended if you're in the market for one of these. Wish it was lighter though, the weight probably is needed for the speaker to be this powerful and loud.

Never too late for change

After 45 years of playing using traditional Valve amps and 4 x 12 guitar speaker/s and in trying to make a multi FX sound good through them without any real success and what now seems to have been always a compromise , Of course you could never use any Speaker or microphone simulations from the FX unit with a traditional guitar amp setup so apart from Delays , choruses etc. you basically still had a one trick pony as far a guitar tone was concerned (you really only had one sweet spot from most setups) . The recent purchase of the Headrush FRFR-108 (x 2) has been a bit of a revelation for me by the fact that I can now use different Cabs and Mic's from the multi FX and actually hear the difference ... Outstanding sound

An absolutely amazing powered speaker system that perfectly complements my pedal board and amp modeller.Dual inputs with individual volume controls is extremely versatile. And with 2000 W of power it handles any situation I need. Flat Response Full Range (FRFR) is very clean and exactly reproduces the sounds I put in.

Over Hyped, Save Your Money

( DISCLAIMER) Let me start off by saying that maybe it was just my unit that I had, or that I possibly never figured out how to dial the modeler I was using properly. Everyone is different and perhaps the settings I was using was not correct for the cabinet's character. But that being said, I found this cabinet to be a total let down.I bought one of these to go with my Kemper because I wanted a budget friendly solution and I had heard great things about this unit over the web. I kept the Headrush for about 2 weeks before returning it. I never once got a usable sound out of it. It's built really well, and I like what they were going for, but the unit just sounds bad in my opinion. The high gain sounds were the worst. It really lacked any real definition and it was hard to tell the difference between a 5150 profile, and a Plexi. IT also has a weird shrill sound out of it at louder gain volumes which was odd. The last thing that killed it for me was that it had an annoying hiss sound, which could of just been my unit but it was super unpleasant. To conclude. I can't recommend this unit out there to anyone. It's not a terrible unit, but I just feel like there are better options out there. IF you are on a really tight budget and can't afford anything else, its okay, but I would recommend getting the 108 model of this. It's a little smaller, but it has the same sound quality, plenty loud, it's cheaper, and I feel like that would be a better purchase. That way you wont be spending an extra $100 on this to see if you like it or not. If you can save up a little more cash I would HIGHLY!! recommend the Laney LFR 112 Powered Cab. It's a much better cabinet, and is in that same more budget friendly price range, and just sounds fantastic!

Review of HeadRush FRFR-112 2000w Full-Range 1x12 Active Speaker Cabinet

I'm new to this setup, so with that comes a learning curve.I've learnt that these FRFR speakers, although FRFR...in a rehearsal room you will get a lot of low 'woof' from them with a heavy distortion channel.They will compete with your kit.You want to get it off the ground, I recommend buying a stand with it to avoid delving into EQ too much. I've got mine sat on a cab for now, does the job.Handy though, your own private monitor mix live - handy.

I tried a headrush 112 and absolutely loved it. People will say its really bassy but I prefer it, here's why. In the age of the new modelers taking over, some of us are still used to hearing that "amp like" air moving behind us and the headrush 12 makes me feel like there's still an amp on stage with me. Tip: if you have an issue with the bass, clean up your presets a tad: there are several ways to mitigate it (low cut on the amp models, low cut in the eq chain, low cut block in the chain, low cut on effects, and so on). Some will even say that adding low cut will screw your front-of-house sound, but thats not true either for the Helix, you just need to split your signal paths so that you can enjoy the speaker as a monitor and let the sound tech also do his job. I have used it all weekend as a monitor and also as my main stage amp, PLENTY of power. Im going to buy another just to run a stereo setup. Couldnt be happier. I do wish they made a speaker cover for it though.
